    I am redoing an engine compartment. It has a couple areas that are bare metal.
    Would you spot the bare metal areas
    with primer and then use sealer on the whole compartment?
    Would you spot the bare metal areas, sand the existing paint and then paint over the existing paint and spotted areas?
    I could use some advice how you would prepare and finish this type of situation.
    Always enjoy the videos. Thank you

    I have a question for you Brian. I hear you say all the time about using extra slow or slow reducer. I live in PA and sometimes it gets pretty cold here. My garage is not heated with the exception of a space heater and then a few propane heaters. But even with that the metal on the car itself never really gets real warm. What reducer would you recommend? Love your videos by the way.

    Is there any kind of reducer that can be added to lacquer too slow it's drying process down every time I spray lacquer it dry so fast. By the time I start the hood and get to the other side the first sides already almost dry

    • @nasiruyusuf8782
      @nasiruyusuf8782 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Just use extra slow reducer and follow up with orientation coat has shown in the video if it is hot in the Booth and as for spraying the whole car or large areas you can use or apply the leap frog method meaning paint a panel or door in the driver side and then to the other side of the passenger area until you finish everything

    Is clear base just clear coat being used as a base coat?

  • @newagetemplar6100
    @newagetemplar6100 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I’ve had issues before where aerosol primer or base coat has been used 😵‍💫.
    This then leads to a crazed edge that you will always be chasing.
    Hence the need for sealer in this scenario. Exactly why I try not to touch metallics. 🫢
    Admittedly I still use 2k , generally stick to solid colours and don’t use base coat and lacquer just a gloss top coat .
    For better or for worse I still prefer to give a car a good coat of primer, flat off and then a first coat of colour, that way it’s so much easier to see any imperfections especially when filler has been used as it has a tendency to shrink or wear away quicker than steel , leaving a low spot. it also reduces the chance of missing awkward spots.
    After the paint has cured, flat off and give it a final colour coat .
    Sometimes I don’t even use primer at all if no steel is exposed .
    Admittedly I only generally paint my own stuff and race cars still manage a good finish so luckily have the option of yeah that’s ok .
    Painting is an art and a very skilled underrated profession .

  • @danlove4270
    @danlove4270 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

    seemed like you put the clear base over the fresh sealer without waiting for the sealer to flash off. Sometimes I get bleedthrough of the sealer solvents into the topcoat if dont give sealer enough time to flash. Maybe it dont matter with clear base? Love this channel!

    • @PaintSociety
      @PaintSociety  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      you have to put it on ASAP otherwise it won’t do the job. We’re dealing with extreme heat and Florida so the edges dry extremely quick. Remember you can always lightly sand after it it Dries.

    Got a weird question maybe. I've been seeing a lot of YT shorts of spray guns with the built in (sun?) lights. What do you think of them? Would you use one or do you consider them a gimmick? It seems like you'd get better use of one of those sun lights afterwards. You don't really have enough time to examine an area while spraying. It just seems like unnecessary heft to the spray gun while spraying.

    ..... wouldn't that suck if the color match wasnt dead on?
    Now be forwarned. I'm not a painter. Im an observer 😉
    Would you not be better off pulling the paper, checking the color match before clearing it?

      Since its a blend and theres no color at the edge. It will match without checking

    I would have taken the sealer all the way to the windshield for sure.

    Noise cancelling making your voice a bit thin, maybe it can be dialed down a little bit?

      It takes away from the fullness of my voice. Its a trade off. Not the biggest fan. No settings otherwise for it

    Brian you did a fantastic job as always, but being as anal as I am about things, I would be so sad about the results because I can see a difference in gradience between the front door and the door you painted. Silver is NOT easy

    Very nice work but still an ugly vehicle. I have painted three cars so far but have watched and picked up tips that I will employ when I paint my 67 Parklane in SS.

    With such a wrinkled and ugly car, no one will notice the nice paint job. Everybody is looking away.
