What about horse archers, did you test anything from LA Tien Ch'i? (they have both a secred and a normal horse archer variety and they could be used as fire + keep distance instead of normal fire, i guess)

No, unfortunately, I can't. If they cast a battlefield wide spell and then retreat, you lose the effect of that spell :(
