Wow H, awesome work legend, I didn’t realize how technical the assembly is on these , and yes I’m definitely life time member of the “caught F@#% All” Club 😂😂😂 Let’s see if We can’t change that! Thank you for the service ❤
Following this video pulling down a 4500 my old man gave me thats about 30 years old. He reckons it had never been serviced and i had been using it for years up until about a year ago when the bait runner wouldn't wouldn't automatically disengage when you start winding. Found an old sping loose in there but can't see where it came from. The spring was pretty messed up looking, and by memory, I think i remember feeling it get caught up in the gears one trip. It feels like new to use again except for the baitrunner not wating to disengage without me having to flick it into gear. Its got me beat 😅
I feel your pain, does the spring look damaged, if not you can find schematics online, study it carefully as I've done many times when I get stuck, you will find where is goes eventually but does take alot of patience Let me know how you go
@hkeepingitreel7441 I've watched a few videos and none seem to be missing. My old man has another one that plan on pulling down to compare. To me it feels like the leaver for the baitrunner is stiff. Have hit it with yield oil penetration to see if it will free up
The old baitrunners are built like tanks but the new improvements in technology make the new reels alot more enjoyable to use, way more smooth but if the old reels are serviced and bearings checked, shouldn't have any issues using them
Hi, I have Shimano aero gt6010 and the spool skips when clutch is tight, as if it jumps over spool location pins on main spindle? Tried different spools which work fine on other reels. Any ideas? Thanks
Close ups are awesome gives more detail to your work
Thanks keep up the great work
Thanks mate
I guess I should do this, my 4500 is a 25 year old "go to"!
I've been too scared until now 😉
Great reel, wish I didn't get rid of my set few years back
Take your time, you'll be right

That would be good option if you have another to compare with, take photos of each step as reference
Hey man whats your thoughts on the old baitrunners, this one vs the new baitrunners??

I can only guess, might be a damaged gear tooth
Can't be 100% without opening it up
