IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE 3034 MODULE IT CAN ONLY RECEIVE ATOMIC CLOCK RADIO SIGNALS IN EUROPE. This module function will not work anywhere else. To get the US version you have to have look for WV-300 with module 3230. Also the Japanese domestic modules 2986 and 3012 like found in the IRW-100 and 101 will also work in the US.
I believe I paid about $125 (new) for this same watch back in 2006 and still going with the same battery. The engineers for Casio did a good job designing an exceptional 60kHz receiver in such a tiny watch.
I really appreciate you reviewing watches from your youth. I can totally relate with that. I’m glad Casio has a lot of those still available. Keep up the great work!
A truly old school but impressive watch. Unfortunately in the Southern hemisphere we don't have clock towers like in the North. I just love the style and simplicity of it. It's a shame it's no longer available.
I bought this watch about 10 years ago, and I love it so much. Of course it's a thing that shows the time, and has nice practical features like a countdown, which I often use when cooking for example. I'm not interested in fashion, so it wouldn't bother me to wear this thing for another decade, I just love that this thing never demands any action from me and always shows the perfectly correct time. The battery just started showing a first sign of weakness about one year ago, where the battery indicator went from level 3 to level 2 in the winter because I was constantly wearing long sleeves. I then put it close to the window for one day, and the battery was on level 3 for the rest of the year. The same happened again this year (once, towards the end of winter). Other than that, I never positioned it to charge it or to receive the radio signal, it always shows maximum signal strength. The only small thing that is slightly annoying is the duration of the long press, other than that, this thing is awesome.
Nice review!! Excellent watch for those who own them as they are self adjusting. The Power save feature blanks the display after being in total darkness for an extended period, and makes use of the solar cells to continually recharge the battery under any vivid sources of light. I actually own this watch and it was going to be the Truly last watch I was ever going to buy. Sadly, the case itself broke at one of the housing points for the bracelet pins so I can no longer wear it, however I keep it on my desk as it is STILL the most accurate timepiece I possess. It receives daily signals from the Atomic Clock, and the battery displays a Medium charge level. I purchased this watch in 2008, and the bracelet broke after 5 years. If you have one, treasure it!!
I'm sorry to hear about the case braking, maybe you can order just the case. Also if your battery is at medium try placing the watch closer to the window for a couple of days so it fills up a bit
Nice nostalgic watch and good times indeed! I felt cool in school with these kinds of watches, we could get them everywhere. I used to use the alarm feature to remind me when recess time was almost over. ✌️😁
Love these retro watches. I just picked up a Vintage Bulova Men's Digital Quartz Wrist Watch, Red LED Display, Made In Hong Kong, Circa 1970s at the swap meet for $20.
Very nice tutorial on this watch! I just happened on this video as I actually own 2 of these myself. I have always loved Casio watches and this one is the best model I have owned. The one I wear every day is still going strong and I never have to touch as it is completely self sustaining. I will probably sell my other one as I will probably never actually need it!
After watching your wv-59 video, bought one on Amazon and it’s beautiful, then days after I scrolled down on your channel and found this video, now I have to buy a wv-300. FYI, just found one on ebay, already purchased it.
I have 3 - two with the silver background and one with the black. After moving 4 times, I lost track of the spare links (sigh !). I got this watch to help me with time-based kickoff functions on IBM Mainframe tasks. It was always right on. The only downside to that was nearly all of our testing was on 3rd shift, right when the watch would be trying to re-synchronize its time the the world clock in Fort Collins, Colorado. I get asked by a lot of people where I got it (first one on ebay, second at JC Penney's in Phoenix, 3rd on ebay). These watches come up every month or so on ebay. The documentation for these beauties in Casio's Operation Guide for Module 3023. It has lots of minutiae regarding settings for the 4 alarms, hour-chime, stop watch, countdown timer, DST, PS(power saver), timezone, day-of-week/date, MUTE
In my opinion Casio is one of the most quality brands. I have my old casio form like....3th grade? I got it when I was a kid. That watch was in mud, water, sand and all that died is beep sound and part where you zip it for your hand broke, actually I broke it accidently but it can still be fixed. Batteryes are original, never changed. And everything else is still working perfectly. Really good brand. And I got another older casio aswell that I got from you if you rimeber? And yeah, its still in same condition when you gave it to me few years ago, and all is 100% working. Sound, optiond, all good, like new.....and I was wearing it a lot before....I even fell of my bike by speed of 40 Km/h and I fell on the wathc and it doesen't have a single schrach on it!!! There was just some dirt on it that I washed off....its terminator brand of watch. And the only one I have ever weared on my hand. So if you are looking for a simple digital watch and for quality in the same time for some normal price, casio is a way to go people!
This was my favorite iteration and it really was what I thought life in the 21st Century would be like when I was a teen in the 1980s. Smartwatches are from an alternate timeline.
Do you have more than one of them? I haven't been able to find one yet. I definitely want one for sure. I will pay $120 American if that is still the high end
It means it tunes to the radio controlled towers and sets itself being always accurate. It also automatically adjusts for daylight savings time, or switch between summer and winter time. You can find them for as low as $50 depending on where you live
New subscriber… thanks for the video.. I love your connection to the 80s retro design… we must be the same age 😂.. as I have my own infatuation for the 80s 90s …. I’m a knife reviewer but I started dabbling into watches.. leaking into my channel reviews lately.. very much enjoyed listening to you.. very well spoken 👍
That is indeed a beautiful watch. That said, I must respectfully disagree with your statement regarding smartwatches due to the amount of potential that's yet to be tapped into.
Nice vid and the watch looks great! Would have liked a little more about physical spec. Size, lug to lug, distance between lugs, case construction (metal / chromed plastic) etc etc. Other than that Ive fallen in love with the looks of this watch! A quick check online and I think I may struggle sourcing one (Germany). Definitely on my wishlist though :)
Nice watch review, what colour is the EL backlight? I would have liked to see it lit up! I can't see this model for sale . What is the cost? Keep up the good work!
This video describe what I love from casio, it evokes my childhood. But I'm afraid it's going to be really hard to find one at a reasonable price. Anyway thank you for making the video.
In their website, they have shown the location of the transmitters. Germany, US, Japan are only the places which have towers, and their range is something like 600 miles. I don't think so it is available in India, and also could be the reason why none of the G-Shock in India collection have multiband functionality
Finally found a US version on Ebay. It was way harder than I thought to find a mass production watch that was discontinued a few years ago. Great video by the way.
That watch is not popular because people don't know it exist. It was launched in 2004 and it seems not many units were produced in comparition with other models like wv-59, launched only 2 or 3 years later and nowdays very easy to find even new.
A shame Casio doesn't make any digital only, solar and multiband watches besides their G-Shocks. Give me a lightweight, compact, solar and atomic sync watch and I buy it instantly.

Turns out it only needed a few hours of sun light to wake up. Best $48 I've spent on a watch.
I know this is a 2 year old comment but i found mine in a thrift store fore 12 bucks. It also just needed a few minutes in the sun!😝

@@WatchGeek Perhaps there is no tower around my time zone, the GET function just doesn't work...the watch doesn't even try to catch the signal...
@@Lam9 Maybe it came from the wrong continent?. Apparently, the ones from US cannot work in Europe and vice versa. Shame about that.
Very very attractive watch with an unique smart dial, case and band. Surprising that it didn't become popular. Excellent video. Loved it.

When nuclear war happens, the only survivors will be cockroaches and Casio watches.
And Twinkies. 😂🤘🏻
EMP will likely damage most semiconductor equipment. The watches that will survive are the fully mechanical ones.
And lawyers
Chet Weeds - like I said, cockroaches.
Pac1fic0 And Keith Richards.
Excellent tutorial. Very explicit, detailed and even dummy savvy. 👍
what a review ... man i wish all reviews in the world is done by you

I own one of these, the low medium high icon has started to flash; does this mean I need a new battery.

Is the case also made of metal too? Or plastic like many of Casio's lower end models?
Where we can buy that watch ? 🥰
I have this ohne with „negativ Display“ and the
WV-401 fully metal too
Is it possible to get your version somewhere? I think a negative version will be very nice.
is the housing steel or resin?
Where did you get this masterpiece? I couldn't find online

It's the usual green, it has been discontinued so your only option is finding them on eBay or in stores that have old stock like Silvertime
