I have discovered that I had planner peace until I fell down the rabbit hole of following what’s trending!! What one big TH-cam content provider uses everyone follows. I have discovered that’s caused me great chaos and a lot of unnecessary spending. I like what you said use what’s right for you and stop chasing everything else!
Sam, I’ve watched your videos for years and all your exploration. I think this is my favorite video. I love the weeks, but we don’t click. But it isn’t how you use it that captivated me, it is what you had to say. I love how you so elegantly shared all the advantages of sticking with whatever book you have. l may have to save this video to watch again when I am feeling restless with my book. Fortunately I have a system that I can make work in anything, so the hard part is done.
Yes! All of this. The wasteful spending by hopping around is a big trigger for me. Some people like planner hopping, but i find it very stressful. Like you said... i think about all the other things I'd have time for if i was just set in my system. I need to stop buying Common Planners from Sterling Ink... they are gorgeous, but dont work for me and i need to stop thinking "this time it will work for me"... listen lady it wont! 😅 😂 i love seeing you so settled and content in your choices!!! I needed this today! Thanks Sam!
“Listen lady, it won’t!” Gosh, how many times I’ve needed to say this to myself!! I hope you are content in your system, and stay away from the eye candy!
I love your chatty videos. I play them and listen while I get ready for work. Thank you for making them. Sometimes I can’t sit and watch a video so a chatty video is perfect 🖤
I have been having the most contentment in a $2 fat little pocket notebook from Walmart than I have been in anything else in a long time. I have been consistent every single day and it's filled with little tasks, memories, ideas, etc. that encompasses about 3 months worth of time. And the fact I can set it up fresh each quarter allows me to have that "new planner" feel that I am always chasing but maintaining what is working without the big expense. I LOVE that you are so comfortable in your system and honestly your style of planning is similar to mine so I don't find this boring to look at at all. I hope you love the mega just as much!
Thank you for this video! I basically like simplicity a little bit of decor but very simple and clean cut. After watching so many TH-cam videos you get caught up in the trap of thinking how pretty and nice their planners look and you try those. I’ve tried almost every size this year and guess what I came back to my week size which is what I started with. It’s hard not to fall down the trap thinking you need something better when if you just stop and look at what YOU truly need, you’ll find planner peace.
I have always considered myself a planner wanna be…. Want all the things… I have tried all of them… I always go back to the cheap monthly 2 yr calendar and small notebook…. and it’s perfect for me… and it’s my system! FOMO is real and I need to quit searching for what I already have! I will have this video on repeat! Thanks Sam! Awesome video!
I have to admit I had Planner Peace until I discovered Planner Flips on TH-cam. After a couple of years of experimenting with different layouts and sizes, I have Planner Peace again! It was a good phase because my planner needs had changed considerably, and I enjoyed trying new set ups. Hearing the Pros/Cons, Likes/Dislikes, etc. of others really helped me to nail down my own preferences. I have pretty much gone back to my old system, with the exception of eliminating monthlies. Planners, Journals, and Memory-Keeping remain 3 separate Hobbies for me, requiring 3 different kinds of books. I'll still watch flips, but I know what I like and what I am capable of recreating, and that has helped me a lot to find Planner Peace! Your analysis and observations have been very helpful! (But I will never use a Hobonichi Weeks, ha ha!)
Sam, I follow you because you're so real....and I appreciate your perspective! Thanks for your videos, I know you are a busy little lady....but I hope you're doing well.
I looked back through my old Hobonichi weeks since 2018 yesterday. I realised my current layout that's perfect, only evolved in H2 2023. So even in a planner you love, how you use it develops. But you need to give it time. I realised 3 weeks isn't long enough. I seem to recall you enforcing a month in your weeks recently and hit peace.
When I know a planner works for me, but I’m feeling restless, I often give myself a challenge to use it for one month. I’ve had to do that several times now!
After that last video about your Weeks being your memory keeper, etc., I decided to order one for 2025. I have been thinking of telling you to help me stick with it! lol I bought the light blue Mega one. I love your stickers you have been using for October!
Learning to just not go with what everyone else is doing has been huge (for me) I love travelers notebooks but I always felt like I was doing it "wrong" because when you search those, all you see are people traveling and doing these very fancy (and pretty) spreads full of ephemera and that's just not me... so I do my own thing in my TN (which is bullet journal style planning and journaling with some stickers/photos) and it works soooo good for me. Been in it for two years now and it's so peaceful. I have no desire to change. FOMO is gone too. “It’s not your planner - it’s mine.” are words to live by! Thanks Sam! I always love your content, btw!
Sounds like you have a great system! I’m really hoping I’ll feel the same about the back pages instead of being annoyed at the extra thickness. 😅 I’ve used it happily before. 🤞🏻
every single year i get the hobonichi weeks-itch. for 2025, i bought a weeks mega, a midori hibino, and a hobonichi 5 year. that's it. i have other notebooks ro research projects or notetaking but that will be my system. i was in sterling ink for a minute but there was something about it where i couldn't connect. it was almost too pretty - i like hobonichi's quirks. this time of year, quarter 4, i always want a weeks because it makes me feel like i have my shit together. it's so compact, the paper works with my fountain pens, and its' no frills. i plan pretty simply -- appointments on the left, tasks on the right. i also fell off my journaling and memory keeping this year because i was hopping around so much and didn't know where to memory keep or even daily log. something that kept me out of the weeks was the fact that i thought i wouldn't have enough pages for daily logs, but in my day to day planning, i don't even make that many daily logs - i just like seeing people make them! my work schedule is the same everyday (i'm a public school teacher). but sometimes i like to log my day or create an outline of my day to feel like i can tackle it. anyway...long story short, i think the weeks as an EDC will be perfect, hibino as my journal will be fun to try, and the 5 year is new for me but i'm so excited to see how it goes. i have a few goals i want to accomplish in the next few years and i'm really excited to log them and to see the journey leading up to them. thanks for sharing!
It sounds like you have your plan together! I agree about the sterling ink. I pre-ordered one last year, and it almost felt too “clean”. And I didn’t like the cover.
I’ve done a lot of hopping throughout the years but always end up back in either an Erin Condren or some form of Hobonichi. Currently it’s the cousin. I plan to keep a weeks, a6, and a cousin for 2025 that way I can hop a little bit without feeling guilty and losing all my information. Planner launches are a huge trigger for me. In April when EC releases their planners I always buy them use for a couple months until the Hobonichi release then Hobonichi until the next EC release. It’s a viscous cycle. In 2024 I also tried Sterling Ink but very quickly realized those undated pages don’t work for me. I love these kind of videos Sam!
I have planner peace and definitely agree with all of your points! I had so much trouble at the beginning of 2024 finding a good planner because I knew I wanted something with a Hobonichi Weeks layout, but bigger. I scoured the internet, posted in online planner groups, and could not find anything. I found a couple that were close, but nothing that was exactly right. I ended up getting a horizontal Sterling Ink N1 planner and I've been happily using that, but now that Sterling Ink has horizontal planners in all sizes I am SO freaking excited to tackle 2025 in my new bigger A5. That is truly my dream planner. And I can happily watch all of the TH-cam videos of everyone with their different planners and their systems and that is awesome for them, but mine really works for me, so I'm going to stick with it.
Glad you found a planner that suits you! I use, and love, the Paperblanks planner since 2011. Do you know these planners? They have also a so called Verso lay-out, planning left and notes on the richt, in different sizes. The paper is awesome and fountainpen friendly.
OMG it's like you came into my house, looked around a bit and said "Lesa we need to have a talk about your planner situation." hhahaha. seriously though I like the non judgemental vibe of your video and it's making me realize I need to get on the stick about my system before I end up in the looney bin broke and drooling with a straight jacket on lol I just need to look at what I have used in the past and what works and just roll with it.

I literally have made myself anxious and stressed figuring out my 2025 stack. You have made so many points. More time for actual planning…yes. I biggest thing is I need a second brain to put everything because life is getting busy with 2 kiddos. This video Sam has been what I needed right now…a nudge to be still, stop and plan 😅
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️. I love your videos. You are like the friend I don't have that understands all my planner woes. I have been so unorganized this year, because of planner hopping between hobo weeks, stalogy and planner perfect tn system (not counting a few sterling ink planners I barely use). Hobo weeks 2025!!!! Thank you for sharing! I love your videos!
I was in the planner Perfect TN system for about a year and a half, I actually really loved the system and the long form daily writing was right up my alley! The reason I stopped is the insane cost $55 a month for subscription boxes plus $200 leather covers was killing my budget. For the vast majority of people in this economy it’s not affordable 😢 but definitely had planner peace in that system and have been hopping around since.
To me waiting is the key. I’ve pretty much decided what I’m going to use for 2025 before the Hobonichi launch (kind of have to. Or else I wouldn’t know what to order from them and I don’t want to repeat the same mistake of placing multiple orders and losing $$$ on shipping). I was at peace until somehow fell into the rabbit hole of seeing other people using TN as planner + common place + journal. Their TNs are so pretty. Now I want to try that out 😂 I’m putting that urge off right now. Normally the desires for new stuffs would die out in a few months, if not weeks. If it doesn’t die out, okay then it’s probably a sign that I should start to put aside a budget for it. Basically, I just try to make it a sloooow process to get new stuffs. It’s hard though. I’m hopelessly impulsive when it comes to throwing away hard earned money 😅
Why isn’t there a a5 cousins in a6 size? Is it a needle in a haystack? Monthly weekly daily all in one planner? Sounds perfect to me. I’ve looked all over online for one.
love this video. I was kinda heartbroken, when I tried the hobonichi (avec) and found i hated the daily format about halfway through the months. The money and paper waste is really the hardest part for me, though you live and you learn. Ironically i think the sterling ink specifically the vertical will be the best fit for me, but i only figured this out by trying everything i hated 😂😩 its so difficult though esp with social media and seeing all the hype around the systems that work with other people. but i can't wait to find my own planner peace. i think im nearly there
Vielen Dank für das hilfreiche Video. Ich liebe den Weeks Planer sehr…. Möchte für 2025 eigentlich! den Cousin probieren … aber brauche ich das? Noch bin ich mir nicht sicher…

Now I want to try that out 😂
I’m putting that urge off right now.
Yes! And I always seem to look for a cover first, before I know if it will work for me. 😅 Good luck holding off temptation!
Why isn’t there a a5 cousins in a6 size? Is it a needle in a haystack? Monthly weekly daily all in one planner? Sounds perfect to me. I’ve looked all over online for one.
I know! Except for me not in vertical. So the Mega it is!
@@samplansjibun comes close.
Sterling Ink?
So true that we have our own planners to make it our own
Yes!
love this video. I was kinda heartbroken, when I tried the hobonichi (avec) and found i hated the daily format about halfway through the months. The money and paper waste is really the hardest part for me, though you live and you learn. Ironically i think the sterling ink specifically the vertical will be the best fit for me, but i only figured this out by trying everything i hated 😂😩
its so difficult though esp with social media and seeing all the hype around the systems that work with other people. but i can't wait to find my own planner peace. i think im nearly there
Wasting is difficult, but if you ultimately find your perfect system, it was worth it!
Vielen Dank für das hilfreiche Video.
Ich liebe den Weeks Planer sehr….
Möchte für 2025 eigentlich! den Cousin probieren … aber brauche ich das?
Noch bin ich mir nicht sicher…
The cousin is too much planner for me personally, and I don’t prefer the vertical layout. But, get what you want!
What do u use the little notebook for?
Grocery lists, to do lists, brain dumps. All the stuff I’m not sure I want to have in my planner, but need to get out of my head and onto paper!
Love it!!
Great video ❤ no planner peace for me yet but that’s ok 😂 I can’t seem to consistently plan anyway. Maybe one day 😂
You and my husband! And that’s perfectly okay!!
I havent found the right planner yet for me or planner peace 😢 just been using a notebook 📓 i do love watching peoples creativity though
Maybe the notebook IS your planner peace!!
Oh it’s like you did this video from my own brain.
Thank you!
