    Sagittarius 8+2 bay: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dma...
    JONSBO N2 (5 bay, uses 120mm fan): (The Ali Express link has a better fan, better vents for the CPU area, etc.) s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dkw... amzn.to/40w0xNZ newegg.io/nc523632ba

    For the ITX cases, I highly recommend this LGA1700 motherboard. 3x M.2, dual 2.5GbE, 8x chipset SATA ports. If you get the vPro enabled model and a 1x500 CPU or higher you can even do IPMI-like remote management! amzn.to/44lGiEB
    Intel 14500 CPU (14C,20T, lots of threads for the price): amzn.to/49XQFzS
    As for mATX cases, there aren't actually many 8 SATA port motherboards around. Mostly AM5 based ones.

    I ended up splurging for a Silverstone CS382 instead of waiting for Jonsbo to release a sensical micro-ATX case. Still getting the build set up but quite impressed so far.

      That Silverstone case seems really nice. Not perfect (what case is?), but it checks a lot of boxes. There is a really informative Amazon customer review (with photos) of the CS382 case from October 2023 if you haven't seen it already. I don't know how that customer got their hands on the case so early, but there are a lot of good nuggets and photos in their review regardless.

    Good find on that case! What N4 should have been. SFX power supply should make it look less cramped.

    I have this Nas Case and I have four 12TB drives on the left and three Micron 9300 U.2 drives on the right hand side. it is perfect for that. I didnt need any cables on the left as I'm using Oculink cables.

    They really dropped the ball with the N4. It should have been just the N3 but with matx compatibility. If there is not enough space for the psu, only allow flex atx or pico psu

    3:20 cannot store the pull tab and the special slide-in screws in the unused bays, which means they will be prone to getting lost. :/ I mean you and I won't lose them, but we will see these cases on eBay, CraigsList or Goodwill years later with these parts missing :)

    This is a really cool case! Similar to Space Aguria which I own - same layout, except it has 4x92mm fans instead of 120mm.
    I agree about the N4, not a very practical case unfortunately.
    Thanks for the review!

    Jonsbo seems got some windows style pattern ,one good case and the following one is WTF, then the next one is ok again 😆

    Nice find on the Sagittarius considering a lot of people consider the N4 a disappointment. I've also seen a no name 9 bay floating around aliexpress for $300 but no idea if it's any good or not.

    How many years later and nobody is building a non-tower matx nas case that is competent. One day a case manufacturer will notice how many matx server boards get repurposed for the home.

    Jeez.. Where manufactures left the heads.. Always some bad decisions with all NAS cases. Just bigger bottom for PSU, then it comes proper cpu cooling and two more HDD space in drive base. And it will not be that bad with the size of the case. Matx, 10-12 hot-swap bay and I will be happy.

    Sagittarius is cool but 91 dollar shipping?

    • @PeterBrockie
      @PeterBrockie  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It varies from each seller. That's typical on Aliexpress - just count it as a ~$200 case.

  • @spiralout112
    @spiralout112 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I assumed the N4 would be a n3 just stretched to fit a matx board, which yeah would have made sense and been the perfect nas case. How did they screw it up so much?!? So disappointing.

    6+2 = 8 drive nas... doh... you only counting 3.5" makes zero sense...

    • @PeterBrockie
      @PeterBrockie  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If it makes zero sense, why is the N2 from the same company called a 5-bay NAS when it has 5 3.5" drives and 1 2.5" drive? Pretty much all NAS cases refer to 3.5" drives when counting them with a couple exceptions (I've seen QNAP use X+Y numbering, for example).

      @@PeterBrockie ah ok so this world know brand sells a "non NAS" NAS? Synology Disk Station DS620slim... it got ZERO 3.5" drives...
      or another sorta well known brand has a "9 bay nas" but only 5 of them are 3.5" QNAP TS-932PX-4G
