So Macy didn't look to keen at the start, but it was great to see her excitement gather through out the project. Great work DP! Maximum dad points!

She might be afraid of the noise and sparks from the high speed metal tools. No problems with the drill press, maybe because it’s quieter and doesn’t look like it will jump out at you. Good for her she got into it. Gunner looks like he can have fun doing anything! I agree, A+ on the parenting!

Sadly not enough people know how to teach things like that to their kids these days ☹ not saying everyone needs to be an expert on such things or do them for a living but a general understanding would be a step up these days.

The best way to teach is by participation, the kids will never forget the experience they just had with Dad. Now that young lady can truly enjoy “HER” bathroom because Dad and Brother helped “Her” with it. Enjoyed watching the process.👍

It’s good that you show both your son and your daughter the skills that you know. My dad taught me the same things he taught my brothers. He felt it important that his daughter knew how to change the oil in her truck, rotate the tires, and knew how to handle all of his tools! This well rounded knowledge helped me to become one of the first female Houston firefighters!

    • @shitloveaduck
      @shitloveaduck 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Very well done!! Now you are a fire fighter! No need to be a “female”. Firefighter. (Hopefully for your sake. Men can be jerks.)
I was a LEO for 30 years. Once I could convince my male counterparts to recognize our “female” LEOs as simply LEOs, and vice versa, a lot of the petty issues disappeared!! We were able to better do our jobs and help the public without some needless distractions.
It’s a great thing your father didn’t differentiate. You were able to become who you wanted to be and not what others expected you to be!!
I hope it’s a long AND SAFE career for yourself!!

      @@shitloveaduck .
      Well Saud.
We had the same issue in the Coast Guard with female aircraft mechanics in the 70's that got seriously resolved when a new Female Aviation Engineering Warrent Officer showed up and got an airfull about from AD2 Andria about the issue.
She immediately called an all hanger deck hands all Aviation rates inspection where she made it abundantly clear so would absolutely not allow such male behavior to continue on penalty of Courts Martial charges getting involved if the issue was reported.
Of course I was raised by a Mom who taught her 3 boys better than most of the males I knew in they Coast Guard.
Here number one Golden Rule was actually Biblical.
Don't expect courtesy or respect if you don't show it yourself.
Including towards females and those of a different race and faith.
One of my older two brothers learned that lesson the hard way.
One of the very few times I saw my Mom actually spank one of us.
He never made that mistake again.

WHAT can I say, Mike. For as long as I've watched your channel, this is one I'll remember for the duration. Involving your kids in this project, teaching and mentoring them.... Some of the fondest memories I have of my Dad are the things he and I did together. When Gunner and Macy are my age and you and Jenna are but a dear memory to them, they will remember this day, a tear will fall from their eye and they'll say..., "I was the luckiest kid on the planet. My folks were... All Right!"

An example of patients with being a parent to the children... Teaching HOW to read a tape is a good idea as well as learning how to tell time with a clock that has arms. Those are things that used to be taught in school back when I went to school in the 1940's. Excellent job with the curtain hanging job on the shower curtain project.

A wonderful video Mike. Your investment in time and material into Macy and her daily personal environment, will have a profound affect on your relationship going forward with your Daughter. Macy now has the chance to understand what you as her Dad actually does when you're out in the shop building things. Prior to this you were just gone doing Dad stuff, now she knows you're out in the shop building valuable things because now she has first hand knowledge of what you're doing. The greatest gift my Father ever gave me was a guided tour of the shipyard and how to operate all the tools safely so he could let me go out and use chop saws and band saws and work on whatever project I wanted to try. I'm 71 years old and like my Dad and his Dad, none of us have lost a finger or been injured by our tools. Good on ya Mike!

A little dirt in my coffee this morning...
Good job dad, the smiles on your daughter at the end... Priceless!!
    😎👍
Edit to add... and I hope you see this...
    2 words... hearing protection...
I'll have to admit l never took hearing protection seriously and wished l had...
Now at 66 years old and years of cutting and grinding metal, and working in noisy work environments without using wearing hearing protection I have damaged my hearing permanently..
I have thought of pointing this out several times on your other build videos, but was finally compelled to do so when it came to your children...
The constant ringing in my ears is not anything l would wish on anyone, and something l have to deal with on a daily basis, it is extremely frustrating at times to not be able to carry on a conversation with someone without having to have themselves repeated themselves constantly.
I hope you read this and realize protecting your hearing is just as important as protecting your eyes...
Sorry for the long rant... 😎👌

Great teaching moment and great memories made! Every time they use the shower they will know they made it possible (with your help of course).
