Green Day music can be adapted in so many ways - it's what makes it (them) quiet geniuses. Been bugging the high school band director to plan a GD show for marching band for years. They're spectacular every year and did Imagine Dragons & Fall Out Boy. They could kill a GD set. They now have a killer bassist whose band of 14-15 year Olds is crushing BotB shows. So bring it!
Kudos to all involved extremely talented. However, the original worked so well because it captured teenage angst of the 90’s punk/rock scene. Which this doesn’t do. I’m definitely going to check out her other songs, because she has a terrific voice.

You're right, but this is a cover. I actually think she's modernised the sentiment perfectly. Mental health is no longer such a big unknown and scary taboo like it was in the nineties and it hardly makes anyone weird or an outsider anymore. The updated tone/melody sounds more accepting of the themes mentioned in the lyrics, much like the lyrics are way less shocking and anti-culture as they were in the 90s. All this to say, just enjoy the tunes mate.
