- The Sounds of the Yorkshire Dales Model Railway - Volume 1
I’m often asked where I get the sound files from for my videos and the vast majority are audio from clips that I’ve recorded at heritage railways. I thought it publish these to make them available for anyone who is interested to use.
Volume 1 features clips mainly from the East Lancashire Railway in late 2023 and 2024.
The easiest way to extract the audio from this video on a smart phone would be to screen record the clips you wish to use.
As always, thanks for watching.

As always, thanks for watching.
It’s wonderful to see some of our greatest locomotives hauling passenger trains along the North Yorkshire Moors Railway!!
Glad you liked it 😀
There was nothing at the North Yorkshire moors railway
One of these years I’ll turn up at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and see it for myself, but it looks so wonderful that I can hardly resist it!!
You should do! 😀
Always enjoy seeing locomotives I saw in my youth, watching Britannia steam through Stratford on its way to Norwich or Liverpool Street, days never forgotten. Many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Thank you, thank you, thank you. As someone living in Southern Ontario, there was no way I could record these sounds myself. Brilliant.
Glad you found them useful!
Very kind, generous and thoughtful of you. Thank you
Glad you found them useful 👍🏻
Great video, you certainly got a variety of sounds.
Thanks 👍🏻
Mate. Thats brilliant. I found the bbc sound archive was pretty good free source but you creating and sharing is pretty incredible. Hats off to you and everything you do
Thanks! Ah cool I’ll look into that!
@@MouldyRaspberry can I ask what app are you using to extract the sound from your recordings Lewis ?
The raspberry has blessed us with another great video keep up the great work👍
Thank you 😀
Very nice of you to release these sound clips to the masses. Some great footage too.
Cheers!
Thanks!
If only my expensive DCC Sound Decoders sounded as good as this. Thank you.
Hopefully one day they will!
A great video. I really enjoyed watching it. Thanks
Thanks, glad you liked it
What a great video Lewis ,very enjoyable .,fine British engineering .😊
Thanks 👍🏻
Oh this is so kind of you, very helpful :) top man
Glad you like them 👍🏻
Glorious❤
Thanks 👍🏻
I am usually there at the galas Mr mouldy, Great railway. 😊
I’ll have to keep an eye out for you John!
@@MouldyRaspberry I will buy you a pie.
Glorious Black Five!! One of the best locomotives ever made.
Agreed!
Piękna sprawa. Wspaniały film. Niesamowite. 👍
Serdeczne Dzięki 🤗 (h).
Thanks for sharing this wonderful material! Indeed, added sound files are much better than DCC sound from a small loudspeaker in the locomotive. The added sound is much better in giving a good impression of the real train. Moreover, in DCC the sound of the coaches and wagons is usually missing.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Lovely video of livesteam, just a bit crappy weather for the recording purposes. Great seeing the Mallard helping with tractive effort😅
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
¡Hola buenas tardes Lewis! Aside from the appalling English Summer weather, a great set of captures. I’m guessing at time stamp (17:25) you were gutted not to have captured that wonderful coupling moment! However, as more than one follower has mentioned, we will no doubt be treated to some future running videos with new sound files attached! As ever, keep safe and well. Un saludo. Gary
Thanks Gary! Appreciate it 😀
Your filming skills translate nicely to full size railways, Lewis. I recognize some of the audio from the Yorkshire Dales, too!
Thanks 😀
Great video
Thanks!
Betton Grange is on the run with Foxcote Manor's tender, if you'd like to try visiting the WSR.
Thanks for that, confirms my thoughts seeing it on video on TH-cam else where. 👍👍👍👍
Would like to see it soon!
I often wondered where you recorded your sounds for dubbing Lewis and now I know...😂
Cheers,
Michael.
Thanks Michael 👍🏻
This is such a great idea! Do You use Your own sound files in Your videos? No wonder that they are so authentic ;o) And I won‘t forget to pay my deepest respect to all the people preserving this wonderful railway! And the Sir Nigel Gresley, my most favorite British Loco, had an appearance too! Thank You for sharing Your videos, it‘s always a pleasure to watch them!
Thanks very much 👍🏻 Yes I have these organised into folders then just pick the sound I need for each video from those 👍🏻
Great video as well as sound. Getting audio of steam trains at speed is not as easy. They still run on jointed track along the Cumbrian coast line how long before they relay that with long welded.
Thank you 👍🏻
👍👍👍❤🤍💚 Tom from Hungary.
Thank you 👍🏻
I have a sneaking suspicion some of this soundtrack may be recycled in future episodes!!! ;-)
Quite possibly 🤣
Mr Mouldy, will we be meeting at TMC in August? 😉
Ah no, im away in August but it sounds fun!
Was this your layout or was it the real thing, just cannot tell the difference, Ha-Ha.Lovely running session, "Nene Valley Railway" ? regards, Colin.
Ha thanks Colin. Yes ive got quite a few recordings from the NVR, I think they’ll be in the next video.
Look forward to seeing more footage those Locomotives sure look in good condition.
🚂Not🚃just🚃for🚃the🚃sound,🚃the🚃images🚃are🚃also🚃worthwhile🚃💨
Thanks 😀
Why don’t you sell these? You’ve invested your own time and money into making them and your really good model railway videos are already free at point of consumption. Presumably donation was made to the Heritage Railways when originally recorded.
First
Well done
