- Lucky Lydia was part of 10 pilots that premiered on Cartoon network's 'What a Cartoon' back in the late 90's. It was created by Arthur Filloy and developed by Bob Camp. It was produced by Film Graphics.

Although this didn't get a series I can see this more as an animated short that would play before the main feature of a movie.
Yeah, this feels more like a one-off short than something for a full-fledged series.
No we are not bringing this show back
😧😔🥺🙁
I remember when this aired. Wish it got made into a show.
Hey there
Bro what's wrong with you dtoons? This show looks ugly and terrible I am glad it's gone
Rainbow Gimace
It was a show
I can definitely tell Arthur Filloy was involved with this... the movement is so similar to the Ren & Stimpy episodes animated at Mr. Big.
HOLY SHIT IS THE GUY THAT REANIMATED STEAMED HAMS IN DIFFERENT ARTSTYLES
@@parascryptor yea it is
Because was created by Bob Camp
a bit toned down though..
I remember seeing this cartoon along with a brand new episode of Ed, Edd n Eddy when Double D was hosting the second time on CCF.
me too
Man Lydia's parents must be loaded
Mostly thanks to her
She just threw a pot of gold outside in a pile full of gold. Makes me wonder if she’s just throwing away gold that could be stolen from anybody on their street or they have so much gold that she probably just put it out there because they have enough and I guess she’s all set for college or a trade school?
you can tell that she will be very popular when she grows up
No she wont
You sure arnt.
She got everything she can possibly ask for. What do you got?
This was the best Cartoon Cartoon short ever made. It should have been a series. I have no doubt in my mind.
bad luck for her.
No it ain't it is now canceled I will never bring it back
Actually all the design is by Arthur Filloy (including the sideways nose holes), the color is by me Ona Filloy. The medal to camp would be turning the premise into a properly structured cartoon and adding loads of gags. Still appreciate the comment.
i dont care what anyone says i wouldve watched lucky lydia if it had been made into a series
Agreed
I agree
sea serpent 91 is not awful but i feel this one off thing
This belongs on Nickelodeon.
SNAKEEEEEEE
ZombieMarioGuy is was going to be on cartoon network
Ed Edd and Eddy meets Ren and Stimpy!
Man I'd kill to be as lucky as her. She's literally kicking a diamond.
This would've been an official cartoon show
Well it shouldn't
why? I know it didn't happen
@@ronlivingstone1634 cause it's terrible and ugly and worthless
@@ronlivingstone1634 Probably because the humor is uninspired.
Out of all the pilots, I'm glad this didn't make the cut. The other pilots had potential, but this was doomed from the start.
What do you mean?
Andrew Steiner The character is annoying, the plot's too predictable, fuck the main character and the rest of the characters are stereotypes
I see your point, but I find Mr. Peevish and the music okay. :)
Andrew Steiner ok
Yep. :)
The reason why is because they allowed voting for shows. The two that won were Kids Next Door and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Wow!!! I remember watching this YEARS ago on Cartoon Network and being blown away I thought it was so funny. I've been looking for it everywhere since then and finally found it!!!
Oh wow, I didn't think I'd end up seeing this again! It must have been ten years ago that this aired. Awesome.
There's an alternate universe where this exists and tbh I wish I was in that universe
@@mohamedzayan706 Like the main character's boyfriend of Danganrompa 2? or babie Life in the dreamhouse?
@onafilloy
While the cartoon being animated incredibly well and has funny moments of it, I can see why it didn't make it. Style and pacing wise it's too similar to past cartoons, and it really hard to make a running series with a main character that always wins and gets what they want with little to none effort or conflict.
At least they gave her a great personality and a great smile
@@terranceaddison4599 To be fair, Lucky Lydia isn't the problem as is the story and pacing of the pilot itself.
I remember watching it in 2001 on Cartoon Network when I was a kid.
Why in the world would you ever make a cartoon where you actively root against the protagonist and lament the antagonists defeat?
it breaks the mold
.....what the fuck was that ending.
dominance... In the weirdest way...
James Rolfe probably loved it
This reminds me of Nick more then Cartoon Network tbh...
+HappyMagikarp ikr same with other shows too
☠PsychoKnight☠ Oh yeah I agree to that.
ya alot
Like how Ren and Stimpy was more like a Cartoon Network show I guess. Haha.
No No No No No No No NO!
The boy must be voice by Billy West
Dee Baker
beautifully designed
great color
give camp a medal for the sideways nose holes
Wow!! Awesome! Thanks so VERY much for posting this cartoon!! I've been looking all over for this!
Lydia is like Billy and Mandy fused DBZ style
Laraine Newman from the 70s SNL, did the voice of Lucky Lydia.
Oh man I remember watching this. So much nostalgia, I loved this short.
So thanks for uploading this, I keep remembering that it was a thing when I was a kid, and I never saw it. Now that I've seen it, I see why it didn't end up making the cut, considering what it was against in the what a cartoon show... I want to say either Grim and Evil or Powerpuff Girls. The shows that one usually lent themselves to deeper substance than this sort of thing with just goofy stupid stuff happening.
I never saw this cartoon before. I've seen the other pilots from What-A-Cartoon as a kid but not this one.
Thanks for sharing & uploading this video! :)
Awesome short. I knew I shoulda watched this 10 years ago when it aired.
I remember this! It was on Cartoon Network Friday nights
Thanks for posting this. I voted for this show back when they had that contest on CN, and was pretty bummed when it lost to Billy & Mandy.
Billy and Mandy is a tough show to beat. Even the pilot had the beginnings of a series that was destined for greatness.
I mean Robot Jones and Sheep In The Big City were part of the selection of pilots and they got picked up and those weren't that great so this could of had a chance but even this mediocre compared Billy & Mandy
@@m56214 Sheep in the big city was good wdym
robot jones that one was... bad.
U know what's the sad part? It's nearly impossible to hit her
This is pretty good.
that was awesome!
Lucky Lydia vs Milo Murphy?
Yes plz!!!! 😀
Am I the only person who likes this cuase THIS IS SOMETHING I WOULD WATCH AND I HAVE GOOD TASTE
Wished they greenlit the show though
0:58 yea, lucky, have fun with diabetes at the age of 15 kid, your really lucky
So should try that cola in High sugar breakfast cereal.
She probably is so lucky that she can't get diabetes
I wonder which of the ladies voiced Lydia. I wonder if it would have been better series material if instead it was about how it sucks to be so damn lucky all the time.
imagine her meeting Milo Murphy
This is creepy, funny and creative. Sure is like a rip-off of Droopy Dog or Ren And Stimpy but it actually has one co-producer of the original ren and stimpy series: Bob Camp.
Sure she is lucky but not as much to have her own tv series.
Love it!
This is a prime example of a cartoon trying too hard to be Ren and Stimpy.
This was created by two of the show's directors: Bob Camp and Arthur Filloy. Camp is also credited as a co-creator of the show.
Lydia was practically the Ultimate Lucky Student before Makoto and Nagito came along.
now this a short I can remember clearly
@onafilloy Oh wow! I remember this from when I was only 6! i can't believe you're the one who made it.Brings back memories.
The Animation has a John Kricfalusi-feel To It.
Bob Camp, one of the crew members of Ren and Stimpy, helped work on this short.
I remember this episode :)
I watched this since I was 9
I always love this show video when I was a little kid because I really think that it is so awesome animation show video in the whole world 🌟.
I remember this short! Soooo reminds me of the Ren & Stimpy show for some reason. Probably cause Bob Camp worked on it years ago.
Stressed Eric's antonym
I haven't seen this since way back when it 1st aired.
Lucky Lydia: What A C..C..Cartoon! Toon! Toon! Toon! Toon!
Lydia: Cool! 1:18
This was a funny short, but aired on wrong channel. It fits more on Nickelodeon than Cartoon Network.
Jezz 2018 already I guess we really are old but nice short film by the way :)
I love it
I... remember this...
LOL!! Did youi see how cute the three boys looked in those baby carriages drinking from baby bottles? Cute AND funny! Don't YOU think so?
I sure do! 😁
Wow. I can't believe they didn't pick this one.
Lydia looks like the ren and stimpy version of Rhonda from hey Arnold
That was way different than I remember.
Sapphire Shores: Apple Bloom’s Gone to the Doctors to have our blood diet red.
I think I remember watching this as a kid eating a bowl of Cheerios
ah memories =)

I wonder if she was born lucky 🍀.
She has gold coins that make her rich so she can buy anything that she wanted 🌟?
It is a CCW pilot.

@NegaRose13 Thanks for your comment and pleased you enjoyed it again!!
Sweetie Belle: Hi Mrs. Shores. Did Apple Bloom Come Out and Play?
OMG; best breakfast EVER.
Who made this cartoon pilot, did the character design, and animation?
Pretty glad this didn’t get picked wasn’t the best
i wish this was a movie, so i could say: FET - ISH - MOVIE! O_O
lol... The innuendos everywhere X3
that was crazy and creative. sad cartoon network did not pick this up. now that I think about it, cartoon network usually backs out on some of their best pilots. (search "cartoonstitute" to see their latest pilots and you will know what I mean.)
Yeah because most of these pilots aren't that great can imagine Cartoon Network without Codename Kids Next Door, Billy and Mandy and Regular Show
Dude, I remember this!!!!!!!!!!! holy cow, this is nostalgic. At the time when I saw it I didn't know it was a pilot for a show, I thought these were just random shorts. Do you know what that show with the cactus kid is called?
Prickles
I kinda liked the surly skunk. Must be Pepe le Pew's evil twin.
Did Ren and Stimpy Creator Make This, I Have Very Vague Memories of This Show For Awhile I Thought I Was Just A Dream
One of the co-creators, yeah: Bob Camp.
I subbed
1:01 Dat face
The kid looks a biiiit like billy
6:48 What time is it? I don't understand
I came to see this cartoon because I had a thought process after I thought cereal could be eaten with Cola (which I almost did) I knew I had seen the idea somewhere.
this premise is why a cartoon like coconut fred failed
O man I think I still didnt write when I watched this
Oh my! I wish i was that rich. XDD
I'd never have to worry about running out of things to do around this boring town ever again!
Sweetie Belle: Cool.
AN ELECTRIC LOOFAH
I can see why it didn't make the cut but my god had Bob Camp gotten something else to pitch
He chose to work on this pilot with Filloy, he wasn't conscripted.
Guess Lydia wasn't really lucky after all, considering that they never did anything with her after this.
Then again, we're talking about a girl who thirty seconds into her cartoon, reveals she's so lucky she ends up throwing away pots of gold which show up under her pillow so, it's not like the cartoon was really trying to give us reason to like the character.
Evil Starlight Glimmer in: Uvula Problem Written by Squidward and Patrick Star Created, Written & Directed by SpongeBob SquarePants
Yeah well...my dad got connections when he joined the free masons.
Really? Your father a Freemason!
They should make it a series but on a different channel and a different animation style
Can some get the closing theme music
i understand you. This is a creepy animation style like other series like Ren And Stimpy, Courage the Cowardly Dog and other what a cartoon shorts. I Got the same problem with Dexter's Lab: Chicken Scratch
