I'm skeptical about soft toothbrushes as in university they teach us that soft ones are not effective enough in plaque removal. Wanted to see someone who actually tested these things before I rant on somewhere without knowing any better. So guess the problem really is that these ones offer very little subgingival plaque removal
So yes ultimately the problem with these particular brushes is not the softness but the uniform length and compactness of the bristles, which makes it difficult for them to go sub-g. Generally though, soft bristles are sufficient for plaque removal. Plaque is pretty soft, and usually the problem is not bristle softness but user technique. I would say extra soft bristles like they give after any oral surgery are less effective, but I always brush with soft and it does a good job.
Thank you for this! I recently went to the dentist for the first time in a long time and it has ignited a passion for dental care in me. The dentists gave me a toothrbush that is one of the best I've used because of how soft it was and I was looking around for some other toothbrushes to stock up on. I looked to these because they seemed very soft but with my early stage gingivitis it's a terrible option. Thank you!!
Hi There! I was watching some dentists talked about how wonderful these ULTRA SOFT tooth brushes, I was doing some research on "Ultra Soft" toothbrushes. Then, I saw your TH-cam for the experiments, thank you so much for your honest opinions & taking time out to do the experiments on these toothbrushes, according to how/what you explained it makes sense. Thank you very much for your time.
Thanks for sharing! I just got a pack of Nimbus compact and your videos helped me to decide. I’m making the switch from electric which I don’t feel I have as much control over and even the softest brush heads are still a bit too firm.
Thanks for the feedback! I agree, electric brush bristles are a bit too firm, probably because there’s so much power involved, they need to be more robust? Either way, not my favorite feature of e-tb’s!
@@askahygienist Have you ever tried the toothbrush "Revolation" by DentistRx? It seems kind of unique and I saw a few hygienist on YT recommend it, but it also seems a tad expensive in the long term. If it did work, I'd like the fact that it could make my Sulcabrush obsolete. I'd love to know your opinions.
@@sublimesamoyed I haven’t tried it personally but just by taking a look at the brush head I see it resembles something we use in the dental chair, the polishing cup, which we use to remove stain and plaque. However, the brush head on the revolation brush (as with the polishing cup) is so small it requires significant technique and training to use properly and the bristles don’t look like they would get under the gums very well. Overall I think this brush would be great to use for surface stains but not for general use and particularly not effective at removing plaque at and underneath the gums. Hope this helps!
Just got these, and they leave my teeth sooooooo smooth, never had such smooth feeling teeth before with any brushes I've tried before, and they stay smooth throughout they day regardless of eating and drinking all sorts of stuff (which didn't usually happen with other toothbrushes) Should I pair them with a regular toothbrush ?
If you like how it feels then yes I would definitely pair it with a good regular brush to make sure you get under the gums. I like the Nimbus manual brush for a gentle, deeper clean under the gums.
Thanks! I did this backwards and bought a nano brush and then looked at your video. Lol. I will check out the Nimbus. As an aside, those sponges at the hospital are just to moisten the mouth of people who can’t drink water (either before surgery or if they are too sick to swallow).
Good to know about the sponges! Either way oral care is basically non existent at the hospital, had a family member in a coma and they would use those sponges, I guess just to moisten the mouth, not clean teeth…
I haven’t heard of Brevi! I thought I was doing a review on it but it’s a different company. Let me know how you like it! I recommend buying some disclosing tablets to see how well it removes plaque.
Thank you! This was so helpful. I’ve been shopping around for those kinds of toothbrushes and now I have the info I need :) To keep using my traditional soft nylon ones 😅
Some electric toothbrushes aren’t very great either but generally speaking, if used properly, an electric brush would do a better job than these particular manual brushes.
I just bought a 10-pack of the nimbus brushes because of your recommendation and I love it😁 my teeth feel super clean and my gums feel relieved lol. Glad I have 9 more of them.
Very informative. I think i originally showed you these toothbrushes when they first started popping up for sale a while ago😂 wanted to know what you thought of them. Makes sense now👌
It’s important to first determine why your gums are swollen. If it’s allergic reaction, or a certain medication you’re taking, you should talk to your dentist/physician about that. if it’s general gingivitis, you would benefit first from removing the source of irritation aka plaque/tartar by getting a professional cleaning. After that, I like Gum Detoxify to help slow the process of plaque buildup. But again, the toothpaste won’t matter much if your technique is incorrect when brushing and/or flossing, if flossing at all 😬

All the nano producers are unknown companies. If they were anything other than gimmicky then all the major companies would be selling them.
