As a Canadian, I hate tipping culture. And people have become entitled. Like why am I paying for your salary on top of service? People need to either stop working those types of jobs until employers start paying you livable wages or just go on strike. Tips are supposed to voluntary. Like I'm essentially paying taxes twice and sometimes the tip is higher than taxes. It's absolute bullshit.
I’m starting to get so damn used to listening to these man that I can understand borderline all the slang they say without being able to say it myself😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sometimes I have so much coins in my purse for no reason & decide I'm only going to pay with it. I get all times of looks from the cashier but only got embarrassed once when I was still counting & my ex at the other till greeted me. Why me Lord why me!
When I have too much change, I tend to give the cents of my total, but that's only if I pay cash. I don't care about the looks. You're not the one carrying this heavy change in your bag 👜.
LoL my fiance has sent me in to pay many, MANY times because he's only paid cash when the total has been like $40 worth of coins. Apparently I have a very friendly face, and people are always nice to me. I've never had a cashier give me dirty looks, or have an attitude. 😊😊😊😊😊
I think the only time I ever give someone the side eye for paying in all coins is when they say something like "It's the correct amount" all irritated when I'm recounting it after they just dumped like $60 worth of coins in my hand. Like ma'am if the till is short, it comes out of my paycheck so excuse me while I count. I never mind when it's customers who count as they hand me the coins so I can count with them at the same time. In fact, the more people pay with change, the less times I have to refill the till during shift. I worked at a gas station during the pandemic, coins became an absolute blessing. So don't be embarrassed about paying with coins.
@@HardColdReality well that's completely understandable in that instance, as you can't just take their word it. if you take their word on it and DON'T count it, then YOU'RE the one in trouble with the boss, NOT them. hell, last week I drove back to the shops after getting back home, and discovering that the woman who sold me my cigarettes had given $2 too much change.
To be fair about tipping, we here in America pay people less for tip jobs, so if minimum wage for a regular job is 12 an hour tip jobs are 8/9. This means tipping is the only way to make a living wage. If we just have people a living wage and then tipped because a server went above and beyond that would be great, unfortunately we don’t do that kind of sensible wages…
Service industry in America will automatically include the 20% if it's about 5/6+ people because the tips on bigger checks seems to fall off from the recommended percentage. If they were doing that with just 2 people that's a whole other story. Just some insight to our fkry over here 😊

For me it’s looking lost in public 😅 I had to go back to NYC for work and struggled with a parking meter bc they switched to an app and it took me a while to realize. It’s was a nightmare
TIPS - To insure prompt service. This was meant to be an incentive for good service, not something that's relied on by service workers to survive. Sadly, America allows workers in TIPS positions to be paid below our already too-low minimum wage which means they rely on TIPS to pay their bills. But it was not intended to be that way and the public should not feel compelled to provide TIPS when actual service was not provided or when the service was sub-par. Provide TIPS when earned, not "just because" and don't feel embarassed doing it! 11:17
About tips: in most food service places in the US, waiters/waitresses and hosts/hostesses make minimum wage. Here in Georgia, that's about $7.25/hr. Tips are often shared and/or considered part of their wage. When tipshare is a thing, the total tips for the night are calculated and split evenly between the workers, which can sometimes be VERY unfair. When tips are part of your wages, they tell you that you'll earn the minimum wage ($7.25); what they DON'T tell you is that your actual hourly pay is in the range of $1.80-$2.50, and your remaining $4.75-$5.40 must be earned in sales, and any negative balance will be taken out of your tip earning for the pay period. So, if a part-time waitress is only scheduled to work slower shifts for 2 weeks and isn't able to make enough sales to cover her own wages, and about 60% of the few customers she had in that 2 weeks tipped, there's a possibility that she will end up without anything extra for the pay period, which really sucks when you're earning $7.25/hr in corporate America.😵💫
As an American I hate the tipping system too. But each state has different sales tax and they change it however often they need to that's why they don't just include it in the price that you see. Because everybody essentially makes their own rules in each state. Some states don't even do sales tax.
tipping in the USA is 15% -18% , 18% - 20% is reserve for parties over 6. But I agree it is getting out of hand. Places are now asking for tips that are getting paid a standard amount and not a tipper's wage.
What if you had a 1991 Honda? 😂 Once I couldn't find it in the parking lot. I thought to myself "Who would want to steal this old car?" Turns out that it was on the other side 😅 I must of spend like 15min looking for it!😂 🤦
re the credit card thing: my brother is a data fraud analyst and used to work in credit card fraud - he said its mostly nothing illegal, but the few times they had a fraud case they’d get so fucking pumped in the office and start mapping things out like they’re the fucking feds lol. Keep in mind those cases are usually just like ‘we didn’t realise someone still had access to this account sorry can you refuse that transaction’ or stuff like ‘thought I was using the business account for this but it was my personal and now my bank thinks I’ve stolen my own credit card’
I'm American. I've never had anyone choose their own tip. Sometimes, a large party with a big bill, or a big bill with include an automatic gratuity. But, it's stated on the menu. If his card couldn't be charged multiple times, no one else's would either. Should've spoken to the manager about it.
14:19 sometimes the computer system automatically adds a top to the bill if you order food or if you bill adds up to a certain amount. I will always tip someone working in a service position because the company doesn't pay them enough to sustain themselves for 1 whole month
Tip culture is so interesting in the US. I am in a big city and have seen 1) my friends add a mandated tip to a party bc they had an accent and 2) complain because we passed a minimum wage rather than a tip and they think they will make less money. Can't have it both ways....and you have to trust the people that overtipped in the past will continue to do so.
11:27 In the US they ask for a tip for EVERYTHING 💀 It’s sad cause I know they ask for tips because they aren’t getting paid a lot, but there is no way I’m gonna tip someone like the cashier for just standing there & pressing buttons 😭
Loool mine is when someone says thank you and instead of me to say “you’re welcome” or any other conducive response, I accidentally say thank you back🤣
Tipping is pressured in America because employers make their employees rely on those tips. Most waiters even in high end restaurants are being paid minimum wage, sometimes even below it because in some states minimum wage is just a couple pieces of change. That’s why people say things like “if you’re not going to tip just stay home” because it’s honestly really messed up to go somewhere with a system like that and NOT tip. You can eat out obviously, but just keep in mind you’re basically paying for your server to get their check at the end of the week. You might as well go to a club instead…

The crazy part is, in America, the wage for waitresses and bartenders is normally between $2.22 + $3.33. Knowing this is what compels everyone to tip. If we don't tip, they don't make anything. It's just a setup all the way around the board. Dreadful
It's crazy though, because while this is true, they were specifically in LA - where waitstaff is paid AT LEAST state minimum wage ($16/hr)
I swear the cutest thing is when James covers his eyes with both hands when he laughs😭
One time I waved at someone from afar, we both smiled and shook our hands, turns out we had both confused each other for somebody else we hadn't seen in a while.
We explained ourselves laughed about it and moved on...
Phisically, cuz I still haven't mentally.
Your card declining is the worst thing. Especially when you got the money on it. Cashier trying not to laugh and you're like bitch I'm not broke try it again. That's y I always like having cash.
Then why does it decline?

Worst feeling 😂😂😂😂😂
@@evjimz8460 Thank you for the explanation, I appreciate it
That tip thing is a big city tourist thing. The only times I've had these issues have been when I go to bigger touristy cites in the US. My small southern town no tip issues. I do tip, but I won't do forced tips unless there's a large party( 8 or more people)

When you read in public and people notice you making facial expressions😫 I be sooo embarrassed.🤣
Love when he calls him “daddy” 😂
2:20 when James did that sigh, thinking about that Central Cee incident 😢😅😂
There was once a situation where I was paying with coins, like straight up cents and the cashier gave me the side eye👀
13:57 yeah tipping is crazy. Gratuity is included and then they ask for additional tip
When i realise I’m walking in the wrong direction I always fake a call and speak a bit loudly then turn around😂😂
Just some insight to our fkry over here 😊
For me it was when I went skiing for the first time and “watched” the lessons on the bunny hill instead of paying money. Figured I had caught on enough so I thought I would go down the slope. Couldn’t figure out for my life how to stop so I aimed for the trees, grabbed the nearest one at 30miles an hour and almost ripped my arm off, landed on my back with skis pointing straight up seeing stars. Took me forever to get down the hill. Sat in the bar the rest of the day.
James I need to keep the “blowing the nose” idea handy for my next double flush!!! Bahahahaha😂
I am in TEARS!!! That 2 flush story GOT me.
Telling American ppl to come together do get anything done, let alone taxes, is probably the most UK thing I’ve ever heard on this show 😂

We call it the complimentary flush. More people need to do it. Lol
We call it a courtesy flush LMAO

If you get caught talking to yourself, pick up your phone and act like you just ended a call! Works all the time 😂
As an American I hate the tipping system too. But each state has different sales tax and they change it however often they need to that's why they don't just include it in the price that you see. Because everybody essentially makes their own rules in each state. Some states don't even do sales tax.
When I talk to myself and someone sees me, I just act like I have a ear pod in and keep chatting 😂
Multiple flush is better than anyone in my office yelling "whose poop is this?"
tipping in the USA is 15% -18% , 18% - 20% is reserve for parties over 6. But I agree it is getting out of hand. Places are now asking for tips that are getting paid a standard amount and not a tipper's wage.
Damn in my country everybody tips 10%. Wowwww
@Bee West the USA minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. The tipped minimum wage is $2.13 per hour. ( Restaurants aren't full every night)
@Bee West What country are you in?
Thank you for the tip/tax conversation!!! Definitely needed! Hahah

re the credit card thing: my brother is a data fraud analyst and used to work in credit card fraud - he said its mostly nothing illegal, but the few times they had a fraud case they’d get so fucking pumped in the office and start mapping things out like they’re the fucking feds lol. Keep in mind those cases are usually just like ‘we didn’t realise someone still had access to this account sorry can you refuse that transaction’ or stuff like ‘thought I was using the business account for this but it was my personal and now my bank thinks I’ve stolen my own credit card’
"I have to break this shit down"😂😂😂

I'm American. I've never had anyone choose their own tip. Sometimes, a large party with a big bill, or a big bill with include an automatic gratuity. But, it's stated on the menu. If his card couldn't be charged multiple times, no one else's would either. Should've spoken to the manager about it.
Fuhad......James is your wifey!! This man is always in scenarios in his head with you😂😂😂😂😂😂
14:19 sometimes the computer system automatically adds a top to the bill if you order food or if you bill adds up to a certain amount.

11:27 In the US they ask for a tip for EVERYTHING 💀 It’s sad cause I know they ask for tips because they aren’t getting paid a lot, but there is no way I’m gonna tip someone like the cashier for just standing there & pressing buttons 😭
the double flush and tipping made me laugh way more than i should because i really understood.

15% is standard in US if it’s a to go order you don’t have to tip don’t let them make it feel obligated
Only James can get away with calling his bro daddy 🤣🤣🤣
Tipping is pressured in America because employers make their employees rely on those tips. Most waiters even in high end restaurants are being paid minimum wage, sometimes even below it because in some states minimum wage is just a couple pieces of change. That’s why people say things like “if you’re not going to tip just stay home” because it’s honestly really messed up to go somewhere with a system like that and NOT tip. You can eat out obviously, but just keep in mind you’re basically paying for your server to get their check at the end of the week. You might as well go to a club instead…
I never hit the play so fast in my life 😁
