      No, the bottom does not open up; cool idea though! The reservoir does not take up the entire bottom half though, it’s like a quarter of the whole flosser. So you could still use a little scrubby brush if you wanted to access.

    I just got mine in the mail from amazon. I'm curious if it will rid me of cavities. I know floride has done nothing for me. Maybe it takes a year or two. It took years for your teeth to get messed up might take years to get better.

      Please be advised since making this video, I discovered that Boka uses about 2-3% hydroxyapatite in their formula. For it to be effective there needs to be a concentration of 10% nano-hydroxyapatite. This may explain why it took so long for me to see results. I know for a fact that Dr. Jen’s toothpaste contains the right concentration/particle size. (I should have a link in the description of my video). They also have a hydroxyapatite-fluoride combination called Super Paste. I’m not a fan of fluoride but it is an option, and there are studies that show the combination of the two is even more effective. Hope this helps!

    I have never seen teeth this transparent? It probably have noting to say about the strength of the enamel. In my experience, the nano toothpaste is amazing. I’m 60 y old, and my teeth have been through a lot. I got parendontitis. The nano hydroapetite takes away the sensitivity as well as a fluoride toothpaste. I use both tho, flouride in the morning and the nano toothpaste before bed. Just to be safe.

    It’s safe to use flouride in childhood. I see my children have much stronger teeth than I had. But i use the nano toothpaste now. Im 60, and I want to keep my teeth till I die. I also use flouride toothpaste in the morning. I also use a powerfloss with water before bed. Sometimes I use a charcoal toothpaste to remove bacteria and toxins. I flush with hydrogen peroxide 2-3 times a week. Because I have peridontitis I have to be careful about my dental care.

      I would use a soft bristled brush but still make sure to brush toward the gums so the bristles get into the pocket between the gum and the tooth. I love the Nimbus toothbrush especially for receding gum issues (there should be a link in the description of the video under “my favorite products”) The problem I often see is people get worried when they see recession and stop brushing toward the gum line; plaque starts to accumulate at the gum line, causing irritation and more recession in the long run. Of course you don’t want to be aggressive about it (again, Nimbus brush highly recommend) but don’t stop brushing the gum line. A few other factors to consider are 1) what is causing the recession 2) what kind of products do you use/might be helpful to support your oral health Hope this helps!

      @askahygienist thank you. The problem is an age thing so I'm told. I will definitely look into the toothbrush you recommended. I use a gel on my gums and also sensodyne toothpaste. Also mouthwash. Thank you again.

    FDA kept Hydroxyapatite out of our toothpastes from 1969 to 2017. Thank you Japan for buying the formulation from NASA in the late 1970's; saved us lots of time testing to convince the FDA. Better than fluoride, puts enamel back on your teeth, stays in your mouth for hours to resurface your teeth (desensitizes) & counteracts acidic effects of bad bacteria. Dr Collins "BIOMIN Restore" toothpastes have both a 'calcium' and a 'fluoride' apatite to choose from.

    i got an electric toothbrush but shortly after using it the first few times it started getting very rumbly (at least it felt like it) and now every time i use it i bleed. it made me bleed for days on end even after i already shifted to a regular toothbrush. is the electric toothbrush broken? was it just poor technique on my end?

    • @askahygienist
      @askahygienist 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It sounds like a couple unrelated issues going on… it’s possible you’ve been using it wrong and caused some damage, but if gums are bleeding for a while even after switching back; it’s hard to say, I’d have that checked by a dentist.

  • @KrystalKolibri
    @KrystalKolibri 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Honestly, just removing fluoride is a huge win. Regardless of whether you believe it is a neurotoxin or not, it’s a halogen. One halogen in particular is essential to thyroid health, and that’s iodine. Thyroid cells capture iodine, oxidize it and turn it in to T3 and T4 thyroid hormones. But when we absorb chlorine (in our water) and fluoride (in our toothpaste), those get snatched up by our thyroid cells as well, but with less than stellar results. Cutting the fluoride, minimizing chlorine, and adding nano hydroxyapatite toothpaste will all do wonders for not only your teeth, but your overall health. This takes time too. Give it a year, at least.

    Why do the manufacturers of such hydroxyapatite toothpaste, charge and INORDINATELY HIGH PRICE, so that most folks cannot afford it?!

    • @askahygienist
      @askahygienist 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I’ve never manufactured a toothpaste so I don’t know the overhead cost, but my understanding is hydroxyapatite is a more expensive ingredient, especially at the ideal concentration/particle size (many hydroxyapatite brands use a lower/diluted concentration or larger particles which are cheaper and less effective). It’s definitely more expensive than traditional fluoride toothpaste but I believe you end up paying the cost either way, whether it be for a more expensive preventive oral care product or for dental treatment later on…

    One dentist online has recommended the NANO version of the hydroxyapatite toothpaste as being the one to use because it's supposedly helps remineralize the teeth, and especially, if you have xylitol added.

    I am an octogenarian who thinks very highly of Dr. Burhenne's knowledge. I am glad that this hygienist agrees with much of his ideas, although it surprises me that she is quite ignorant about the justificatins behind them. An hygienist is not a scientist, but a person trained in some oral care that is becoming increasingly obsolete. It surprises me that she doesn't mention the high importance of the recent discovered oral microbiome, bacteria that, although including some bad ones, has a very positive balance. To PROTECT them is the reason for giving up mouth washes. I have never used any in my whole life, and I have preserved all my original teeth. She says nothing about tongue scraping, an important step in the production of nitric oxide that our saliva carries down the digestive track. She does not seem to be aware that mouth taping leads to breathing througn the nose, which contributes to the production of nitric oxide. I have been taping my mouth before bed every evening for the last decade, and I find nothing negative in doing so. She also doesen't seem to know anything about OIL PULLING, an ancient practice that can be very beneficial to the teeth. Since I started doing it over a decade ago, I stopped having any cavities. . So, in the balance, this video is completely superfluous, but at least it does not give false information, but is just incomplete. We should instead watch the videos by Dr. Burhenne.

      Thank you for the insight :) I do tongue scraping; I was just following his video and commenting on his routine. Either he didn’t mention it or I missed it. I’m also aware of oil pulling; I have tried it myself and did not see any significant changes in my (already good) oral health. Moreover, the patients that I have seen who do oil pulling still had bleeding gums and other issues (probably because the rest of their home are routine was subpar). As such, I don’t advertise and certainly don’t swear by oil pulling based on the results that I have *not* seen.

      It’s possible; I actually stopped noticing it as much the longer I use it. it’s making enamel smoother 👍

    Judging by what you say on only rinsing with water after a nighttime snack, it sounds like your situation is likely far different than mine. I get cavities fairly easily, and id never assume rinsing with water is enough after eating. The particles would be stick in 5-15 teeth at least, producing acids and bad bacteria all night long. I would floss, rinse with water, then use salt or xylitol to help sterilize and neutralize the acids in my mouth. Perhaps not all of those steps would be necessary for everyone, but if youre like me, leaving food and bad bacteria on your mouth all night long is a terrible idea. None of this is intended to be health advice.

      Yes, I understand everyone is different; if I was prone to cavities I would probably be more diligent. My diet, lifestyle, and general health allow me to be more lax.

    You should let the toothbrush do the work on the teeth except for getting around the hooks.

    I would only recommend this brush for patients with severe disabilities, I see a lot of care takers who struggle with maintaining the patient’s oral hygiene and it’s difficult to put the patient through long cleanings due to their conditions. It’s not great but it is something they can do themselves and much easier to use than manual brushing

    I recently started using a nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste, and heard it’s best not to spit. Can I leave it on overnight while using my nightguard? Will it affect the material? Thanks 🙏

      I would do that with my Invisalign retainers no problem. If anything I find it helps keep the appliance cleaner :)

    People keep filling their mouths multiple times a day with known toxins eg,; fluoride. And we ask ourselves why chronic disease is so widespread.
