Tundra Crewmax says 9 1/8” from the windshield, not the 8.5 you drilled. That's the Double Cab instructions. The wind deflector looked forward on the window of the truck.
Here for the shop hangout. It’s always great to see Tyler. @tsgear don’t stress about the videos man. Just bring us along in the shop and what you’re working on. Prio number one is that you have fun doing it.
@@TSGear Literally been wondering if you cancelled your order for the Tremor. Been looking forward to the reveal since last years shot show video. Congrats on the truck man, hope you're loving it.
This would have been a nice video to reference about a month back. I installed a prinsu rack on my 2018 Silverado. The only thing is prinsu doesn’t make one for the Silverado so I bought a raptor model because of the way it mounts it’s really modular and I was able to make it work! It’s even scarier to drill into your roof when the product isn’t even designed for your truck. KC Hilights does make a rack for the Silverado’s so I figured I should be safe drilling since it mounts the same way. I just liked the looks of the prinsu much better and the KC one didn’t have an air dam, just a light bar which added over $1000. About a month later I’m still living and and haven’t had any leaks or issues. Just a little bit of wind noise (no whistle just some noise which I would assume you get a little with any truck) but I’m still playing around with the placement of the air dam and the rack to get the least amount of noise.
Had the same feeling when I was drilling into my Tacoma access cab. The online PDF for the prinsu rack sucked a lot ! I had to pretty much figure it out on a whim .
Keep the Ford, I like the video I can’t believe you actually read the instructions though 😝 but you did a great job explaining it all I’d be nervous to drilling into somebody else’s truck but overall it was a great video good job buddy ok 👌🏼🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out
What size rivet nuts do I need to install the prinsu rack on my Tacoma . Doesn’t have the holes already :( 3/8 hole but what size nuts ? For the thread to match
You can drill out a broken bolt in the roof with a shop vac nozzle aimed at the drill. 90% of the swarf will go up the vac and not into the truck. When you can also grease up the bit to capture the really small swarf.
I ended up being able to drill just enough of a divot so the extractor would catch with the impact without getting any shavings in the roof. Took a while but I did it while Maxx was on a business call and forgot to video it. :)
Max “I’m look at the instruction then put the rack back then look at the instructions again” and my dudes just over here standing in the back of his truck with a beer like sure man drill holes don’t drill holes check don’t check whatever.
I had to do the same thing to add a Prinsu rack to my ZR2. Nothing scarier than drilling holes in the roof of a brand new vehicle. Over a year later, still no leaks (knock on imaginary wood).
THANK YOU ! SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT 🤔 . HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO PUT A ROOFTOP TENT ON YOUR CAP ? BUT THE CAP ISN'T SETUP FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE ROOFTOP TENT PLUS THE WEIGHT OF LETS SAY TWO PEOPLE. HAVE YOU OR YOUR FRIENDS MADE A FRAME / ROLLBAR TO HELP WITH THE WEIGHT FOR THE CAP ? I HAVE A LOW A.R.E. CAP JUST TO COVER THE BED OF THE TRUCK . SO IT'S WELL BELOW THE CAB & WAS THINKING EVEN IF I PUT A ROOFTOP TENT ON IT IT WILL BE STILL LOWER THAN THE TOP OF THE CAB & STILL GET GOOD GAS MILEAGE ⛽? JUST WANTED YOU''LLS INPUT . ? I ALSO HAVE HEARD THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DRIVING WEIGHT & PARKED WEIGHT TOO ? THANK YOU ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU ALL ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! ENJOYED ! WATCHOUT FOR THE BLACK 🧊 DRIVING 🚗& WALKING 🚶♂️ TOO !
Added the Prinsu on my 2017 Tundra and added two 30lbs each Trek bikes at the very edge of each side for stability and the crossbars bow, twist and creak like mad making a terrible sound. We turned the crossbar closest to wind deflector on its side for strength and its doing better but still bowing and creaking. Did review on Prinsu website but never posted. I assume they don’t want negative reviews. So if 60+ lbs bow the rack to the point it touches your roof what can you put up there? It looks great I give them that but i bought it hoping to put a kayak and both bikes like I did with my Yakama on my previous truck
Toyota: the company that literally gave Ford shit when touring the facility in the 60s about using a hammer to bash doors into place. Also Toyota: "yeah so sometimes the cabs are a little crooked out of the factory."
@@dalephillips8250 I was looking at them and comparing them too the prinsu rack. Not sure about the dynamic load of them but they seem pretty sturdy. They did a good job on the design and how it gets held into place.
@@matthooper8497 yep I checked them out and this is the option I Will take if I get only the roof rack. Iv seen some options that have a bed rack which extends over the roof also.

You and Tyler are so funny together.
Always fun to hang out with Tyler. He's a good dude!
What an awesome garage/workshop /mancave...
I was pumped when I thought you bought a tundra. Sweet vid brotha
I'm sure it's nerve racking to drill into the roof, but it's really nice that Prinsu gives you all of the tools to do it right 🤙
Toyota Tundra ! All day everyday bro 🤟🏻
5.7 v8 or a twin turbo 6 i know the raptors faster but i like my v8 growl.
Great truck! See your rocking the Diamondback cover. With your Prinsu rack now installed, next is to go LLOD and mount a rack over the bed cover.
Omg yes tundra content..... sweet!!!!
Oh baby going to the Toyota family !
Max thanks for the show. Wait I thought TS Gear got a new truck?
He did! A nice one too!
Just put a Spider Solutions No Drill Roof Rack on my tundra. Much less of a headache, installed alone in like 45 mins.
8 months later?? Are you still happy with the Spyder roof rack? I'm about to purchase one for my tundra. Any pros/cons ? Thank you in advance.
Comment for the algorithm, another like for the 'stache!
It can be scary to drill into a 50K truck, but man it looks awesome with the rack on top. I haven't regretted putting on the rack on my Tacoma.
Max I love you pal. I really do, but I'd never let you work on my truck lol. Too many maxidents on your permanent record...
That turned out really nice. Good video. First Prinsu I have seen on anything other than a Tacoma.
Good job Guys
Is it designed for weather in Canada? No rush after a year?
Tylers channel hasn't had a new vid in 8 months! I just subscribed to him... don't let us down tyler!
Hopeing to have a video out tommorow. :)

Good video. I wanna do the same but def the drilling freaking me out a bit. New sub 🤙🏾
The install guide I see for the tundra says 9 1/8” from the windshield, but you drilled 8.5”. Am I missing something here?
I think some instructions even mention 10”. Id wanted it to be more push forward anyways . Good catch thou. ! 8.5” might have to do
I told ya brotha!!! I love my tundra.

TSGear post some videos brother. Waiting to see that Tremor. Great video Maxx!
Any issue with the satellite radio with the wind fairing where it is?

Hahahaa written perfectly hahahaha
Hahah hes super chill
I'd have to drill holes in my access cab taco to install a rack too. I want to do it though.
How would you know if there happensed a leak? Like the water would stay in the car frame or will be drained out?
Awesome brother!
It isn't a true Maxx Powell video without a "well... that's how it goes".
Thank you for the share!
@tsgear get the truck reveal video up already!!!

OK the mustache......shop room teacher.....that's it!!!!!
North west rider sticker 👍👍
Been thinking of doing the same thing. What do you think of a tent set up over the cab?
That would work great. The rack will deffinitly hold it
Get a tundra max, I have my 2012 double cab going on 155,000 miles strong 💪🏼
Tundras built to tow well for a half ton. Raptors built to drift and do little jumpy things. Sick stache
Not sure if you’re aware, there are side curtain airbags installed directly where you are drilling. Very risky
Yup gata be super carefull!
Went to go trade in my tundra today to get a new Tacoma and it sold when I got to the lot!
Whats that decal in his truck?
The mustache is back aaahhh
“Well......shit happens” The power of the stash
Now he just needs some XD Monsters and some Cooper Discoverer S/T MaXX's.
I hit a deer earlier in the 2020 tundra... good thing the tundra is cold blooded...
Looks like Tyler got a red tremor 👀
Good video but questioning the gold color on the thumbnail :/
You absolutely drilled into the airbag first pilot hole. Better check it out, probably hit them multiple times without a drill stop.
From my lens, there wasn’t too much (or enough) of the bit available to punch through into the airbag.
Be ready for the new Tundra and determine if you want the V8 or the V6. TIME WILL TELL!
Huge Tacoma fan. However, a raptor to a tundra is not a comparassion. I'd love to buy a tundra someday, but a raptor is a different animal.
Yeah I agree. I love the Raptor and I got it for the same price as a used Tundra so im really happy with it

Hahaha felt bad about that. Luckily @tsgear saved the day!

Thanks for checking in man 🍻

Spider roof rack makes one that looks like the Prinsu but you don't drill into the actual truck. Check them out.
