    I rode a demo RS 765 6th May. So easy to ride, comfortable & the suspension is brilliant, so soft but stable. It's light. It's quick and tons of fun, a real hooligan tool. The fuelling is brilliant too, easy and smooth to ride in town at slow speeds. It's almost too good, too capable, too easy to ride. (that actually puts me off it a bit, that it has no flaws) Missenden Flyer is right when he says it flatters your riding. It is also so smooth with no vibrations, the bar end mirrors are great too with no shaking at all. I'm 6ft 2 and the seating position was so natural. Steering, well you just have to think where you want to go and there it goes. It handles brilliantly. The Display is awesome too. Cons. Still lacks torque compared to my F800R 2015 and I'm not sure I'm a fan of the rear end but apart from that it seems pretty much the perfect naked middleweight.

    Took RS out for a test today. I must be in a minority as I was not very impressed. The mirrors were blurred at any speed over 50mph and I found the noise at motorway speed irritating which is annoying as I really wanted to like this bike as I have a 14 plate Street Triple which I love. I also didnt like the front
    Brake lever and thought the clamp looked cluttered. So disappointed as I really wanted to like the bike.
    Await your updates with interest once you've ridden it for a while.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I am surprised, but then I'm coming from a 2012 R so maybe the differences in handling are bigger, I have to say there are no issues with the mirrors on the bike I'm riding and I find the noise quite quiet compared to mine! ....I don't love everything about the bike though....stay tuned! Thanks for watching - all the best - TMF

    I traded my Street Triple for a Tiger 800 XRX, I've done some journeys across Europe with both bikes, and ofcourse the Tiger was more comfortable. But a few days ago, I rode the new Street Triple RS and was blown away! It remembered me again of why I started riding motorcycles. Such a joy.... So you can see the dilemma I'm in. Going for the Street once more, or keeping my age-appropriate Tiger 800....Greetings from Belgium.

    Possibly the best real world review of this bike so far. I've ridden this bike and the previous model and Triumph have done a great job. I was impressed how smooth the fly by wire throttle was. I know this model has all the trick bits on to take it up to £10K but it does place it close in price to the totally mad and much more powerful MT10 (Which I own and would not swop for the Triumph)
    Also think its a shame Triumph have given the lower models less power, why?

    I was originally underwhelmed by the look of the latest street triple , but, after much consideration of one in the flesh , it
    dawned on me that Triumph have pulled off a quite brilliant piece of design here …..
    a naked street bike that manages to look uncannily like a sports bike.
    It's clearly intentional and very clever, but aesthetically its miles away from the brutal street roadster look of the original .

    Amazingly good review, but I shouldn't really say amazing since it is what I have come to expect!
    My current bike is a 2013 Yamaha FJR1300 that I love but it is pretty heavy and I'm getting older - 73 and counting. The triple would be my first naked bike and the weight reduction is very appealing but I wonder about the other tradeoffs. I don't enjoy "time on the slab" but like to make occasional trips of 200 - 300 miles. I never have a passenger. I would value your advice very much.
    Perhaps an even dumber question: I notice the passenger pegs on the RS but can quite see where a passenger would sit. I'm not really concerned about having a passenger but would like to use soft saddle and/or tail bags on occasion - would the weight there pose any problem?
    I'm hoping your upcoming review will comment on how well the head lights function at night both on straight aways and turns. There are reported problems with the FZ09 headlights when turning.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words Daniel, the Street Triple is easily comfortable enough for 2-300 mile rides, carrying kit however may be more of an issue if you're used to the big Yamaha. Passenger wise on the RS the rear seat "hump" can be replaced by a rear seat pad, so possible but not sure how comfy that would be for anything other than the occasional use.....

    How is the performance compare to your Street Triple? I'm trying to decide between this and a new 2016 the dealership has for $8500 USD. In your opinion, is this new model worth $4,000 USD more for someone coming from a beginner bike?

    Visited the dealer I patronize a couple of days ago. A dealer principal rode one of these (among other bikes) from Key West, FL to Homestead, FL a few weeks back during a dealer promo/ introduction by Triumph America. She was gushing over this one. Hoping Triumph sells every one they build. I'll stick with my Sprint STs, GTs and Trophys!

    Now that the Daytona (and similar super sports bikes) aren't being update these days, I'd love to see Triumph make a 'fully faired' version of this bike to fill the 600cc-sized gap in the market; kind of like Honda have with the CBR650F. Anyone think this this might happen any time soon? I've heard rumours that Triumph have a new 'faired' model on the horizon...

    Damm it, so visted local triumph dealer and test rode the RS. Did have my Tiger sport 2016 on auto trader, well I did until yesterday RS pick up Friday night added Arrow can, anodised reservoir's LED pack all round, short tail tidy and screen and mirror pack. Im actually surprised I have gone for it but its a lovely bike great handling and engine, it'll go nicely with the Triumph stable to compliment the Explorer for commute, The Thruxton R cafe for nostalgia and this wonderful machine.....for the ride.

    Was looking forward to this one, though slightly disappointed you didn't compare the power spread of the RS to your 2012. I know you have it for a bit longer, so really not that disappointed :). Sounds like the bark is a bit louder than the previous generation exhaust, or is it deceiving me?
    Looking forward for more, and hopefully less rozzers about next time haha!

    Another excellent real world bike review. While I was watching I almost had a sense of this review being on Tv. Like a segment from the old style top gear......I don't mean your review is old. I mean, it's incisive, articulate, informative and interesting to watch and listen too. But available on demand as soon as you post it. Love the Screen, but not sure of the styling of the rest of the bike. Compared to your 2012 model. The new seems more rounded, rather than the angular older model?
    One day I'll get your impression of the 650 v storm.

      The TFT seems pretty integrated to me, I'm not even sure that flyscreen can come off like the older STs.....I do agree on the looks front though, I'm not so keen on what they've done with the rear end as well as the pug nose!

  • @GaryJohnWalker1
    @GaryJohnWalker1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks - and sounds - terrific. And probably has usable performance for public roads that you need to work to get the best whereas litre plus bikes hit sane limits with too little effort. I've seen some criticism that £10k's a lot for a 'middleweight', but this has the spec to justify it. In fact it looks 'better' than the more expensive speed triple. Shame the back brake isn't at least standard brembo - but other than that, great. I'll see if I can get a test ride from Pure Triumph @Woburn.

    I have a '14 MT-09 (the original model with the aggressive fueling) that I bought brand new, it's got Ohlins, Titanium Akrapovic and ECU flash etc etc (no ABS or TC) but I'm actually thinking of buying a new Street Triple RS instead. The MT-09 has so much torque and power that it's really easy to upset it mid corner and the front wheel just lifts off the ground under acceleration in 1st & 2nd and even in 3rd, 4th & 5th if it hits a bump, which is all good and all and demonstrates the power of that amazing engine BUT it gets old quick, sometimes you just want to be able to ride fast and smooth without the thing trying to kill you. Absolutely stunning engine with an epic sound from the titanium Akra and the bike itself now handles like a dream since fitting the Ohlins and Andreani fork cartridges and I'm going to be extremely sad to see it go but i just don't think it's all that usable on the road. From what I've experienced with the MT-09 and read about the Street Triple RS it seems that the MT is a pure demonstration of torque and the Street Triple RS is more focused on getting you from A to B smoothly and quickly. I need to save a few more pennies before I can outright afford the Street Triple RS with Arrow exhaust so I'll test ride one this Summer and if I like it I'll order a new one in Spring 2019. I'm not familiar with Triumph's sales patterns so does anyone know if 2019 will likely bring any new colors to the Street Triple RS range our are they likely to remain fixed with the Matte Silver and Black? As it is I do quite like the Matte Silver anyway.

    The seat gets a little hard on longer journeys, ok on short stints. Otherwise happy with my RS. To adjust the front forks you need to use the little round tool which is under the cowl/seat.

    Looks like the perfect street bike..you can keep the stupid modes thing though and it needs a tail tidy. Glad the gearbox is sorted the one I had was rubbish. The problem with this sort of bike for me is they make me ride like a right nutter. No good for the licence or safety stuff lol

    I went and sat on an S model in the shop the other day, Im going to assume the basic parts are the same as the RS versions, so my question to you is did you feel that the heal guards were tinny in their build quality, I did, they actually pushed in when I squeezed them hard enough and they sounded tinny when I tapped them with my fingers.

      You're more than welcome; I'm an expat Brit living in Northern Thailand and it's not that easy to source bikes up here and they are generally very expensive due to the import tax. I've sat on a few bikes, recently tried the Triumph Tiger and I was on the balls of my feet with the seat height being 810mm. From the information I have the RS is 820mm so my little legs would dangle lol. Took a look at your vlog for the RS instrument panel as well - great job. Have a great day mate.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer

      Well personally I wouldn't recommend this as a starter bike, even in rain mode you have over 100bhp and if it were me I wouldn't be able to resist using it.....however I know of several people that have had them as first bikes, not sure how they got on mind.....or indeed if they're still with us ;0) Seriously, just be sensible and make your choice...

    Missenden Flyer, I love your channel, and although I live in the heart of Harley-Davidson country, the American Midwest, I have always loved Triumphs. I finally put my money down on a new, old stock (2016) Street Triple. When I test rode it, the torque almost shoved the bike forward like a one liter V-Twin cruiser! That kind of power on such a light bike is addictive!
    Thanks for your videos. You helped inspire a lapsed motorcycle lover to get back on the saddle again.

    If I remember right your 2012 ST is the standard version. If so I don't think it is fair to compare the suspension. I think the R version's uprgaded suspension would need to be compared.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @MUNRO13

    The Street Triples with the low mount exhaust corner better than the high mount. I have a 2009 street triple and the difference in cornering on the 2013 was instantly noticeable. How is the low end torque on the RS? Other reviews have said that the power is mostly up top. Also how is the gearing? On my 2009 it's very short which I love for blatting about. On the 2013 the gearing was hideously long. Killed the bike for me.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad to say the gearing appears to be shorter again, feels very similar to my 2012 - I have to say I am noticing no lack of power low down, just even more up top! The new bike handles soo much better than the previous models in my opinion...

  • @Pillokun
    @Pillokun 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just tried the s model and it was fantastic well if you compare to the Thruxton R that I did test just before the new st3. But it was not that slim/narros as my old 2010 daytona 675 which made it a bit harder to flat foot the ground. On the daytona 675, I with my 172cm have no problem at all but here it was a bit harder. But damn, after trashing the new st3 on a technical piece of tarmac I fell in love yet again with the st3/daytona bikes. So light and so good. I dont understand why the Thruxton is so heavy when you can make super light bikes like st3/daytona. Imagine a bike as classy as thruxton but as sharp as the st3... Am I forced to bulid one like that myself?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer

      To be honest I think that the Ducati Sport Classic may be the closest thing to a bike like that but as I have not had any opportunity to ride one yet I cant back it up hehe. But I was a bit disappointed by the Thruxton R, I really really thought it would be a bit closer to a modern naked such as the st3 base model at least. Maybe I had too high hopes of the Thruxton R and too low of the new st3 :D

    Great review. I test rode the previous model and would have ordered one but heard I was coming to Canada. The only things I faulted with it were the useless mirrors and I found the riding position a bit cramped. Other than that it was so much fun. Has it got an automatic self adjusting chain mode? No? Must be feasible in these days of electronic suspension adjustment and lean angle traction control. Probably maintenance not a showroom friendly topic or much of a priority for the journos who will no doubt extol it. However, with all those top spec bought in components I should hope the RS is as good as all the bikes with the same bits! The real test will be what the cooking versions are like and what real world advantages they offer over the old model. I do hope Triumph is not holding them back knowing they will sell anyway in the RS afterglow!
