Ryan, the best way to water your plants in such heat is to water them at darkness so that the roots can get sufficient water whilst the ground is at its coolish, also fill a spray bottle and fine spray the leaves which will stop burning, doing your watering this way can also save water 👍

I`m old enough to remember the Summer of 1976 in the UK. It was over 30 degrees Celsius every day for about 6 Weeks, if i remember rightly. Very abnormal for the UK. But these Days we`re lucky if we even get a Summer at all. Last year was a complete washout with low temperatures. The climate is definitely unpredictable if nothing else. Maybe next year Thailand could see the coldest Summer on record????? That`s how unpredictable it is. Who knows

Here in Chayaphum, it's been the hottest on record. Unbelievably the locals have been out in the fields getting ready for the planting season. How they do it I don't know. Today we had our first decent rain and a temperature drop. This year El Nino has made things worse but hopefully, things will now improve.

In Australia we're either in a drought , floods or perfect weather.
It's amazing how the plans and grass recover after you think there dead after a bit of rain.
If you have water for your plants.
Do it after the sun goes down.
Give your animals shade and water day time.

Ryan and Damo, please consider using aircrete blocks to build.
Even if you blow touch it, it won’t burn.
Ryan, I am sure you probably knew this.
It’s also light and fire resistant. So heat…no problem!

Hi Damo and Ryan, here in Khon Kaen we have had exactly the same problem. This year the heat has been relentless usually around 42 but the odd day it has reached 44! Everything in the garden and on our land is burned and parched despite watering daily. However, last night we had a tremendous hot wind for an hour which culminated in a wonderful thunderstorm for about 2 hours which has cooled the air a little with the temperature only hitting 38 today! The only trees which appear to still be coping are our mango trees which also provide some shade. Thanks for sharing as always and like you I am praying for rain. I guess that in a few months time we will have floods and be praying for the rain to stop. God bless you all including all the extended family who enjoy the air conditioning. 😀❤🙏

I just came back from south America. They have had drought for a while now. Everything was so dry. The creeks and streams. No grass to feed the animals. Thank God the rain is now falling a bit. But with that comes the mud and all the animals getting stuck. Living and caring for animals is just a delicate balancing act with nature. Fruits and veggies are so expensive. It good to see you guys taking measure to stay cool. God bless.

Heading home to Isaan end of June and yes much of our durian and banana took a beating this year as well. Similar conditions here in Nong Khai. My avocado trees suffer anything over 35 deg. Amazingly a few trees have managed to cling onto some fruit.
I expect that a cooling cycle starts next year. 23 & 24 have been quite an extreme peak.
I was in Cape Town 6 years ago. Extreme drought. Garden centers closed down. People took up their lawns and pulled the gardens out. Desalination plants constructed etc etc.
Since then the rain has been abundant. Aproaching the wet season now, dams are already high.
The stress at the time always makes one feel that this is forever.
I hope that we are in for a pleasant surprise.

A heatwave in one year is not an indication that this will happen every year.
I remember in Germany in the late 80's or early 90's it was in the high 30 degrees centigrade, and the tarmac on the roads literally melted and became almost like gravel roads.

I thought I was the only one doing the nightime thing, Sleeping in the aircon during the hottest part of the day, and working early morning, late evening in the garden, apparently not. We did loose 5 chickens during the early part of the heatwave, but the other 60 seem to be doing ok, but not a lot of eggs, we're lucky to get 40-50%. Bannana plants are taking a hit though, lost 9 out of 25. But it is what it is, plan this year to compensate for the next, If we're going to have 3 months of brutal heat, then that leaves 9 months for us to plant/grow/harvest, and store all our needs for that time.

  • @blizzunt420e

All of that could’ve been prevented by putting a thick layer of composted manure around the base of all your plants, and then heavily mulching them all with 3 to 6 inches of mulch.. The mulch keeps the moisture trapped by the roots, allowing your plants to thrive, even in conditions like you’re dealing with.

Cut swales throughout your land. They will retain water long after the rain stops. You should have at least a 2500 gallon tank receiving harvested rainwater. One cannot afford to run out of water especially in a hot country. Nature provides enough. Dig holes all around your land that retain water. Water follows water. You must master your environment- harvest that rainwater!

You could get a mini-split A/C unit for around 1500 USD for the main area in your house. They're efficient and you could get the kids out of your room. It's rough here in Florida also, in the summer. How's the renovation going on your new property

I would be careful about the tree in front of the house, we had 2 outside our house and the roots are close to the surface, they started to break up our floor so we had to cut them down.

I don’t see any mulch around the base of your plants. Of course they’re gonna die and shrivel up. You need to put a large amount of composted manure around the base of everyone of your plants and trees on your property and then you need to mulch all of them with a 4 to 6 inch depth mulch.. And again, if you can get some already composted, mulch mulch, that’s been around for a while and is already breaking down. That’s even better.

Thailand belongs to the tropical climate, so the climate is hot and humid all year round. April to June are the hottest months, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C. On the other hand, it is relatively cool from November to February, sometimes dropping below 10 degrees in the north. The way to avoid it is to maintain body temperature, take cool showers or use a damp cloth to wipe your face and body. Reduce strenuous exercise : Avoid engaging in heavy exercise or activities that require a lot of energy, as the hot weather may cause the body to struggle to dissipate heat and oxygenate properly, leading to fatigue. And frequently wear clothing that hangs slightly off your body. Woven fabrics or those with some texture, and a looser fit, usually do a good job. Clothing that does cling to your body will soak up sweat and then stay close to your skin, which will amplify the discomfort.

It's weird how climate change is affecting all of us in totally different ways. I get that 42 + degrees is not tolerable and is ruining the plants. Then I look at us in North West of England and we seem to have nowhere near the temperature increases that you have. Our weather is very wet, grey and cold, and definitely not getting hotter. We are at least 4 - 6 weeks behind the South of the country so our fruit and veg is a late up here. We have to adapt our lives according to the climate change, which is obviously easier said than done. I love the video content that you show us. 😁

    • @JamesScotmore
      @JamesScotmore 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Increased global average temperatures lead to higher percentages of water vapour. That's why the UK has had nonstop rain. But unfortunately it IS getting hotter. The previous record for the UK was broken in 2021 - 40.3C. This is just the beginning. Thailand will be 50C instead of 42C in the next 10-20 years as climate change becomes more rapid.
