  • Too many times I would burnout when studying for better grades, couldn't find the motivation and be the dream asian student my parents wanted me to be. Despite that, I still procrastinated and would leave everything last minute. Thanks Jspark for helping me for the video :)

    i think you should mention a very impo point that these techniques are effective only for subjects that are heavy on theory.. if you have an exam like language or some history test.then it is recommmended to use flashcards etc to revise.. also that you can only memorize a limited content in such a short amount of time.. if you try to cram everything down in one night dont get any sleep and start cramming in the morning too. the brain will simply fuse out ..
    exams like math physics applied bio etc would require much more than rote memorization..in these kind of subjects the best method would be to go through past tests or mocks. if you have a grip on theory you would understand the kind of qs that you can expect and apply the thoery on the same line.
    yes some people work best in stress but when your studies become more complex and concept based.. you cant expect one night of studies to fetch you mark) ..if you are in hope of that..just dont because ypu would be disappointing yourself only more
    lastly i understand that not everyone has the motivation to start studying weeks before a test.. but this isnt to say this cant be done. studying requires discipline and its a skill that can be learnt you need to put efforts and a goood amont of time towards your subject because noe there is no shortcut available to get good grades

    This is the technique that helps me through the night. I study from the textbook first at night, then in the morning i practice the notes, half and hour before the exam i test myself. 5 minutes before the exam i revise the notes and the important points.
    If you are studying at the final moment just before the exam, note down the important points.
    Study the important points, understand it properly.
    In exam you can write your own words with that points.
    If you have a revision worksheet, study that.
    That should help you alot.

    My math teacher told me that studying (like cramming) the night before is not really studying. Studying is a thing that happens through out a course of time! Although it's good to have a review maybe the day or night before, you'll have much better understanding of the material if you study through out the unit (and keep on using the thing taught).

    • @alexaar4951
      @alexaar4951 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I agree, luckily for me I am able to reflect back on when I did the content in class, but if you've never properly learnt the content, studying the night before will not work. Cramming is also very stressful and tiresome. I'm really hoping to discipline myself and be able to control my time management so that I juggle things accordingly. Life is hard,,, 😔😔

    • @mh56487
      @mh56487 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Definitely, these techniques will never make you learn the information long term. They may work short-term to pass the test, but cramming flashcards and doing a few practice questions wont lead to long term learning if only done once.
      If someone wants to actually learn they need to use spaced repetition and active recall over a longer period of time. If they dont really care about learning and just want to pass the test cramming is fine, although its unnecessarily stressful imo. Better to just space it out.

    Additionally, if you choose a song that suits the situation or suits your desires and gets you pumped up, it can overactivate the neurons in the brain, strain the permanent memory and enable you to memorize pages in a day. Memorize or learn as much as you can in one go. Then reinforce them a little with tests and do this again with other topics so that the work-reward mechanism of the brain can work and remind you of even your deepest memories. Remember, the disadvantage of this technique is that if you do not quit when you reach your limit, you may get a headache and forget everything you have done.

    The key takeaways are as follows:
    1. Study Environment:*Start by studying without music or with classical music to minimize distractions and enhance concentration.
    2. MP Technique - Memorization:Use the "MP technique" which involves memorizing all the content using flashcards, mnemonics, or class notes. The presenter shares personal experience with memorizing flashcards for a business management exam.
    3. Implementation: After memorizing the content, implement it through practice tests. Complete at least one practice test, as 60-70% of its content may appear on the actual test. This step is crucial for effective preparation.
    4. Additional Practice: If time allows, do as many practice questions as possible, or review solutions to mentally prepare for the test.
    5. Effectiveness of MP Technique: The presenter suggests that the MP technique works well, especially for those who may not have had the opportunity to study well in advance. It is highlighted that this technique can be more effective than studying two weeks before the test.

It is very low because I decided to read 8 chapters instead of 13 (well to read and memorise 13 chapters of Life Science 5 hours before the exam is actually impossible for me) but I somehow pass the exam eventho I was doubting I will pass. If you are going to try this method, make sure you give full concerntration on what you are studying. Put your phone on DND. No matter what, don't get distracted. And don't pressure yourself! Im not happy with my own marks but hey, it's my fault that I didn't study earlier. But as long as I pass Im cool with it lol.

    • @Ggghubnnn
      @Ggghubnnn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Can you explain to me your method of study in a simple way?

    • @feffyy
      @feffyy 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Ggghubnnn my advice, which is totally personal and depending on your university, is to buy notes from other students that already took the exams you need to prepare for. I study simply from them, sometimes don't even buy the books, and I don't even attend lectures cause I work. Mind you this can't apply to all majors.
      After all this I just read all the notes, without highlighting or anything cause I feel it's just a waste of time, such as using flash cards (but it might just be me), and I just revise out loud everything and then go back to the stuff I don't remember to read it again and again until I remember everything.
      Another thing to consider is that in my country, our exams are 90% Oral, so there's no such thing as multiple choice, but you get asked questions by the professors and have to answer there in front of them, so sometimes I would build a speech beforehand.
      If you have a test, I would simply revisethe questions that mkight come out, and definitely ask some previous students what kind of stuff is asked in the test.
