My sister and I would play this instead of chores all summer and whenever he said that, we'd always scream "no!" because we didn't want to get caught skipping chores 😂
I found this game many years ago not long after my mom moved back from out of state, it was the start of me getting to be with her again (divorced parents). One of my favorite memories was super young me laying in her lap, playing SSX Tricky, and eating some frozen yogurt cup in the cheap barely held together apartment. It doesnt seem much, but SSX Tricky will always be a memory for me

When I was younger I sold all my ps2 games because we were falling on hard times and I wanted to help. Ever since then I've been gradually rebuilding the collection with the original games that I had in it too. And SSX Tricky was the last one I needed and it arrived in an eBay bundle last week. Such great memories with this game
I LOVED this soundtrack and really appreciated being a kid and getting to see the little voice actors interviews you get to unlock. It was one of the first times I had seen into a game development process as a kid and it blew me away
The voice actors involved was PURE 2000 nostalgia! David Arquette, Lucy Liu, Patricia Valenquez (probably misspelled that so "Anuk Su Namun" from The Mummy movies), Macy Gray, Oliver Platt. Crazy lineup!!
Man, I forgot just how expertly crafted the levels in Tricky were, both in appearance and function. I played more of SSX3 when that came out, but I can see why Tricky is still considered the apex of the series.
A cool thing about the main theme is that one that plays when you get TRICKY is perfectly synced with every stage's track. You can get it at any point and it never misses a beat, only adding to it.
My brother and I used to play this game all the freaking time. Loved the rivalry system, we used to make as many enemies as possible to turn races into a brawlfest 🤣 Great vid!
I LOVED this game. I'm one of those that believes this is the best snowboarding game because it's gameplay is so great level design is amazing and the music and feel of this game is unbeatable. Thanks Gerard! You've inspired me to either find my old copy or buy a new one and 100% this game again. My dad passed recently and when I played this it was in his house when I was a teenager. I would love to relive those memories.
It's vastly better for you to go BACK to coffee instead of drinking a tub of artificial sweeteners and caffeine. Don't "cut out coffee" just to replace it with something far far worse.
Bif Naked, too. The game has such a great cast. Like you, I wish Jirard had mentioned this in the video... he lists just two actors in the video description, but that's not quite enough. I recall their inclusion in the game was a pretty big deal for the time, and I'm sure it was a big factor in Jirard's enjoyment of the rivalry and cutscenes.
I don't think I have ever given props to your thumbnails. The artist behind the scene really puts in amazing work. My friends always swore by this game. I was always really really bad at it haha I was more of a Jet Set Radio guy.
People might be all over the main theme song (I mean, it is catchy), but I personally found Untracked to have a completely out-of-place and beautiful song that completely reflects the beauty of the track. I remember being in complete awe of it as a 7-year-old, and it was one of my first exposures to how beautiful videogame music can be. A shame that its so underrated. Great video as always, Jirard ^^
I hope he does something BIG though I personally want him to complete Dark Souls for New Game + right before or after the 400th as that game needs a NG+ and it was a special episode originally (maybe a two parter with DS and something else like the original DS episode for 100,000 subs)
oof, that's a tough one, i still hope he'll complete World of Warcraft some day, i mean he wont have to collect every achievement and item, but if he did the time would be now, when the level cap is easy as sin and quick to hit.
I love your video, Jirard! The SSX series was my childhood! If I had to nitpick (nothing serious, no worries!), (1) the footage of the freestyle and BX boards as you explained the board types were swapped, and (2) Tricky included special features known as "DVD Content" that gave players an inside look at every aspect of the game's development, as well as interviews of the voice cast.
I was hoping that this video was in the works! So happy to see it come to fruition! I was raised on Tricky, playing multiplayer with my brother mostly, so it means a whole lot to see this!
Never thought I'd see this masterpiece of game get completed. Would LOVE to see you complete SSX 3 one day, especially since there's just so much to collect, see, and do in that game. Thanks for the content, always enjoy a Completionist video!
You know I have not played this game in probably over a decade. I loved this game so much. I am pretty sure I've unlocked everything back in the day. I usually replay or revisit most of my games from time to time but this is one I have not touched for a long time. And I believe it deserves a revisit. Thank you for reminding me that this game exist. Luckily for me I keep almost all of my games so it's just a matter of putting the disc into the GameCube. I am sure there are lots of viewers who like me want to revisit this game after watching your video but unfortunately for them they don't have a copy of the game laying around.
