We are traveling in China on a 6 week food adventure and street food tour through Sichuan, all in search of the best food and to uncover unseen food and unheard of dishes as well as chat with friendly locals.
On this first day of our tour, we travelled from Chengdu, Sichuan, by high speed train to Beijing, to the city of Neijiang and found a lot of street foods. When we arrived, we found ourselves in the old district looking for street foods and found an amazing street market with some hanging noodles, hanging the traditional way, and a lot of other Sichuan ingredients on the street. I asked a couple locals where to eat delicious Neijiang specialty beef noodle soup, and we were pointed to a shop around the corner that had some super spicy noodles made with red braised beef, a lot of chili oil, and a lot of herbs and spices.
If you’re visiting China as a tourist, you really must visit Sichuan and explore the markets and back streets! There really is too much food to try for one lifetime. If you come to a market or back street are with a bit of small cash and an open heart to chat (if you speak a little mandarin!) with local people, you will have a good time, that’s the true China experience. Most people are really friendly!
Chinese cuisine is so diverse and there is so many street foods to try, and I consider myself lucky to live in Chengdu, Sichuan, eating Sichuan food and tasting new street foods al the time. Ting and I get to taste a lot of different Chinese foods whenever we want, and it’s awesome!! I

We’re off on our Sichuan street food journey! This is our first day of travel and the Sichuan food we experienced along the way. We met so many amazing people, and tried some delicious food! I would love to know what you thought of this video down below, so please leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you. We are venturing on a Sichuan food journey and eventually making our way South to Yunnan province and following the ancient tea horse road, also known as the Southern Silk Road! So far, it’s been amazing! Thanks a lot for watching and I hope you’re doing well, and eating well!
What is your Favorite food from India?
ooh man, too tough!!
You must try snake recipes in china... I already tried it
The Food Ranger👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😅
you are one of the coolest guy ever
Thanks Trevor, for not only showing us unique delicious food but also showing us how a little appreciation can make the people happy and proud about their work.
Jo King I
That's true. When you see him talking to the people on the street, the Media stereotype about China fades instantly. What a beautiful people, friendly, hard workers, respectful, and so on. I think my next trip is going to be China, specially those non-city places where these people live in.
You can refer to exactly what Americans are like by the Chinese people's impression. The governments and media of both sides are doing the same thing.
The secret ingredient in their unique delicious food is Chinese gutter oil. Feel free to youtube what that is!
That rice ball machine is genius, that dough is sticky and hard to handle, and here he doesn't have to touch it at all. That looks really good.
The dinner with kitchen view and chef comments is beyond anything. Great! The Tofu Beef dish, never seen before! Yeah, more chef interviews!!! This would be a help to anyone who is actually interested in cooking, right? It looks like the "small town" food isn't bad at all. The "spicy" rating makes sense too, when every dish is more or less red. So, thumbs up for chef comments, old people on the street comments!
He even uses speaker for ad thus saving his 吆喝 energy。
This has to be one of your best videos to date. Super genuine with great conversations and explanations as to what was going on at each place. Makes me want to jump on a plane and visit China just for the food. Keep up the great vids!!
Wow that's so nice to hear buddy!! Thanks so much!!
The street food bowls in china looks like a 5 star restaurant in my town..
Where is your town?
That’s sad
It is like that tough. It's hard to find a good pho (Vietnamese soup noodle) in my city. But if you go to Vietnam, even $1 sitting by the roadside is delicious. In my city, $6 pho in a mall is so so.
Your interest and interaction with the people is so awesome. Doing so lets people know their work is being appreciated is what separates your videos from most
Traver's daily meals: Pre breakfast appetizer , informal breakfast, formal breakfast, brunch, prelunch, lunch, afternoon tea and treats, informal dinner, dinner, night owl meal ... 😂😂😂 太好了!太好吃了!
loLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Hope I could live like Trevor
This is what I did when I was visiting Paris haha
你会中文
But why he didn't get fat . I think he walks a lot
To be fair, you are usually walking long distances with bags on your back all day when you are travelling like this, so you end up burning a lot of the calories. I ate like 5 meals a day when I was back packing in Japan but ended up losing weight (in a good way) during my trip lol
I've had that 1000 chilli chicken before. Mouth numbing from all the Sichuan peppercorns. I couldn't bear eating much of it. You've got tougher taste buds than me! We so enjoy watching all the great food you try. Love from Canada! 🇨🇦
So glad to know that buddy, glad you're loving the videos!
The reason we love your videos is you mingle very well with localars
Vendor: I've seen you before, I watch your show

Trevor truly makes these locals and food stall owners feel incredibly proud and happy about making their food. With every reaction Trevor has, no matter how little earnings these people make - at that moment they feel a little more confident to keep going. Good job with the videos man, love it!
+Jenny D Thank you Jenny! That is so nice to hear!
Everytime Trevor eats and i try to 'mmmmmmmmmmmmm' with him and when the timing matches it makes me happy 💙
Saurang Roy hahaha

One of the aspects I enjoy most about your videos is how kind you are to all the locals, it goes a long way and I appreciate the efforts you take.
Dan Dan noodles are on my food bucket list.. I've been watching you eat them for so long and I really want to try some! Maybe I'll learn to make some
Yummy. What a dream job. China seems very interesting. I like to hear u speak Chinese

OMG! I came from Sichuan, Chengdu and I’ve been studying in Boston, MA for almost one year! Every time I watched your video, it made me mouth watering and soo... hungry. Anyway, I am so happy that I will go back in three weeks! A lot of delicious food there waiting for me!
This video is "MMMMHHH" 9.8 delicious

How spicy was it?
I like how you go to China a lot. I'm Chinese and I love Chinese food. Even my whole family watches you. Keep up the good work!
It's impossible to watch any video with Trevor without a beaming smile across your face, one of my favourite channels on TH-cam.
I am watching this while eating home made chinese food :D
Miss Beauty Lucky you lol
Hey Trevor! So glad to see you are on the brink of 1M subs! I seen your channel at around 35k subs and to see this months later is amazing! goes to show you are an amazing content creator and are actually very pleasant to watch.
Keep it up mate! Love from Australia
Awesome thanks so much buddy! It's been fun watching it grow, I can't believe it!
For me,the most flavourful dishes in the world is Arab,Chinese and also indian. Their food are full of flavour.
I love this series, Trevor. Urban food markets are fun but the rural areas are an important part of tradition and culture, which I’m glad you bring us.
I lived in Denver for about eight months and ate three times a week at a little Sichuan place. I've missed the food so much I've been teaching myself to make the oil, braised beef, and everything else 😁 I even make my own noodles now. Your videos really helped inspire me.
Awesome new video. My Saturday family ritual, watching the Food Ranger!
Nice!!!
Morocco should be next on your list, the food within that country is so unique and diverse!
Mandarin is getting excellent every time u upload a new video keep it up
太好了😂😂😂

Geo 🤔 y so hateful to someone u don’t know am sure the same words u use u are exactly like it
This channel is so much fun! Thank you so much for taking us with you on your travels. The food in China looks AMAZING!!
Loved it!!! Yes, love the behind the scenes in the kitchen for sure and love that you constantly are talking the different lauguages in your videos to the people you encounter.
Perfect timing, love your videos trevor!
Awesome buddy, so glad to hear that!
LOVE watching the chefs cook! More please!
I really loved the "on-the-go food vendors" cover!!! Its amazing, connects you to the roots.. it was really an authentic taste of Sichuan!!! Am already in love with the food/culture of China.. Would like to see more treasures of deep alleys in Sichuan.
I really appreciate your approach to these food and travel videos. It has a sense of genuine exploration, and I really enjoy you actually showing your conversations with the people as much as you show the food itself.
Advance Congratulations on 1m u deserve more and make more foodie vids !peace!
+Ramaswamy S thanks buddy!
As much as you travel who knows what your hands touch. Please be a bit courteous to the vendor by not touching their food with your bare hands -- like the hanging noodles. They only allow you to do it because you are a foreigner.
It is rude too.
I was thinking the same thing. How gross and disrespectful
i mean, its china, they dont care. lol
@@ShinzuXTruth who says they don't care
@@ShinzuXTruth even if they don't care,he shouldn't really touch it
It seems like my stomach always rumbles when I watch your videos, even if I fed it.
Great video as always. Tai hao la!
I am so bad at handling spicy food but the foods from Sichuan are my absolute favorites of the different regions of China. The spices give all the foods such incredible depth of flavor - I feel lucky that I live somewhere that has a couple authentic Sichuan places to eat at, because people really are missing out not having access to authentic dishes like these.
I'm from Neijiang and live in Toronto, thanks for sharing our noodles with rest of the world! Amazing videos!
Everything looks so mouth watering delicious.
Eating my baloney sandwich, watching your video. Thank you for another out of body experience.
I had to subscribe! Love the variety of realistic personalities and authentic food you find.
MmMmmM, soo good 😋
haha
This is type of stuff I love to see from you! So many places in China to discover and you're at an advantage compared to other channels. Show us more from China!
Wow... this is one of the best video's on youtube. Really entertaining, and the food looks delicious!
Dandan noodles nice!
I don't know a word of Chinese but people seem to get pleasantly surprised when Trevor speaks it!!! I would too if he spoke clear Urdu :D
He actually has been learning Mandarin for years
you are one of the coolest guy ever
Thanks a lot buddy! haha :)
That rice ball guy seemed so genuinely nice and interested in what you had to say, it was very heartwarming :)
Yes, please continue to try to get back into the kitchens and talk to the chefs and do the same with the street vendors. It's so nice when you engage them. You can tell that your ability to speak Mandarin really opens people up and you can see how kind and generous many of them are. I like that you are not only interested in the food but the people who make the food.
All the way from Kenya big up bro!!!
Finaly best chinese food!
Awesome!!!
when that guy recognized trevor, it was really weird that trevor didnt acknowledge that.. i just hope he didnt hear him because that was pretty rude.
he simply didnt understand what he was saying. It was sichuan accent sometimes i dont even understand and i'm chinese.
I know, he does that every time someone recognizes him from TH-cam. he like completely shuts them down.
@@yamiletcruz113 wow really wonder why
Trevor, I like the new format with more dialog with the chefs and watching them is fantastic. Keep up the great work.
I miss China. The food, the people, the clubs. Good times. Good times! Gotta go back next year. China hope you're waiting for me!
Hello! From new york. Im watching eating a traditional ceviche dish. Love ya!
Hi Jonathan, nice!!! Hope you enjoy!
that frying the dough, she should be the lead in Marvel Iron Fist
Trevor, how'd you become so fluent in Mandarin? Pretty cool dude!
Awesome vid, Trevor! Always love watching you explore new dishes. I think a lot of business owners are not comfortable disclosing the spices and recipes for fear of giving away secrets to competitions. Some people might consider it rude to ask (similar to asking how much money one makes in the west).
I love when he interacts with vendors and stuff while he eats. Even though at times it can get awkward because of the language difference, it’s still really endearing. People the same everywhere!
OMG.... is your goal to touch EVERY single noodle the dude has for sale?
Omg I was thinking that same thing!
Trevor is the only TH-camr who actually replies to comments
Hey buddy! :)
The Sichuan market looks so clean
Every Chinese market is clean. Dont confuse China with india.
Just imagined how hard you made this video. Making subtitles for both English and Chinese languages for every conversation. Keep it up.
I have been following you for about a year or so, and love watching your videos, your zest for food and for the people that put so much hard work into the food they prepare. Thank you so much for sharing all these flavours from China! May you have every success in all your future endeavors!
I love the new Spice Level rating. Also, more Ting! ;)
Thanks so much Kato!!
Hey Trevor is too close to get 1 million subscribers waiting
Good video trevor
Thanks so much!!
You should have a show on a tv channel like really. You have this form of enthusiasm that makes the viewer feel as if we are there. Not many food travelers can do that.
Yes! It is so incredible to see the cooking methods and unique ingredients that they use. It is also especially helpful that you list the prices. Thank you for sharing!
This video has enough oil to lubricate my car.
Fruit F*cker haha, Sichuan people more love oil than other states in China.
Still less fat than McDonald's
You can lubricate his gf too.
Fruit F*cker his eyes look like he lubricated his appetite prior to the video.
actually gutter oil is very poor lubricant.
Ho~ you are good at Chinese language.
You should visit Guizhou. It's street food heaven!
Awesome videos Trevor! Im currently learning chinese so I not only have a lot of fun watching your videos but I can also practice what I learn in class. Thank you very much for taking the time to subtitle your videos in chinese, most of the time I just dont understand what chinese people are saying as they speak SO FAST, lol.
I love the Chinese people. There food is so delicious. And there such good people..I love there culture.. your show is amazing I really enjoyed it thank you for all to hard work

good, but you should come in Bangladesh...😄😊😊😊
Hey serious question though Trevor! Have you experienced any headaches or initial sickness from eating a lot of MSG?
Nope :) All good
The Food Ranger what's up with all the stipulation behind it though? I don't understand
joshua williams while most people don't have a problem with msg, there are some people who are "allergic" to it, i believe. I think there's a scishow episode on this topic if you want to find out more about that.
my theory is "Chinese takeaway" was becoming a big thing in america, and to try to slow it down, they put out crappy fake reports of it causing cancer which had a very bias approach and pretty much had an agenda behind it. Kind of like the sugar industry blaming fats on the cause of high cholesterol etc.
joshua williams - for some people MSG can cause migraines and in others it causes diarrhea. They called it 'Chinese food syndrome' in the US for years because many Chinese places use MSG, so if you eat a lot of MSG you can feel pretty bad afterwards. It's just like salt, sugar, and other flavourings - they all can effect people differently. I think MSG got a bad reputation in the 70s and 80s. I've never had a problem with it - but if you know your body doesn't react well to it, you need to be careful eating it.
My wife and I are huge fans of yours! I'm an American and I don't normally like Chinese food, but the food in your videos have
made me try to branch out and I've had some delicious dishes, but I'm still extremely picky. My wife is from Shanghai and It started off as a joke screaming "MMMMM!!!!! Tai hao le!!!!" ...now I can't stop! I wish they had Bao zi where we live, each time I watch a video of you eating that crunchy, flaky goodness it makes me drool....It would be amazing if you could do a tour in America of Chinese chefs/Asian chefs *in America* and see if they have any interesting twists on their take of the traditional. I know the food prices sky rockets here :(.
We would LOVE to see more videos of you in the kitchens, we love seeing the love the chef has and seeing the beautiful food being made...the wok work always amazes me! As someone stated in the comments; you always show so much respect and love for the chefs/food...I don't like to smile, but seeing your interactions really causes me joy.
May I recommend something?
For each video you should showcase a word/phrase at the beginning and end for viewers to learn, maybe try to use it as much as possible in a video. I love listening to your Chinese. Your wife is beautiful and has an amazing smile, maybe she can do this "portion" *pun not intended!* but it's really great hearing your Chinese over and over in a video.
We look forward to more videos!
Tai hao le!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes Trevor, I would love to see the kitchen scenes on how these dishes are made. thanks again to you and Ting for your travels through China for great cuisines. Safe travels you two.
