Should’ve let the female detective lead the interrogation, of a cam girl can get $270,000 out of him , an actual woman could get a confession from him.
This guy is absolutely mind blowing! To STEAL $250,000.00 plus from your family and then they even pay more money to try and get you some help and then you murder them!??? I’m actually speechless.. this man is a complete POS. May his family rest in peace. So sad.

Yeah this was wild. I can’t quite wrap my head around it. He doesn’t seem insane. My uneducated guess would be drugs were involved. What a complete evil asshole. Rest in peace to his family who obviously loved him
I'm an ex junkie. Going on 16 years clean. When I first started going to addiction recovery meetings I was SHOCKED at how many people were addicted to sex and porn. It was wild! And I live in Utah! I was the only opiate addict, there were some alcoholics, and the rest were all sex and porn addicts. Crazy! Love you Mr Rivers and content genius Michael Rivers! 👍
"and I live in UTAH!" 🤣. That just struck me so funny. 😆. I get it, though: One really just wouldn't expect all that going on in Utah, so imagine the high volume & variety in other states, that do NOT have such a pristine reputation. (Congratulations on 16yrs clean😊).
@@Anabee3 Utah's Opiate addiction crisis is primarily due to the regional oddity of most addicts here starting out on heroin and pills instead of starting out and the softer stuff (since smoking cannabis is banned by the Mormon religion; that the "Marijuana is secretly a gateway drug" thing really was a myth the entire time, who'd of thought!? :D).
These young people really need it, too. I didn't have an easy time of it growing up, by pretty much any objective measure it was at best "troubled," but it was a cakewalk compared to what some of them deal with now. It's not just because the world got more complicated, though that is a factor, it's because they don't have any of the psychological tools for dealing with any of it that we took for granted. That's got to be why they're so much more focused on mental health than past generations. I went hungry, I got beaten, sometimes I didn't have decent clothes to wear, but I also knew how to keep my head screwed on through all of it because I had at least twenty adults in my life like Bruce who could show me how.
Yeah, I didn't know animae was porn or what hentai is 😮 Thanks Brucey 🫡 I've been watching since the early days and watch every night 21:00hrs GMT 🇬🇧 ❤
Dude… that “emotional connection” he talks about is both sad and hilarious. That girl wanted your money, played her part and did her job, same as a cashier giving you a latte. Only reason she’d care if you died is because she’d take a pay cut. So pathetic. :/
That was not a cool thing to say about Bulgaria... Yes we have beautiful womens here and just because some sociopath can't control himself doesn't give you a reason to call us names.
This has to be the *stupidest* interrogation I've ever seen! The guy kills his own mother, waits for his father to get home and kills *him* then summons his brother -- who he says he's closer to than *anybody* -- to the house, shoots him in the face and, within *minutes* is using his credit card to get his rocks off... and you're trying to appeal to his *conscience?!?*
The guy cop sucks. He needs to go back to training. He doesn’t even let the guy answer or silence to build before he repeats his lame “you need to come clean” plea … it isn’t working with this guy.
My mom taught me very early - you grab the hand of someone you love who is drowning for whatever reason, but the moment they start taking you with them - LET GO!
should have also taught you thats not how you rescue a drowning person , tell them turn around or your leaving them, then grab from behind , i know it was an analogy but still inaccurate

I’m a recovering alcoholic with 29 years sobriety, Bruce is extremely insightful about addiction. The last thing to come back is trust, we are liars who destroy everything around us. He spoke about his family in the past tense, it took me a while to talk about either of my parents in anything but the present.

@@darrenhenderson6921 absolutely false. You’re always going to be in recovery. Anyone with decades of sobriety is still only one drink or one hit away from relapse.
@ you look at it all wrong, this is in your head, I knew a guy like you who just couldn’t hold his drink, he actually barley drunk but when he did, he was away with it? He was like you, not quite the length, but after two years he was in the bar and tempted to get himself a double scotch I am Scottish, we all convinced him to get a soft drink instead and immediately after we all ordered double whiskeys and pints ect, it me think, the issue isn’t that alcohol, it’s an addictive personality, this is what you would be treated for in the UK not sobriety issues, I can’t imagine not having a drink on new year, people in Scotland and Ireland would genuinely take it as an insult and refuse to be in the company of a man who can’t have a drink, it’s odd, but recognising you cannot handle drink is great, but don’t you ever think after all those years you maybe have the ability to control it better, even have a third party look after your money and enjoy a bottle of sherry or port, something to savour as you clearly have a constitution that permits you to fully absorb alcohol, under control you could be missing out, you could be a connoisseur or something
Agree with JCS completely. Horrible interrogation from the male detective and every time the female detective tried to "save" it the male would interrupt her. If I were her, I would not want to do an interrogation with him ever again.
He was the worst. I've watched so many interrogations, and that cop is by far the worst investigator I've ever seen in an interrogation room. If that lady was alone.... she might have gotten a confession.
I was shocked what a mess he was. He just kept going into these nonsense metaphors and pleas to morality from someone they know is a cold blooded killer. Talking about Jesus and the virtue of telling the truth, meanwhile this man shot his mother in the back of the head
@@slaymyface1357Nonsense! If YOU defraud the bank, of course they are going to try to make you pay it back! But if someone else abuses your credit card or your bank account they don’t come after you, but they aren’t going to let you defraud them and then claim it is someone else’s responsibility.
@@slaymyface1357What?! So, I doubt they could make him pay for their fvck ups. My mom passed away suddenly and I had to deal with plenty of banks and debt collectors trying to hit me up, guilt trip me or in a few cases just literally try and threaten me with jail and/or physical violence. One lady even said she would go into my work and "talk with my boss about garnishing my wages" 😂 My "boss" would have laughed in their face and then either ignored them or kicked them out! And after at least 5 years they still try and fail, and I'm still waiting on those police officers to show up and arrest me for not paying off my junkie mom's failed debts & mistakes. They can try all they want, they can ask or demand all they want, they can threaten and act like petulant children as much as they want. There's nothing intimidating about that behavior to me, their anger only feeds my happiness, if I am being honest. Unscrupulous people don't deserve my sympathy, and anyone purposely buying other people's outdated or old/paid debts are just asking for headaches and mockery if they're going to try and force others to pay for the deeds of their family, especially if estranged.

I hear you. I read he was fired for stealing drugs and for messing with patients’ medication. I’ll bet he stole their medications. What a POS. Can you imagine being in pain and having your Nurse take your meds while telling you they’d given you all they could? Appalling! He should’ve gone to jail for that. If he had, his parents & brother might still be alive. I’ll get his parents & brother got him out of that mess.
Grant DID work as a medical professional. He WAS a nurse. He was fired for stealing a bunch of drugs. I don't think they pressed charges. He made out like he took them by accident absentmindedly.
He did, but he was fired for drug diversion. He was applying for a home infusion nurse job, which he probably wouldn’t get, nor would he ever get another nursing job in the US (maybe Bulgaria, lol) but if he did…. he’d probably kill patients to steal THEIR money and stage the scene as a break-in.
That poor guy, whole family gone. He had to bury his parents and brother and live knowing his brother was their murderer. How do you go on with that? My heart goes out to him.
I imagine the only way you can is getting a new identity and going to a place where no one knows you. Go on a spiritual journey. Travel the world and meet sadhus and shit. Idk but I hope the guys finds a place he can call home and find some peace.
@@German_Matias I believe that if he finds God and a new family he can find some kind of happiness. His life is not over but he has to know that and believe it. I really hope he has people looking out for him.
I remember hearing about this case a year or so ago. Iirc, Grant got kicked out or ran away from home once before and went to stay with an aunt. He ended up stealing money from the aunt so he could talk to Sylvie. The aunt wanted to press charges against him, but his parents intervened and asked her not to. I think that was part of what Grant's surviving brother was talking to him about when he mentioned how he should've been in jail for the things he's done.
Classic example of what happens when people are shielded from the consequences their actions. They never learn, they never change their ways, and often only get worse. The parents bred the monster which ultimately destroyed them.
I can't imagine how the surviving brother feels. If I lost 3 of my closest family members, brother included, I'm not sure how I would be able to take it.
It's really sad that the only person he felt he had a connection with was a cam girl charging him hundreds of dollars per hour to talk, meanwhile he was surrounded by family that obviously loved him to have not pressed charges on him for theft of over $200K.
Hey buyer beware grown man grown woman yes you can have a conscience but you’re paid to do something and you do it then that’s your decision unfortunately people are not very aware maybe not have a family maybe all of that but what you do as a grown-up is what you do
Grant had very very deep psychological problems and his family were not helping him. They were not smart enough to know that they were enabling him. They even sent him to live with his aunt after this happened and he ended up stealing lots of money from her. He is a total nutcase and they should have realized that that he was beyond redeemable and put him in a mental institution before they let him anywhere near them.
Pressing charges for the theft would have been better than sending him to a $15,000 treatment center that he didn't even stay at. It would have FORCED him to give this chick up. At least for a few years. Hopefully, snap him back to reality. Probably not though. He definitely has multiple major disorders going on. All of which will never go away.... even with all the treatment in the world.

The male detective in this case drives me insane. The female keeps getting him to almost confess and then ol' mate chimes in with the dumbest additions and kills everything she's built
This is one of THE WORST criminal cases I've ever seen. The way he speaks to the detectives, in that monotone voice, trying to minimise everything he did - without showing any concern for his family - is both pathetic and chilling at the same time. This guy, and that scumbag Chandler Halderson, both of whom killed their parents to protect their delusions and lies, are the absolute pits of humanity.
i’m very shocked they skipped over the part where he wasn’t just caught stealing meds from the hospital he was also injecting patients with the stolen drugs to make them sleep thur his shifts!!!!! EDIT: Some people are asking how he never got jail time for this. His brother who was also a nurse found him a really good lawyer this just goes to show how much his family loved and cared for him. Sadly he repaid him by murdering his whole family so now the brothers kids are gonna grow up with no grandparents or uncles.
Wasn't it the sleuths on Reddit who suggested the reason why Grant was injecting his patients with Propofol was because taking care of his patients annoyed & inconvenienced him, so he would knock them out with that drug so he wouldn't have to do any work, not because of his pathetic excuse that he was "helping" patients whose pain was not being "adequately addressed" like he said in his statement to the cops. Grant Amato's entire worldview is a dangerous delusion. He simply has no connection with reality, probably because he spent most of his life thinking he was the main character in the stupid anime in his head, so reality was never his concern, only winning over his supreme waifu in Bulgaria because Grant has absolutely no connection with his feelings, his personality or his behavior, and the mind of a delusional narcissist is a dangerous & life threatening phenomena to encounter. To annihilate his parents and his brother so Grant could continue to see Sylvie is incomprehensible, so malevolent and so blind was Grant Amato's love for a camgirl he never met, talked face to face with, or embraced. He sat stone faced and silent throughout the entirety of his trial, and it's clear that his family were only a means to an end to him, and Grant killed him when they refused to let him indulge any longer in a complete fantasy with a camgirl. Reality is completely foreign to Grant, and he will never understand what he has stolen &btaken away from everyone around him. Grant is a violent fantasist who will lash out and use violence to get his way, yet will continue to play the victim and blame everyone else for his predicament. He is right where he belongs, away from other family he can victimize and completely away from the camgirl that started this entire saga of death and lunacy, for whom Grant was infatuated with, and having zero contact with her for the rest of his pathetic existence is the punishment he truly deserves.
How in the hell did they (his family) cover up/take care of/make the fact that he was stealing drugs and injecting patients go away?! And in one interview I heard him say he was going to an interview at a prescription company 😱which leads me to believe nothing stuck nor anything from the past, was on his record.

Evil = antisocial personality disorder…who resorts to violence in order to continue a pathological addiction. Evil can come in many forms. Scary. His apathy speaks to his depravity and sickness. So creepy. These people walk among us. Some are smarter or have more foresight than others to be selfish enough to stop themselves from ending up in jail and losing THEIR freedom! That’s the most we can hope for an act of a non violent selfish act. Can’t rehabilitate them, unfortunately.

With true crime cases, I prefer watching reactions to cases I've already seen unless I'm in a really strong place, mentally. That way I know I won't be surprised by anything too gruesome right before bed or in a vulnerable place, but it's still new content.
The thing that always blows me away with this interview is that if he was innocent he would have no idea his family was dead or why the police would want to talk to him. He just goes in and answers questions for hours, never asking why they want to talk to him. It's absolutely nuts.
saved how? Did she get a confession? No. Did they learn anything new? No. They had probably the most open and shut case of triple homicide I've probably ever seen... at least in MANY MANY years, and he stonewalled them for 6 hours while they talked about Jesus and honesty or trying to get him to cop to 'defense'. Neither of these two were strong interviewers, she just seemed to be less weak, by a very small amount than he was. They failed this up and down. Failed to understand how depraved he was. Failed to understand how addicted he was. Failed to make the interview about HIM. And failed to try multiple tactics. Just mention Jesus again. I've seen interviews where guys get confessions from emotionless, antisocial deviants, and it wasn't by throwing photos in their face and pretending they know he knows why he's here. They did it by appealing to the accused isolation, matching accused's contempt for the victims with empathy (hey i know what it's like to be kicked out/cut off), and, essentially, praising their skill at homicide like you would a toddler hitting a ball off a tee.
As a parent, I'd have had my son arrested for the theft immediately upon discovering it! Grant was never made to face real consequences for any of his crimes leading up to the murders! Nobody would have been murdered had they had him convicted for his crimes! Don't Cover For Your Kids!! Real life has real consequences!!
What perplexes me about this case is the question: how was he able to empty his fathers' savings and retirement funds?? Wouldn't his father have been notified about the banking activity?
If you listen to the entire interview, which is edited here and several hours long, it will be explained. This took place over years. It started out with his brother and father supporting him while he was unemployed and thinking he was spending money on rent, a car, etc. then he manipulated them into thinking he was investing in a “twitch career,” as a streamer. Then he stole credit cards, etc. it’s all in there.
@@Peter-zg3em Do they ever explain how he got his hands on the mortgage? That part kinda blew me away. I was under the impression that that's not an easy thing to do.

I’m so surprised that he’s just sitting there basically “chatting” with the police and he has not asked WHY he was taken in/why he’s being interviewed, nor has he asked for a lawyer. I would immediately say, “I don’t know anything, and I want an attorney…now.”
I really think that speaks to how isolated he was. Dude was willing to have a casual chat with the cops right after committing triple homicide. This guy has to be the biggest loser ive ever heard of.
yo, this happens a LOT. jodi arias did it, the guy who killed savannah gold did it. they're so focused on not acting guilty that they forget to act like a human person lmao
Just wanna stress that addiction does NOT make you murder people, that's a whole other set of problems. I'm 6 months sober from alcohol today! I struggled with heroin when i was younger as well.
it doesn't necessarily cause murder, but it does make addicts only care about themselves and getting their next 'hit'. with the wrong person, that attitude can be magnified to a horrifying and violent degree.
Right after killing his family he took the credit card off his brothers dead body and charged the call girl to it while their bodies were still on the ground. He is sick.
By not asking why he's there he shows subconsciously he knows why he's there. He focuses too much on trying to play mind games with them that he forgets to act normal by asking why he's being questioned.
I remember watching that JCS episode a few years ago and thinking how forgiving Grants parents were. I called one of those £5 a minute sex lines for like 5 minutes when I was a teenager. When my dad saw the bill you’d think I’d spent his pension like grant did.
Honestly if my son would do something stupid like that i would respond the same to make sure the dumbass don't waste money on this bs or any bs without my permission. @@sozdatelj no it was originally posted 4 or 5 years ago and then they took it down. Edited it and put it back up. The original version was much more cringe too.
The first slip-up I detected was at 1:03:51 in the interview: "My dad *was* a very like angry violent type person." Up till then, he had been careful not to refer to his parents or Cody in the *past tense* (as the police had not notified him of the deaths yet), but here he reveals something that he *should not have known* - that his Dad no longer "is", but now "was."
Grant annihilated his family on an impulse and then immediately used his dead brother's credit card to access the cam site on a public wi-fi network. I think you are grossly overestimating his foresight and intelligence if you believe that he gave any consideration to fine details like the tense he would use while referring to his family.
This is just sad. No other way to put it. His parents and brother died because they had finally told him "no" ; he steals the brothers card and in LESS than 30 minutes? My God. Absolutely horrific. Former cam girl here: I absolutely HATED it, but it was a means to pay rent and feed my child on and off for two years until I finally found steady work. I applied to over 400 jobs in my field (healthcare) but as time ticked away and the time between jobs grew, employees became suspicious of the job gap. If anything, I felt used. The things these men demanded of me were vial (think in¢est and b¢astiality) and you can’t react or else they’ll move onto the next girl who will do what they want and get the money. I was suicidal during those years. So glad all of that is far behind me now.
Just fyi, the voice isn't JCS. There is no 'Jim' - it's a team who produces the videos and the narrator is just a voiceover guy they hired off Fiverr or wherever.

Jesus. He should've went to jail for that. Then maybe he couldn't have done his other evil acts.
No way! How is that not jail!
With true crime cases, I prefer watching reactions to cases I've already seen unless I'm in a really strong place, mentally. That way I know I won't be surprised by anything too gruesome right before bed or in a vulnerable place, but it's still new content.
True story, i got into nurse anesthesia because of this guy. Watching these vids about him I was like "CRNAs make HOW MUCH!"
😂
The thing that always blows me away with this interview is that if he was innocent he would have no idea his family was dead or why the police would want to talk to him. He just goes in and answers questions for hours, never asking why they want to talk to him. It's absolutely nuts.
That female detective SAVED that interview. Maybe the male detective needed a vacation.

What perplexes me about this case is the question: how was he able to empty his fathers' savings and retirement funds?? Wouldn't his father have been notified about the banking activity?
He was a master manipulator particularly with the administrative side of things and would regularly impersonate his father thus eluding suspicion.
Social engineering probably
If you listen to the entire interview, which is edited here and several hours long, it will be explained. This took place over years. It started out with his brother and father supporting him while he was unemployed and thinking he was spending money on rent, a car, etc. then he manipulated them into thinking he was investing in a “twitch career,” as a streamer. Then he stole credit cards, etc. it’s all in there.
@@Peter-zg3em Do they ever explain how he got his hands on the mortgage? That part kinda blew me away. I was under the impression that that's not an easy thing to do.
@@rivercitymud he was cunning and manipulative. had enough access to these guys, enough time, and enough sociopathy. specifically i would have to look at the entire interview to see if that's discussed, but everything came out in the court procession. could probably find out on wiki how he got access to his father's accounts. i believe he stole his identity and took out loans, etc. the father and brother were both making good money and seemingly had tremendous credit.

The male interrogator needs a LOT of training . It’s like he thinks he’s dealing with a 13yo with a conscience, while in fact he’s dealing with a 30yo with none .
I doubt he’s had any formal training.
We don't spend enough money on training for law enforcement or enough on their pay!!

"Bulgaring himself." Bwahaha, that's gonna be my new favorite saying.
Language really is a powerful insight during interrogations. Whenever discussing those who are gone he uses past tense verbiage (had, was, were, would, etc.) Yet when he talks about his living brother and grandmother you hear is, has, are, will.
given that he spet 30 years of his "life: saving up that much money for his son to throw it away feels like almost killing a part of his dad...financial murder
Straight up mental illness (that was present for years) and addiction. His family only wanted to see the best in him and sadly enabled this terrible behavior. He needed a serious mental health intervention and permanent removal from their home. They had no idea how sick he was, and the depths he would go. This is a truly heartbreaking story. 🙏🏼💔

The first slip-up I detected was at 1:03:51 in the interview: "My dad *was* a very like angry violent type person." Up till then, he had been careful not to refer to his parents or Cody in the *past tense* (as the police had not notified him of the deaths yet), but here he reveals something that he *should not have known* - that his Dad no longer "is", but now "was."
defense could say he was angry in the past, like his childhood
Omg right, he was speaking in the past tense or such that long standing issues had just magically disappeared.
Maybe dad learned to chill
Grant annihilated his family on an impulse and then immediately used his dead brother's credit card to access the cam site on a public wi-fi network. I think you are grossly overestimating his foresight and intelligence if you believe that he gave any consideration to fine details like the tense he would use while referring to his family.
