PS2 is one of THE best console with THE largest library of games from the same gen in a console. Only the PC has a larger library overall in gaming but not a console. The video will go all day haha.
Earthbound was mentioned actually! Just uh, very briefly, and mostly them expressing very mild shock at it not having been suggested. So still pretty shafted yeah.
it was mentioned... yet sf2, mortal kombat 2 and killer instinct made it. i get that this is a fighting game channel but sf2 lecagy and impact is nothing when we are talking about donkey kong country, link to the past, ff6,super fuking metroid and chrono trigger.
@lorenzosandoval7328 i love all those games more than SF2, but SF2 started a genre and basically revitalized the arcade scene. It defined Capcom post-Mega Man and pre-Resident Evil. It is next to Sonic in level of early 90s iconic franchise.
@@Tank207 Yeah Super Mario World is the number 1 game for SNES, it's basically the quintessential Super Nintendo game... Nintendo built the SNES hardware and that's the piece of software they designed to be packed with it so they could showcase its potential. It's the most refined version of 2D Mario controls, amazing world/level design, amazing Koji Kondo soundtrack, it's pretty much a masterpiece 2D platformer game. I have no idea how it doesn't at least make the top 3, I personally could never put it anywhere but number 1 (especially when you have the version of Mario All-Stars that ALSO comes with Super Mario World on the same cart, but I don't think that version came out until 94 or 95...) For me you start with Super Mario World as number 1, Link to the Past as number 2, then you start working on the rest of the list. Putting it at 9 under this other stuff is just crazy.
Like them, I like DKC 1 better. I recognize DKC 2 is the better game, but I like DKC 1 better. Part of that is purely nostalgia and memories, but not all of it. DKC 2 took what DKC 1 did and iterated and improved on it in pretty much every way, but DKC 1 felt revolutionary at the time. I couldn't fathom how my SNES was running a game that looked that good. It blew my mind out the back of my head in a way that DKC 2 never did.
Dang, my list would be Final Fantasy VI Final Fantasy IV Chrono Trigger Megaman X Super Mario World Super Mario All Stars Street Fighter 2 Turbo Super Metroid Legend of Zelda (ALTTP) Kirby Super Star
Yeah the game wasn't even mentioned, there's a lot of good stuff that wasn't mentioned like Super Ghouls n' Ghosts. They were trying to not even put Super Castlevania IV on the original list which is just crazy.
@@Marisquizo Yeah I think it was even a launch title that really showed off what the SNES hardware could do. The game is extremely difficult but it's a great game.
@@ONIONxKNIGHT it was a release-order thing way back in the 90s. Many people in the playground were referring it to that. I think it's more of a European or Scandinavian thing, because I heard that name a lot with my close friends in Sweden. However, I prefer calling it by its full title rather than putting a number on it. ;P
It's crazy that out of the top 2 games in this list Max hasn't played one of them and hasn't finished the other. He also has never even played super mario world 🤯
Super Mario World and Street Fighter II should probably switch places. Honestly, my ps1 and SNES lists would have about 5 RPGs on each and my Dreamcast would be almost all fighters. But I like the variety.
_Steeb_ : "I never beat Metroid" - Super Metroid gets put at #4 - _Steeb 30 FUCKING SECONDS LATER_ : "Of course I beat Super Metroid, are you kidding me ?" Steeb, I can't even sometimes.
About Super Castlevania IV: A LOT was misinterpreted and downright ignored, so here are some facts that make SC4 a top 10 game (Rondo is my fav): - It's a SNES launch title (most console game launch titles arent this innovative, revolutionary (mode7) and excellent graphical showcase). - One of the main titles to use and fully showcase mode 7 in terms of graphics and gameplay. - No other CV game plays like this (8 directional whipping). - At the time, it was the absolute most balanced ans fair Castlevania to play (no, C3 is not better). - Simmons said that Rondo came at the same time, no, Rondo came 2 years later in 93, on a CD system that no one in western civilization had, played or even knew existed. - The "Rondo is better" argument would be like saying that NO castlevania shouls ever be top because none of them is SOTN, or that Chrono is not top SNES because the DS version is better. - SC4 deserves a top 10 spot SNES games more than CV1, 2 or 3, deserve a top 10 spot on a NES list.
Castlevania 1 is a better game than Super 4, especially considering it was made at a time that almost no one knew how to make a proper platformer. The 8 directional whip works to the Super 4's detriment making it too easy and the sub weapons near useless. Castlevania 1 was designed from the ground up with a fixed jump and limited whip in mind. Super 4 just throws that away and breaks the game's balance. It wasn't a "quality of life improvement", it was a misunderstanding of 1's design. And the proof is that none of the classic vanias brought back the overpowered whip. Castlevania 1 is still a brilliantly designed game to this day, every challenge has a dedicated solution with sub weapons to help your limited whip. Super 4 deserves credit for being a launch title and having great visuals, but it fails at applying the classic vania formula.
Castlevania 4 is good but I feel Rondo and even Castlevania 3 take alot of the wind out of its sails. Castlevania 3 and Rondo had branching levels and multiple characters so Super Castlevania felt alot more basic in comparison at least imo. Dracula fight was kinda dull even if the lead up was awesome.
Oh but the nostalgia that game brings. Street Fighter II is a fantastic game, and developed the fighting genre, but can you call it an absolute masterpiece in game design three decades later? Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, Link to the Past, those games will be enjoyable to play and appreciate 100 years from now.
There was literally no consideration for Super Mario All-Stars, a 4-in-1 of classic Mario remastered to a pristine flavor. One of the best collections available on the entire 16-bit category that was never offered again except on the Wii in limited quantities. The only way Nintendo is gonna put SMB1-SMB3 all together at once is a Virtual Console template. All-Stars was once in a lifetime. It should be Top 5 if not Top 10. Hell, there was a cartridge that included Super Mario World, so a 5-in-1 of sheer distilled Mario, something Nintendo will never do again.
Yeah I thought that too, but knowing them they would have shut that down and wrote those all off as nes games, which they technically were originally, but the fact they thought so little of mario world should show you what they would have thought about remasters of nes mario games. They needed room to make the top 10 be 30% fighting games for some insane reason.
This. I was absolutely shocked that it wasn't even mentioned at all. SMB3 alone is one of the greatest games of all time & it's INCLUDED in this collection lol.
@@philbarton2832 If the games were available individually outside of All-Stars, yes. But it's technically an entire game in the same way Kirby Super Star is an entire game.
Proposal One of the bigger issues I've noticed with Simmons defending stuff like RPGs is most of the other doods haven't played the games in a meaningful capacity. That makes it a dead end for argument's sake because it turns into him effectively selling the game for them to play and they can only really give an opinion at a glance. With that in mind, I've seen everyone celebrating the games by playing them after the list for the anniversary, well what if we do the reverse? Make the list, try the games that everyone hasn't tried like Out of this World or Super Mario RPG, and then fill the checklist with nominations for the final video? Everyone's able to give an opinion based on experience, the gameplay videos still come out, and perhaps it affects the overall list? Kenny only tried Kirby Superstar because a member of his family wanted to try it and came away thoroughly impressed almost 30 years later
@@sufamidan1006 I understand why it wasn't mentioned. It was really overlooked, but going back and playing it a few years ago really made me shocked how insanely good this game was. If I had a list, it would be in my top 10 snes games list.
No, it's an arguable top 1-3 game because that game's impact and popularity was insane. It was like Fortnite today and original MW2. Everyone was playing Street Fighter 2.
The only -ish that i have with this list is the games that were ports from Arcade. I remove those and place some games that were console first and or exclusive. Then do another list of the best SNES games based on Arcade games.
I love the debate over games but im sorry, I'm convinced these dudes don't know much about games. Nobody mentioned Final Fight at all. And then they're talking about best port from arcade to console. Answer: U.N. Squadron, which by the way is definitely a top 10 game on SNES. The fact that Max thinks SF2 is the best game on that console tells me everything.
the snes has a good library. Very hard to put it into top 10. Max and his friends should give their own top 10 personal list after the debate just for fun.
MK2 ran much better on the Sega Genesis because it had the debug code on the Genesis and it had extra menus for custom controls and easy fatalities. SNES Mk2 was so lame in comparison in regards to playing experience and quality controls.
Yeah I mainly played MK2 on Genesis at my uncle's house, we mainly played Street Fighter 2 Turbo on SNES. I don't think MK2 should have even been on this list to begin with even though it's a great game.
Personally, I dont think i would be able to speak on this since I missed out on so much back in the SNES days even though I was born in the 80s. I only played fighting games and the marios at this point, so back then I had no idea about impact either. On top of all that, my parents kicked our asses out the house so we were always playing outside until the street lights came on 😅. That being said, I'm always here for the discussion lol
I have a hard time putting any of the fighting games in the top 10 personally. I remember them in arcades more than I do the consoles at the time. I can imagine if you didn't have an arcade near you they would have been mind blowing. No Earthbound is a sin, that is a top 10 snes game easily.
Yeah I like fighting games, but I feel like they don't really belong on the list either because they were on Sega Genesis too (with the exception of Killer Instinct) and they were better in the arcades.
Played unhealthy amounts of: Chrono Trigger, Megaman X series, Zelda aLttP, Super Mario All Stars, Rock & Roll Racing, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong series, Street Fighter 2 turbo, Bomberman 3, Top Gear series, NBA Jam, TMNT turtles in time, Super Star Soccer, Bikers Micer from Mars, (and one with robots that had pvp and campaign but can't remember the name rn)
We had a crappy TV as kids. Bright flashes would make it shut off. Example: Terminator 2 intro when an endo fires at the screen. Was playing Castlevania IV at night with the lights off. The lightning striking the grave in the intro shut off the TV plunging everything into darkness and silence and I freaked out because being a kid.... love that game.
These videos would be like 3x better if Steve wasn't invited to the discourse. Just constant yelling and complaining. It's nauseating listening to him.
Here’s my question would you realistically go back and play mk2 in 2024 when you have mk gold, mk trilogy on ps1,n64 and Dreamcast, arcade classics on ps3 and 360, deception, deadly alliance, x, 11, Armageddon
Today we chose violence. But seriously good list. Snes has so many good games that narrowing it down is almost impossible. Also even tho KI isnt top 10 its definetly 11th
KI to me was absolutely Top 10. 1st combo system. Banging ass soundtrack. Training mode. It was meant to come out on ultra64 until it got delayed and then ported on to SNES was godlike.
It blows my mind Steeb consider Mario RPG on the same level as the Namco X Capcom/Project X Zone series when no, the problem with that series is that they were bad SRPGs that didn't do the series they put in justice meanwhile Mario captured the feel of an RPG while also blending in what people like about the Mario series, truly blasphemy & a real shame most of the Doods aren't RPG guys

I love how we debated on 3 fighting games from mk2, sf2 and killer instinct and no one could get even close
Simmons. Mario RPG...Over TTYD?
Yeah one of the most clearly biased takes of this video
I would have substituted Flashback in place of Out of this World.
1. Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest
2. Mega Man X 2
3. Killer Instinct
4. Mighty Morphing Power Rangers
5. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
6. Donkey Kong Country
7. Mortal Kombat 2
8. Donkey Kong Country 3 - Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
9. Mortal Kombat
10. The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare
Is Steve a contrarian or does he just love being a wildcard to throw the group off with his illogical reasoning.
both and neither, steve is steve, it has been for years hahaha
Why complain about Steve when Kenny is the one who was truly mad the whole time and basically ruined the video? lol
Steeb is.... very loud about what he loves and ignores everything he dislikes so he's just... illogical yes
also i think Keeny is fine in this vid... even him talking KI snes into the ground was just his own experince of my shit don't work no more hate game
if you guys do one of these for PS2 it would be like a 4+ hour stream. too many absolute bangers and huge games for that system alone lol
Street Fighter II is a fantastic game, and developed the fighting genre, but can you call it an absolute masterpiece in game design three decades later? Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, Link to the Past, those games will be enjoyable to play and appreciate 100 years from now.
Yeah I know they're a fighting game channel, but SF2 being in a top 5 SNES list is insanity
It seems kinda cheese to put a collection in
@@philbarton2832 If the games were available individually outside of All-Stars, yes. But it's technically an entire game in the same way Kirby Super Star is an entire game.
@@TheRADRAD I get that but c'mon you can see why they'd rather put in a normal singular game in a top 10 "game" list
Proposal
One of the bigger issues I've noticed with Simmons defending stuff like RPGs is most of the other doods haven't played the games in a meaningful capacity.
WILD GUNS WILD GUNS WILD GUNS WILD GUNS WILD GUNS WILD GUNS
Legitimately, one of the most underrated games of all time.
@@Gravekeeper5890 comfortably. It’s beyond bizarre that it didn’t even get a mention.
@@sufamidan1006 I understand why it wasn't mentioned. It was really overlooked, but going back and playing it a few years ago really made me shocked how insanely good this game was. If I had a list, it would be in my top 10 snes games list.
whoa I didn't even know the guys did this list, will it be on main channel at some point?
I think I am confident in saying that Super Metroid at 4 is probably the lowest it has ever been on a video game list of any category. Crazy shit.
I would agree (just finished Super Metroid today) but.. it's not unreasonable to put it behind games like Chrono Trigger, FF6 and Link to the Past.
We're never getting this edit right?
Street Fighter 2 feels a bit too high tbh
If you were there you would understand. Although SF2 turbo/hyper fighting was the much better version
Street Fighter was big on arcade cabinets, not snes...
@@elliotb1795 uhh…no? OG SF2 is the 5th best selling snes game of all time, while SF2 Turbo is 8th best and SSF2 is 22nd.
No, it's an arguable top 1-3 game because that game's impact and popularity was insane. It was like Fortnite today and original MW2. Everyone was playing Street Fighter 2.
Street Fighter 2's impact is the only time a fighting game didn't feel like a niche genre.
Mario Kart over Mario World is just laughable and
KI being removed from the list is ridiculous.
Yep you can tell Max doesn't know how to win this LOL.. tell me your a fighting game guy without telling me your a fighting game guy SNES wins
First truly bad call was Castlevania 4 lol
The only -ish that i have with this list is the games that were ports from Arcade. I remove those and place some games that were console first and or exclusive. Then do another list of the best SNES games based on Arcade games.
I love the debate over games but im sorry, I'm convinced these dudes don't know much about games. Nobody mentioned Final Fight at all. And then they're talking about best port from arcade to console. Answer: U.N. Squadron, which by the way is definitely a top 10 game on SNES. The fact that Max thinks SF2 is the best game on that console tells me everything.
I got my SNES specifically for SF2 and played it more than any other game on there. It’s probably my #1 game on the system.
Not having Super CV4 up there from the start is a damn hate crime
Thank you for saying LTTP is one of the best games ever made because it’s true! It’s my #1 in IMO
It will always be weird that “I didn’t play it” is seemingly an automatic negative vote lol
the snes has a good library. Very hard to put it into top 10. Max and his friends should give their own top 10 personal list after the debate just for fun.
i mean... this is
ahh you mean each one have their own yea
I still don't understand how two Kart Racers got into the top 10 for the PlayStation and the Super Nintendo.
I hope they do a Genesis/Mega Drive list
Still waiting to see the Steve's second form.
The one between "whatever.." and "THIS IS THE GREATEST INJUSTICE SINCE ORPHANS!!" (crab walk)
SimCity not being on there is sad, it is perhaps the best version of the original game with Nintendo's touches of the helper and music.
I love how until the 1:53:00 is mark Chrono Trigger wasn't mentioned cuz it's awesome
Edit: And Chrono wins as it should
it's no suprise it's the best snes game, argueable the best game ever... i knew Max doesn't like it but still
I'm glad Tetris Attack is on the board
Street Fighter 2 Turbo was the superior game on the SNES.
You guys didn't put [insert game here]? WHY DO YOU HATE ME AND MY MOM, BUT MOSTLY MY MOM!?!?!?!?!?
MK2 ran much better on the Sega Genesis because it had the debug code on the Genesis and it had extra menus for custom controls and easy fatalities. SNES Mk2 was so lame in comparison in regards to playing experience and quality controls.
Yeah I mainly played MK2 on Genesis at my uncle's house, we mainly played Street Fighter 2 Turbo on SNES. I don't think MK2 should have even been on this list to begin with even though it's a great game.
It’s
1- Chrono Trigger
2- Zelda a Link to the Past
3- DKC2
And then everything else
Now it is time for console wars! The top 10 lists battle to make a new top 10 list of the console generations
Revised video title: MAX & KENNY ARGUE KI (feat. a top 10 SNES list)
Excited to see top ten N64 games after seeing this.
The robots one could be Metal Warriors.
Rock n Roll Racing may not be top ten but i look forward to picking it up again
Sim City is probably not top 10 but it could have been in this discussion. Rock n Roll racing was a legit pick.
Guys, why are you 4, not a movie yet? Max, I'll write up a story!
I hope u guys make an edit of this one one day
Love the respect for Tetris Attack.
There is no world where Super Mario RPG isn't in a top 10 scenario OMG
There is only one kirby game that deserves to be top 10, that one is kirby super star just for the amount of content that game has
The absolute mad take to remove DKC2 from the list when it's arguably the best game on the system.
Where do i find the patched rom for Street Fighter Alpha 2 on SNES
the fact secret of mana got cut kills my soul. that is one of my top 10 games of my life.
Here’s my question would you realistically go back and play mk2 in 2024 when you have mk gold, mk trilogy on ps1,n64 and Dreamcast, arcade classics on ps3 and 360, deception, deadly alliance, x, 11, Armageddon
I'm just as happy as Simmons watching Chrono Trigger as number 1
im still looking at it but i will be sad if DEMON CREST is not in the list...
..well at less they mention it...
I saw the PS2 list before this?
I’m high as kite right now.
Do the N64 System Next
It blows my mind Steeb consider Mario RPG on the same level as the Namco X Capcom/Project X Zone series when no, the problem with that series is that they were bad SRPGs that didn't do the series they put in justice meanwhile Mario captured the feel of an RPG while also blending in what people like about the Mario series, truly blasphemy & a real shame most of the Doods aren't RPG guys
