I have tried milwaukee m18 fuel and it is smooth and flawless. I have been trying to find something comparable in yellow. How does this do in that regard? Thank you.

      Does not matter in short term (day or weeks). For long term, disconnect them. They do draw tiny amounts of power from battery. If you keep them connected for periods of months or years, they could discharge the battery to the point where it can't be re-charged.

    Hi Vince,
    Well a few things are still missing on this DeWalt reciprocating saw. Adjustable front shoe and rafter hook but that's it.
    I do like the blade release switch on the side, LED Light and brushless motor. The style is the flexvolt model so not bad looking.
    The only thing i don't get on this model reciprocating saw is the wide opening where the blade gets inserted. It looks like the compact model but you can position the blade 4 ways. This model and the flexvolt you can't do that. I don't get it, maybe you can get some information before the TTR.
    BE SAFE AND HEALTHY. ....
    Thanks for the video

    • @AaBB-ks6oc
      @AaBB-ks6oc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the reciprocating saws with 4-way blade change use a crappy horizontal crank mechanism. Which adds a lot of side-to-side vibration. (basically the worst kind of vibration for a recipro saw) A horizontal crank is probably a more durable design for a saw that has a 4 way blade change though. But that feature is pretty gimmicky anyways, and not worth the side-to-side vibration.
      The Flexvolt and Power detect models don't use this style of crank so they have no 4-way blade change, and less vibration, as a result of it.
      Look up parts diagrams for DCS367, 388, etc.
      Why Dewalt doesn't know how to put an adjustable shoe or rafter hook on any of these saws is a mystery to me though. Pretty inexcusable considering Milwaukee and Makita have had them on their top end saws since about 2010.

    If you ask me, this is sort of how I think the flexvolt line should have looked like, total backwards compatibility. Sure, a multivolt motor or transformer would have made the machines themselves more complex and expensive but would not have necessitated an investment in a whole new line-up of really expensive batteries.

    • @tofan2622
      @tofan2622 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here is the problem player, you still have to invest in a new expensive line of batteries. Why?
      Because with Power Detect, the output of the saw is severely restricted with anything less than a 8 amp battery. Who cares if my 2 amp hour battery runs for longer at lower power? Give me full performance with shorter battery life. They give a fast charger for that reason.....

    • @abrahamedelstein4806
      @abrahamedelstein4806 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tofan2622 Yeah, but you can still get some useful work out of your old batteries with the PD-system, with the flexvolts, not so much.
      With the PD-system, I could probably survive investing in two 8amp batteries to start with while with the flexvolt system, my initial investment would have to be at least 4 of the 9amp batteries because without those flexvolt batteries, any flexvolt machine becomes an expensive doorstop.

      @@abrahamedelstein4806 I understood what you were saying, I think I mis-spoke.
      The Power Detect is compatible with all batteries even Flex Volt ones. My problem with Power Detect is that compared to a standard XR tool, there is NO increased output. It does NOT compete with FlexVolt because there is NO increased output.
      Whether you use the 8 Amp Hour Battery or a small 2 amp hour battery, the max output for the new Power Detect Reciprocating Saw is still 3000 SPM, which is the exact same as the normal compact XR model.
      To make matters worse, you are unable to get this max output unless you use a higher amp hour battery, thus making your older smaller 20V batteries worthless.
      If they made the output the same regardless of battery amp hour, I would have no problem. But as it stands, they are forcing you to buy a newer 8 amp hour battery in order to get the same output as their old XR recipricating saw.

      Not even close check out Workshop addict he does those two and the Milwaukee gen 2, the flexvolt is a beast the Dewalt power detect with the 8amp is more powerful than the Milwaukee with a 8amp and about the same power when he used the 12amp

    If it doesn't have the 4 directional blade forget it......not worth it. It baffles the mind why any new recip saw of any brand wouldn't have it.

    DeWalt most certainly paid you for this overly positive review.
    Power Detect is absolutely garbage, please make a video showing the same Reciprocating Saw with a 2aH battery. It's just not the same. I almost took mine back until I read that the tool won't output as much power with a lower amp battery.
    Why is this important? Because now instead of knowing I have a saw that will use all of my batteries and give me the same performance. I have a saw that only runs great on an 8 amp hour battery which happens to be the same size as a 6 amp hour battery.

    Good video. Yo @VCG Construction I would like to see it in a tool test raw but would love to see it go up against well guess Milwaukee. I have a Milwaukee rip saw and it’s a beast
