Kamlabai seafood restaurant is located in Kasarwaddo in Khorlim, Mapusa, North Goa. From Mapusa’s KTC Bus Stand, continue straight past Gandhi Circle and the market. Turn left and continue straight till you see St Joseph chapel. Just after the chapel is the left turn towards Canca. Kamlabai is 300 meters down this road, next to the Madhavbagh clinic. There is ample parking outside.
Kamlabai is quite popular with Mhapsekars and has expanded over the years. Nice simple place it is. I like these places which are just about food and nothing else. No show sha, just food
Since we heard this place is famous for seafood, we wanted to try the seafood platter but it was not available. So we decided to have mutton thali and special fish thali instead, but mutton thali also was not available. In special fish thali, the choice of fish was kingfish, chonak and prawns.
Fortunately the food comes quite quickly after ordering as we were hungry after travelling north, then meeting people in Mapusa in the morning
Maria’s prawns thali had fish curry, cabbage bhaji, dry prawns kismur, teesrio, soya chunks bhaji, chonnem bhaji, sal kari with coconut milk, sheera, rice, chapati and three large rawa fried prawns. And mine is all the same with a big, beautiful piece of fried chonak. Total nine items on Kamlabai’s special fish thali

The fish curry also was of chonak. The fish curry was nice and piping hot. Fried prawns were large and juicy. The dry prawns kismur was also really tasty. We both enjoyed the teesrio a lot. Maria found the soya bean bhaji also very tasty
Sal kari was very nice at Kamlabai. Sheera was just okay
That was a nice, quick and satisfying meal which we wolfed down quite fast.
Kamlabai restaurant was quickly filling up by the time we finished eating, though it was a Sunday so office crowd was not there. On the menu it was written Thursday closed, but the waiter told us it is closed on Saturday. So please call 9850703343 and check before going.
That was a really nice, simple, quick and filling meal. . The food was very tasty, just like home food

We are in the middle of a cyclone right now (thankfully on the outer edges), heavy rain for the past 8-9 hours, heavy winds. The rain hammering on our roofs and yes, the roof leaking at places. That's life, accept and move on. I pray for the people and families and their well being in the immediate vicinity of the cyclone, wherever and whichever country they may be in.
And my point is? Watching the two of you gives me a break, a 14 minute and 42 second break from what is happening outside. Maria, we are working on the inverter too, though understandably it is a cyclone here, and as I type this, the lights have come on!! Hurrah!! The thumbs up from Lesley for the curry says it all....
Oh gosh, sorry to hear it, Michael. Hope all is okay. I have stopped reading news because of endless stream of revolting political and other bad news. So didn’t know about the cyclone. Keeping all in our prayers

Hi Eunice, I have a UPS but it is only for 15 minutes, enough to save the project and shut down the computer. Fortunately my internet connectivity is quite good now so I can reupload fairly quickly
So nice to see y'all visit Kamalabai. Brought back memories of my lunches at the place whenever I've been to Mapusa... they serve the best Shark Fish (Mori) curry, I feel. That the place also shares its name with my late grandma makes it all the more special. Keep up the great work 👍

Hi Lesley. had been to Kamlabai 6/7 years back. was a simple restaurant then with plastic chairs and all .. food i remember was ok sort off.. glad to see the change.. in goa now and visited Bombil ( 5 stars) especially the Aad Maas just mouth watering.. also visited Ramesh B&R again.. that’s a must go.. and Mistur Kudd in Old Goa ..

Hi Lesley, your video content is to the point & very informative. Also i would suggest to mention the prices as well..Try places in Tarivaddo, Assolna, Salcette, there are atleast 7 river facing restaurants in that lane, However Sams Milmar, Amarela & Seamens Nest are some of the recommendations.

Leslie , please cover a place where we can get fish dishes as well as a good veg thali. The vegitarian thalis you covered had very limited options like potato bhaji and only one type of leafy vegitable . It is not really a stumptuous veg thali .

There is this small place... For fish thali... Goan food... Reasonably priced... So you ll must visit... It's called the kitchen.. Belongs to pednekars.. So if you're lost.. You can ask anyone pednekars.. They'll tell you... Lot of office staff goers.. Add:Ground floor, Vathar residency, First, behind Poshak Showroom, Morod, Mapusa.

Thanks for your respond I had been busy legal estate delays have a surprise today 22 nd June at 3 noon I was tidying my washroom noticed on the paper towel 2 eyes looking at me so I sat down on the seat and kept looking and Jesus's face appeared I was so happy don't know how to even take a pic but I did and stunned as the pic has a heart beat I have to wait for for a person to come by later I cut the pic and put it in my altar in bedroom by 8 50 to night I go to the washroom and I can see another pic of jesus I let it be I pray 9 pm adoration and 10 pm mass its the drcc columbo with father michael happy to see both of you and all the food I text this way to cover a lot of news God bless Indira from Canada its near 12 30 night God bless enjoy

Overhyped place this Kamlabai has become now 😢 Proper fish also they dnt serve.
Visited many times, but the place is now overcrowded with tourist and long waiting hours.
Yes Mhapsekar’s have told us that it has grown much bigger but the food is still great. Go at weekday lunch time to avoid tourist crowds
