    DEWALT's FlexVolt line of tools, considered DEWALT's Premium and most powerful tools, are getting more powerful. The DEWALT FlexVolt 60V Brushless Reciprocating Saw is now model DCS389 and providing up to 19% more power than the DCS388 60V reciprocating saw with 1874 unit watts out. The new DCS389 has similar spec to the DCS 388 with a no-load speed of 3000 SPM, an 1-1/8 in. stroke length, Variable-speed trigger, and a super bright LED light over the blade.
    DEWALT changed to the game in 2016 when they announced the FlexVolt line, working to create the most powerful tools on the market. Many of the FlexVolt tools are considered to be more powerful than corded models. While the FlexVolt line keeps growing, DEWALT is also concentrating on bringing more technology and upgrading the current tools when available. This Reciprocating saw, Model DCS389, is one of three tools that are being upgraded with more efficient motors able to produce more power and better results on the jobsite.
    Bring In The Heavy
    If you are looking seriously at buying the updated DEWALT Flexvolt Reciprocating Saw, you probably desire more power and speed from your cuts. In my opinion, if you are thinking that you want the biggest and most badass saw to prune trees, look somewhere else as this is way more power than what is needed for that work. This saw was built for the construction site where everyone demands quick and powerful cuts through some of the toughest materials around. The jobsite demands power that lasts for days and a saw that gives them everything possible. When you need that kind of power, you won't care about the weight.
    If they don't need the power, there are other tool options. We will be working with the Power Detect 20-volt reciprocating saw in the near future. That is a saw that will be lighter but still have a lot of power.
    Specifications
    ADJUSTABLE SHOE: PIVOTING ONLY
    STROKE LENGTH: 1-1/8 IN
    STROKES/MIN: 0 - 3000 SPM
    SYSTEM: 60V MAX ONLY
    TOOL HEIGHT: 6.8 IN

    I love that the 60v line is there for a powerful option. I can crosscut eight quarter sapele like butter with the 60v circular saw.
    Even with the 60v platform, I still just use the 20v recip saw and angle grinder. Just don't need the power for what I do, and I'd rather have more battery life. Great option to have though.

    terrific tool. ive gone through thick tropical wood. the mechanic tried hand sawing through it quickly thought the better of it went through that easily and a lock no probs. much less vibration too.

    Flexvolt, great tools, except the sawzall ( avg at best) and still no orbital action. That’s what it needs. I’m heavily invested in flexvolt for residential construction, every other flexvolt tool is tops. Dewalt needs to revamp the 60v line, it’s been 4 years. I do like the 20v upgraded “ power” line.
    The Makita ( AVT) sawzall is great along with the Milwaukee super sawzall....if Dewalt (SBD) would send a 12ah with these tools and the yellow fast charger, they’d get more market share. Dewalt batteries are the most expensive. Milwaukee will send a 12ah with the kit and give you a free 12ah at holiday time.
    Great channel, great reviews👍🇺🇸

    I completely agree with you brother. We , the consumers reap the rewards of this intense competition between the tool manufacturers. I can honestly say that I don't miss extension cords and all of the aggravation that comes along with them. A adjustable shoe would have been nice , are you to put the blade in four different ways with this model ?

    I recently bought one and it puts my corded and cordless Milwaukees on the trailer (though I'll keep them too of course).
    I tested it yesterday decapitating a 2003 Yukon frame to harvest the 6.0 and it blew through those rails as if they were wood! The short stroke is an advantage in salvage work where stabbing adjacent parts just bends blades. I love this thing and it's well worth the money. So is the DeWalt DCF 900 which just replaced the Milwaukee 1/2" drive my bro brings on our LS hunts so if you need an excuse to enter this battery family those are good ones.
    A very informative material to add to your tests would be some pickup truck forward frame rail of the typical rectangular tubing variety found on GM/Ford/Dodge trucks. Recip saws are of MAJOR importance in vehicle salvage doing engine and engine/transmission removals for example in self-service salvage yards where time a extremely important.
    I hunt LS engines and related transmissions like many performance fiends and even as an old-ass retiree can pull two or three in one day. Cutting subframes, fenders and smashed parts off wrecks is a fine test of any recip saw.
    Weight doesn't matter since the serious harvesters carry their tools in a yard wagon. You could also "clip" a scrap car (cutting across the floor pan in the middle going doorsill to doorsill. It's entertaining for noobs who never did such things and I guarantee you'll have fun slaying salvage vehicles. If you have bros who own salvage yards it's free publicity for them or at least a little free labor.
    I use Diablo Auto Dismantling blades but if you find something better your viewers would love to know.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The long piece of cardboard was just to help everything pack well and not move around in shipping. The Dewalt Flexvolt is 60 volt, but the battery can be used on Dewalt 20 volt tools also. That is why the charger says 20 volt.

    I wont be upgrading from my original flexvolt reciprocating saw unless it dies but its sad to see dewalt only bumped this power up to like 1875 watts out unlike the grinder and circ saw 2300 or above. Its also sad to see still no rafter hook and still have not brought back 4 way blade clamp. You can however attach a nail gun rafter hook to the side of the tool and it doesnt rattle off like it did on my 20v model

    • @Patrick-857

      @NikkThompson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Watched that video as well. It was against the ridgid octane. He also turned orbital off and the rigid did beat it still. Orbital on rigid was through. 4x4 VS dewault not even halfway through yet.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Who did that video? I would like to see it. Hard to believe. The Octane saw has 3100 spm, only 100 over the Dewalt and the same stroke. I do not feel this guy bog.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OK guys, something is not right there. He even states that he feels a small bit of sag with the ridgid and not the dewalt. The 6x6 might have been harder to cut on that side.... and since it is him cutting on both side and never changes sides. I don't know. I should not say much since I have not done the test, but I don't see it. I can see the orbital winning in wood. I have a hard time with the straight up not having the Dewalt be winning due to less drop in torque. These times make it hard to do that test as two people should not be together, blah blah blah and you need to change blades and sides of the wood you are cutting.
