Seeing Javier so upset, hurt, seeing her friends talk about her. It's heartbreaking. Honestly, he seemed really genuine and gave such great info. That's how kids should be taught to give info when something with their friends are off.

When you lose a friend to senseless violence you are never the same. It affects you so deeply and you do feel so guilty that you were not there to help and save your friend. It haunts you for rest of your life.

Same. Seemingly has a good amount of empathy care and understanding. Sad for him and for her family. You know how high school love feels, and to have that taken I’m sure that is something that will stay with him forever and follow him into any relationship he has. That fear of losing someone else. Even if they were just kids at the time.

Even though he's obviously innocent I bet he was so nervous at the station since it isn't exactly a relaxing situation to be interviewed by the police. He did a very good job keeping his composure, I wouldn't have blamed him if he broke down a bit hearing his GF is missing and maybe dead.

Oh gosh, you must have quite a few stories to tell. Especially as a female you probably have gotten the arrogant attitude more often just based on that. And saying you're retired, if you were starting off a couple decades ago that must've been something. Hope you were able to use guys thinking you're the "dumb woman" clichè to your advantage.

I agree. I think the bottom line here is that due to Cody's conceit and Narcissism, like most people with this disorder on a really high scale, suffered a Narcissistic injury several months ago, when he tried showing up at her house, wanting to talk to her, etc. And he couldn't get anywhere. He couldn't make any progress. She actually turns him down,,,,HIM!!!! For a short little Mexican guy. It isn't that he really loved her; it's that for guys like this, the relationship isn't over, until THEY say it's over.; and the fact that she chose a short, Mexican over him really cut him on the raw. That's why he tries to get even by throwing her boyfriend under the bus; but it doesn't work, because his reputation precedes him.
Unfortunately, in the past 40 years I've seen this kind of thing over and over (only once did it end up with it devolving into Murder One like this) The sad thing is that with guys like this, it is never their fault. He deserves jail, because like Bruce says, I'm not sure these people can change.

Listening to Kody's dad is absolutely heartbreaking! The way he breaks down when he says it isn't about them anymore and how he is practically begging his son to "fix" the situation by telling the truth is just gut wrenching.
His empathy towards Micaela's parents is palpable, you can feel him imaging their pain and his duty to try and make his son give as much closure as he can. I just can't imagine.
Poor Micaela and her family. Just so much suffering for so many people for nothing! 💔

It's in challenging situations like this one where you really get to see people for who they really are. And Kody's dad is clearly a good man. He deserved better than this too. A lot of people in this story did.

@@nerunerimost definitely. Often times these stories you can look and say, Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. But sometimes, a kid has really good parents who try and raise him right and teach him to use his moral compass, and he just doesn't have one. It's not the parent's fault, but they will spend the rest of their life trying to figure out where they went wrong. Such a ripple effect these acts cause..

What the fuck to both of these comments “evolution” and “you need tough love”? I don’t fully agree with mkultras main comment because young boys will play tough sometimes but some of those people are my most trusted friends. Anyone in high school or above should not lay hands on you and seriously hurt you unless it’s freak accident and they should stop and help you right after. Also it should only be very light hands on you even below high school or it should always be mutually consenting and stop when one person is no longer into it. Above middle school we are too strong to play nice and actual hits should never happen unless it’s sports or boxing etc.

Something I really like about Bruce is that despite him literally being a lawyer, and giving good and basic advice that a lawyer would give, most of the advice he gives is just tips to be a better person.
Things that seem remarkably obvious to a lot of us, but there are definitely people out there that need to hear it from someone who isn't belittling them. Bruce's attitude is "Come on, I know you can do this." instead of "See? I knew you couldn't do this."

Check why the kid is running away and don't just take the Parent's word for it- Oh, they do this all the time-
Person is missing and is still in HS- doesn's matter if they just reached 18 years...
If they are reported missing, move your ass!
Watched so many cases, also with Forster Kids that were called Problem makers because they ran away,.... maybe check why they ran away.
I think there was the case with the kids from that big family that were abused by their Bio Parents and after years it came out, some were put in the system and got into Families that abused them ass well and i am not sure but when a kid reported it they were told "what are they chances that your parents abuse you and also your Forster family?! And sometimes I think someone seems guilty in an interview but they’re not. You never really know. Repeated, stressful interrogation can result in false confessions in people with a strong affinity for, or fear of, law enforcement and a personality where one has learned to "go along to get along" due to a narcissist or abuser in their life, or even just natural quirks. All the body language cues in the world don't alter reality, and everyone reacts differently to situations. It works most of the time with some of the people, some of the time with most of the people, and not at all or too well with the outliers. The idea that he is this tall athlete, and her boyfriend is this short Mexican guy definitely got under his skin. He mentions it no less than 3 times in a row talking to the police! Then, makes up an imaginary argument that Michaela had with her boyfriend, the short Mexican guy, and that she had been crying. After all, he throws in his ethnicity AND his shortness, both factors he thinks are relevant, and you can tell he feels these are derogatory.

Ex he has cheated on several of his girlfriends, this is a sign of entitlement. His aggression is another sign etc. Someone who never takes responsibility for their own behaviour but always blames others and plays victim is another sign again. This is where school, parents should react and not wait until something worse happens like in this case.

Example: Leaning forward can be seen as a challenge to authority while leaning back is the perp trying to distance themselves from the interrogator. Also leaning forward can be seen as confidence in their innocence while leaning back can be seen as them being relaxed because they know they are innocent.

I think Micaela had so many injuries because they didn’t know how to finish her and tried many different things to do the job. I grew up thinking that I’m not worthy of love. I found myself distancing from not just my wife but my daughter too. Bruce explaining how he grew up and how he didn’t follow the same path as a father. How beautiful his relationship is with his son is. I leaned that your past doesn’t define your future. I took my walls down and stopped fearing that I wasn’t good enough to have my wonderful wife and daughter. I opened up and let them in and our relationships are getting better and better. I also said, that he could say it quietly and gently.

Being judged for my body language is a great fear of mine as an autistic person. My body language and eye contact don't indicate my emotional state in ways most people would recognize. The whole pseudoscientific field of body language "analysis" doesn't take neurodivergence into proper account. Some people have a flat affect, don't make much eye contact, might be fidgety, etc. and it means absolutely nothing, yet time and time again I've heard it pointed out definitively as a sign of guilt. One reason of many to stfu until you have a lawyer, I suppose.

Since he's innocent, I'm glad the boyfriend had an airtight alibi because unfortunately he seems to be sort of naïve and he might inadvertently say something that would cause suspicion to fall on him and he could easily be blamed for her disappearance when in fact he had nothing to do with what happened to her. He appeared to be very concerned about her and he didn't hesitate to say that he thought something bad might have happened to her. I think if he were guilty when the detective asked him if he thought she was safe somewhere he would have said that she probably was safe because she had done this before and this was surely just another time when she ran away and there was no cause for alarm. Instead, he immediately said no, because while she had run away previously, when she ran away she told people where she was and this time was different. The information he gave should be helpful to the police. What a shame that a young person cannot walk to school and back home again without some monster doing the unthinkable to her. My thoughts and prayers are for her family.

    Dear Bruce and Michael,
Congratulations! Finding your channel has brought me immense joy. Witnessing your reactions to these videos is truly inspiring. However, what truly resonates with me is the profound relationship you share with your son. I've encountered a tough phase where I stumbled and lost my way. Now, circumstances have reversed, and my son is the one looking after me, which feels terrible. Your journey has motivated me even more to seek help for my own issues, to acquire the necessary skills and strength to properly care for my family. This time, after seeking assistance, will mark a substantial change.
Your words have deeply affected me, particularly when reminiscing about the times when my son was younger, reminiscent of your heartfelt stories with Michael. I genuinely value your wisdom, comforting words, and everything you do. There are very few individuals in this world like you who can leave such a profound impact on someone's life.
Once I've recuperated from my stroke and regained my strength and financial situation, yours will be the first channel I support on Patreon because you've truly earned it. Keep up the incredible work. I have immense love for both of you-spread that love.
    Warm regards.
    Kevin

Bruce is the Dad we all wish we had. I'm grateful you have such a good son and hopefully you can be grateful for him and his help without remorse. Maybe it's better to look ahead into the future and see what can be changed there instead of the past. Wish you a speedy recovery from the stroke, and happy holidays!

@@kokoskokso I appreciate your kind words. This encapsulates the entire issue I've recently faced and finally decided to confront. I've come to terms with the fact that I must seek help to deal with childhood trauma, which has influenced where I find myself today. I've always been apprehensive about confronting and managing this alone, but the truth is, sometimes, people can't navigate these challenges by themselves.
Having watched not just this video but all of Bruce and Michael’s videos, I've taken this step to regain the role of the father I once was and to care for not only my own son but my entire family. This is my first step towards being in a position where I can pursue my ultimate source of happiness. I aim to change careers and support others who, like me, have experienced prolonged suffering, hoping to offer them a chance for a better life.
It's astonishing for me to admit this, but I realize that to truly be myself and speak honestly, I need to express gratitude to a complete stranger who runs a TH-cam channel. Their content has ignited a fire within me and has permanently altered the course of my life. I'm sure I'm not the only one affected; there are likely others whose lives have been changed in the same way, even if this person is unaware of it.
Once again, thank you both and I'm grateful that fate led me to your channel.

Not 100+ years ago, losing a child was commonplace. Child deaths due to illnesses we now have vaccines for and accidents we now prevent (not to mention child labor laws), it happens MUCH less now.
Most people ignorantly think average age in the past was because people didn't live in to old age. That's basically always wrong unless there was a large war going on.
Average age was so low because child deaths were far more common.

Hmm 🤔 I honestly never thought about that before. I began to think that surely there had to be a term for that so I googled it.
There does seem to be a name for it "Vilomah" but it is a relatively new term.
There was actually a article discussing the term & encouraging people to share the page to make the term more commonplace.
It's so very sad that it happens enough that they felt the need to make a term for it though.
If anyone wants to check it out you can Google
Vilomah, A Word Not Yet Commonly Known, But Hopes to Remain Uncommonly Used.

The couple were military cadets and deeply in love engaged and they're still in high school. Just like this one.
