    Your right, Dennis. These are the best baitrunners Shimano has ever produced. The newer versions are nice, but the B series are tanks. They will last forever with proper maintenance. I have a couple of older A series that are still going strong. Take care.

      It's all about the maintenance, like any machine, it needs to be cared for in order to work properly - Thanks for sharing - Dennis

    Dennis, my only baitfeeder is an Okuma Avenger ABF 40 that I really like. It is simpler and, to me, easier to service or work on. I certainly would love to have a Shimano 6500 baitfeeder someday. This was an intimidating repair video for me. I’ve always been intimidated by Shimano and especially Penn baitfeeders. With my limited vision I’m just a little afraid of them. As always you make the difficult look easy. Great video Dennis! - Chris

      Okuma ABF's are good reels easy to work on but need serviced frequently, especially in saltwater.

      True - I get a lot me ABF reels that the Shimanos - Shamans need strive. ABFs need repairs - Dennis

      @@richardsurber7928 with all my reels, every time I take reels on a surf fishing trip those reels get a thorough take apart cleaning and service afterward. I collect mostly vintage saltwater spinning reels manufactured before 1980. Certainly that Okuma Avenger ABF I have doesn’t fit that parameter but I had no baitfeeder and I wanted to try fishing with one. I haven’t used it in saltwater yet but I plan to sometime. I have 310 spinning reels so choosing what reels to use when I go fishing can cause quite a problem. - Chris

    Shimano baitfeeders have the most parts of any reel but are extremely reliable if taken care of correctly.

    Dennis for all the years I have been fixing reels with bail reels I heard you say if you are using it for bait feeder flip the switch were you referring to the anti reverse dog, a fish grabs the bait takes off and you can here the anti reverse dog hitting the ratchet and then you hear the clicking compared to if the anti reverse dog is off and the reel rotor goes back and fourth silently

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm - there are two drag systems on this and an A/R clutch on this reel. There is no dog. Not sure if you are referring to this reel. Those that use dogs and an over-ride switch can go silent and over-ride the click click, but lost the hold fast a/r in the process - Dennis

    Hi Dennis just doing end of year service on my 4500B I service the line guide side of the bail fine however on the opposite side of bail wire where the screws sleeve part under kind of a half moon shape cover is a rectangular one end half moon shape on the other brass piece that is rattling around inside not sure what it does or how it goes back in or if it even belongs in there any input appreciated

      The part came off of a donor reel that the owner had brought with the one that needed the repair. - You are correct, the parts for these reels are very hard to find. - Dennis
