Hello, have you ever though about just having an accurate watch without the need of a wave receptor?. Since almost all sorts of waves are mildly harmful to humans. Is proven that even cell phones increase the heat in our bodies. I love the design of the watch anything like this without the wave? My regular casio is pretty accurate on its own. Heck nowadays even autos are fairly accurate...
Having or not having a wave Ceptor will not change the influence of waves on you, they are ALWAYS there, this just has the option to "listen" to them 😁

I had the rubber strap version of it. Ordered from Japan. The best thing about the watch: 1) The look. It is really noticeable outdoor. 2) Really light, you don't even feel the watch is there so be careful. 3) Super readable even in heavy sunlight. And the number is huge. You can turn on the blue light if in the dark. 4) You can set and see the full date calendar on the watch. Like 14 03 1967. Probably the only that have this feature. While the other negative would be: 1) The strap. I hope I can find proper third party replacement for it because, rubber strap tend to break down easily compare to the metal one. 2) The watch face. Need to find alternative watch face protector since accident could happened. Overall, it is really a good watch especially for 80's kids like me.
I purchased the Wave Ceptor LCW-M170TD for my father, and wow, just a well put together watch, solar, multi band 6, 100m water resistance, titanium and slim, with a nice dial and hands that go to sleep when kept in darkness for a while, but spring back to their intended position when brought back into light.
I've been a happy owner of one of these for about a year now. I have the "sportier" version with the black plastic parts and band, for me it looks better because it's not even trying to look more than what it is, while the metal version tries and fails because of the cheap looking grey plastic. All in all a very good Casio, nowadays it's my daily driver. I think it looks way better than its round (WV-58) cousins. Recommended! Nice review as always!
I have the one being reviewed and at the time bought the round one that you have for a brother. It is very nice watch, all you need with chrono, countdown world time etc. Because of the waveceptor function i use it to set my others watches.

First Casio like this one that I got was some time in the mid 70s. In 1982 I was reaching under a DEC PDP8 in a 19" rack that my secretary was tilting over so I could reach under it and she let the rack fall on my wrist, breaking the crystal. Got another the same that lasted about 20 years and picked up another in the late 90s after the chrome 'skin' started peeling off the case. My issue is that they are getting hard to find, most'fashion' watches are basically wall clocks strapped to your wrist and it seems the bigger, thicker and more gaudy they are, the better, the Casio is relatively thin and functional and still looks good.
I remember back in the 80s when the teachers used to tell me that i needed to learn math cause i wasnt going to be carrying a calculator in my pocket all the time; I was already wearing Casio, Calculator Watch 😂 and now the Iphone, apple and siri does everything for me.

The ordinary battery that used on this watch is an advantage rather than bad thing. The cost of an ordinary battery is much much cheaper compared to a very pricey hard to find solar battery.
Man, I wanted this watch so badly at one point. And after watching your review... I still do! But as you said, if they made it in an actual steel version, I would buy it even at double the price. The fact that it isn't solar makes me sad, as well. Anything with multi-band makes me expect 'Tough Solar' alongside it thanks to G-Shock. Awesome work, as always, brother!
I am tempted to buy this watch, but probably need to draw some lines somewhere. (I currently have 36 Casios.) I like the shape of this watch, but I already have a WV-200DA-1AVCF, which performs exactly the same functions, costs less and has a 200m WR rating.
Unfortunately Casio switched in the newer models from EL to the orange/yellow LED backlight. It might be easier on the battery but EL looks so much cooler and better.
Hopefully I'll be getting one for Christmas, I agree solar powered would be nice and if Casio can give date change format on this watch ,why not on every Casio ? but keep up the good work I look forward to your next video.
I just ordered it, since I just wanted a watch that was always right to the second. (my wrist watch being a minute off from my computers and smartphone always bugged me) But hearing that it can dd/mm instead of mm/dd makes me absurdly happy. Being German, seeing mm/dd always feels wrong to me.
@Henry Ettoit Dunno, probably cause watches for the Western market are a seperate production line. They need to be, since I've never seen a Casio Watch (except this one) able to show Japanese for the weekdays. And it probably makes sense to just make everything US English format for the Western market. This one will also allow me show weekdays with a German, English, Japanese and some other formats. Also very unusual.
I don't know if it was just me but sizing the bracelet on this watch was a pain in the ass. I managed to break the teeth of two of the inner links. It's possible that I was doing something wrong but there was nothing in the manual and I couldn't find anything online. I have seized a folded link bracelet on an older Casio and it was quite simple but this one uses a different system.
A note that the M-D that appears on G-Shocks isn't a purely U.S. format, although M-D-Y is: Y-M-D is commonly used in Asia, and when you exclude the year from the dial you get a format that works nicely for both the U.S. and Asia. Still, considering most of the world uses D-M-Y, I can understand wanting the ability to change date formats.
I have that unit and still working and battery is 10years. But it only adjust if the country transmit atomic clock. But here in the Philippines don't have atomic clock
