- Hi guys, today we’re going to Mobor-Cavelossim. Our channel member Michael Mawlong has told us that there’s a place there called Octima which also has nice Goan food and we’re very happy to hear that because usually Mobor-Cavelossim only has places which have only the kind of food which tourists like, especially the international tourists

Octima Restaurant, Bar and Cafe is located walking distance from the Cavelossim market, just off the Dabolim-Cavelossim road in Salcette, South Goa. At Haathi Mahal hotel in Cavelossim market, the road curves right towards Mobor. Just when you reach Novotel Dona Sylvia resort, you will see the left turn with signs for Mike’s Place, and also for Octima. Turn left and follow this road till the end. It is best to go on bikes as the lane is very narrow.
Octima restaurant is entirely outdoors, in the garden of a house. It has more tables during the season. It’s a jolly setting among the many green and flowering plants
Lesley is going to try the fish curry rice because it’s the mark of good Goan food. Roma is very excited to try the pork dish and Maria will have Goan roast beef.
Costs we paid: Prawns thali Rs 350, pork chop rechead Rs 420, beef roast Rs 350, bebinca with ice cream Rs 200, caramel pudding Rs 200
This is a family-run eatery. One has to wait patiently for the food. So go with nice company like we did
Lesley's prawns curry rice thali has a big bowl of teesrio, mixed bhaji, papor, prawn curry, sal kari, gulab jamun, salad, 6 big rawa fried prawns, pickle and rice.
Roma got a very nice big size pork chop with plenty of meat. The red rechead masala looks awesome
Maria's Goan beef roast was served the traditional way, with potato and onion
The fried prawns were just superb and also the prawn curry. The beef was soft. The pork chop was tasty, but the meat was slightly tough
The teesri was different from what we usually have, and very nice
For dessert we tried the bebinca with ice cream and caramel custard. Roma was not too impressed with the caramel custard but liked the bebinca and ice cream

If people in Cavelossim get tired of having all the Continental food in all the tourist places, and they want to know what really Goan food is like, go to Octima. It’s really nice

Hi Lesley.. visited Octima today and all of us loved the food and also it's cosy ambience full of greenery . My husband especially was thrilled as Goan shark ambot tikh reminded him of his mother's taste !!!!

Hi they also have pork asado and sorpotel, chicken cafreal, stuffed squids, beef roulade, shark ambot-tik, and fish/prawn/chicken curry rice in Goan. And also rechead fry fish/prawns/etc
Once this place was a desert. its only in 1986 when old anchour hotel came up,later leela,holiday inn that made this place great.The people were toody tapper who are originally from quepem

Good to see Mike's Place as you passed it en route to Octima. Whenever I've been to Cavelossim, I've spent much time there. You're right though, Cavelossim has more places that cater to Continental tastes. Among those, Robin's Ark is a personal fav. Would once again recommend Smoke Fish Cafe aka Ranjita/Babita aunty's homemade food in Morjim.

I love the goan food which you take so much efforts, one can feel the taste in your videos, the food is so yum and authentic as you guys want to give the best quality and its not just for the sake viewership. This is for myself and may be on behalf of others, for non members like me we have been following your genuine content since beginning. So now our recommendations and comments is not anymore important in your priority list to be in action as we are not a member! Is that true... Hi Sagar, of course we prioritise our members. Otherwise what is the point of membership. We get dozens of restaurant suggestions and comments every day. black pepper sauce is missing for steak.
That is not steak but Goan beef asado. It's not served in black pepper sauce but it's own gravy
Do visit MAFIA COCKTAIL in Pilern, North Goa. Authentic home cooked food and no menu, only Sister Cook dishes. I'm sure you won't regret the travel from South to North Goa for this one. Also you should cover more of north goa's goan restaurants. They are plenty serving delicious food.

Whew, I'm relieved the food met the expectations of all three of you!! I'm not really a dessert person so that doesn't really matter to me.
We spent so many afternoons and evenings eating at Optima and my son was salivating watching Roma and Maria eating the pork and beef😄😄 but he still swears by the beef stuffed squid in rechead masala...
I would like to have your opinion on the prices, considering it is smack bang in the middle of Cavelossim. It was the only place that gave us decent sized lobsters for under Rs. 2,000/-. The same size at other places was not less than Rs. 3,000/-, and in the case of Fisherman's Wharf, it was about Rs. 4,200/-.

Hi Valerie, we all have been to South Side and liked it a lot but it's quite expensive and also we rarely cover places which are more for tourists than locals
