At first you might think a 50s housewife singing about being stoned is anachronistic, but then you read about what kind of meds they gave housewives in the 50s and it's absolutely accurate.
I went to high school with Tatum. Such a talented, funny, and sweet person. So shocked to see her on PMJ! Glad she’s getting so much recognition and I wish nothing but more success for her ❤!
Just saw her perform last night and she was incredible! Even more stunning and fun in person and she was so sweet after the show🥰 #postmodernjukeboxtour
Great Voice! Spot-on the whole way through. My favorite part about PMJ other than fun creative interpretations of popular music, is that they showcase talented people who can actually Sing Really Well and Play Real Instruments.
A lot of older Green Day songs are simple but have amazing fundamentals that make them fantastic for covers. A ridiculous amount of them have crazy cover potential
@@Arcadia6227 Yep, most of their songs are so well structured and well crafted. This also shows the stupidity of that Ed Sheeran copywrtie lawsuit. The structure, chord progressions, tempo, and rhythm of most new songs already exist. I hope the cover more Green Day! A jazz noir version of Wake Me Up When September Ends?
For some reason I feel like most people feel this style lends credence to the lyrics, and they would rate the lyrics as better or more sophisticated just because of the style.
OMG! Get over your obsession with just searching for any and every opportunity to proclaim, as if you are the one and only expert arbiter of what is perfectly characterized as a punk genre song, that Green Day is purely a "pop" band! Get a life as nobody in 2023 cares how they, and especially you feel about them! @@jackchandelier
Tatum is currently performing this one on our Summer Tour - did any of you get to hear this one live before the video came out?? P.s. we have a brand new album out today!
We heard this one just a few days ago in Victoria, BC! After a couple of Tatum’s numbers, my wife leaned over to me and said, “I think I have a new favourite.” And I think I agree! 😊 (Of course, I have something like 6 or 7 favourites. 😄)
When she sings "Sometimes I give myself the creeps... sometimes I give myself the creeps, oh yes, I do, I really do" @2:27, I actually do believe her. What a wonderful performance!
LOVE this!! I’m on tour with Tatum right now, and not only is she insanely talented, she’s also a truly wonderful person 🥰🙌🏼 Wishing her all the success in the world!! 💫🎙️🎶🙌🏼
On tour with PMJ right now, and I’m absolutely loving hearing Tatum sing this every night from back stage!! ❤️⭐️ So much character and such a beautiful and talented soul!!!
The vocal performance is epic but it was the delivery of the lyrics that really put it over the top. delivering dirty lyrics with a smile on her face .
So much fun! We saw their show this past Wednesday (la Rambleta in Valencia, Spain), and Tatum did this song near the beginning of the show. She gives off so much positive, fun energy (even if she didn't play her "trumpet"). Well done!
I like the Green Day song, but I just LOVE this version. It's so effervescent and bubbly and bright and lemony in its appeal. It's so fresh and enchanting. Tatum Langley is absolutely gorgeous and she should be front and center for all of your major engagements. She's a natural showstopper! So talented and stylish!
@@tatum_langley You won me over when you started doing the vocal trumpet. That's one of my favorite "instruments" and it takes a crazy amount of talent to do it and it's so rare to see it any more outside of old-timey jazz clubs. You're like a unicorn dipped in liquid awesome and sprinkled with starshine. Please keep up the good work!
Amazing performance, perfectly on brand for the late '50s and wonderfully playful. The reference to Mrs Maisel certainly fits the disparity between the upbeat tune and the lyrics. Love it!
Wow!!! The original was highly influential to little 10 year old me back when it came out. I was also a tap dancer back then so this right here is giving me such good vibes, I love it so much! Fantastic cover!!!
Got the chance to meet Tatum at the PMJ Tour concert two days ago. She was truly delightful. This is her first tour with PMJ and I hope there will be many more. Armed with a truly world class voice, she embodies the joy of music as well as anyone I have ever seen. You go girl. #pmjtour
Tatum sang with my Ball State Jazz ensemble for 2 years. She was a Theatre and Dance major while she was in school. She is super talented AND one of the most down to earth people you will ever meet! GO TATUM!
I didn't think anybody would top my love for PMJ covers after Haley Reinhart did Creep and Black Hole son, but Tatum's done it. This was just so HAPPY!
This feels like it could fit in a period dystopia work, like the game "We Happy Few" (if the time period were right), or the 50's episode of WandaVision to indicate everything looking happy and bubbly on the outside--but *just* under the surface ... Bravo.
Saw Tatum last night in a PMJ performance in Des Plaines, Ill. She was great in what was her PMJ debut. Enjoyed the show which had been somewhat retooled from others we've attended. Fun night out!
let's agree to meet back here tomorrow if this version is still stuck in your head ⬇
Прекрасный образчик Олд скула. Спасибо за работу!
I'm back!
Will you guise please do "new noise" by Refused?
Yup!
Magic.
0:41 that trumpet sells the whole show.
I loved the trumpet at 2:14
Me too.
Thanks!

i did not expect green day to translate to a vintage style so effectively! great cover!!

Why not?
Any remotely mainstream compatible music should work.
Pretty much anything can be translated especially pop
It's one of the 4 chord songs ,so fits into many different songs as a result
Wow, Tatum very quickly became one of my favorite PMJ singers
This channel proves good lyrics are good lyrics, no matter what style you use to sing them.
For some reason I feel like most people feel this style lends credence to the lyrics, and they would rate the lyrics as better or more sophisticated just because of the style.
I love how expressive Tatum is while singing! She really gives the whole thing such a good energy!
I'm a huge fan of punk rock and old timey music. So seeing one of my favorite band's songs in this style makes me so happy
What punk rock is involved here? Green Day is pop.

Props to the band! She really is amazing, but the band is over the top!
Saw the video a week before the Des Plaines show! Loved the show!!!
This is a piece of wholesome I'll take a copy for my future self.
The lyrics are clear now! 🤣 Great voice and excellent presentation!
Never really paid attention to the lyrics. But now that I can hear them, the song takes on a whole new meaning. 😱

This singer totally brings an Annie Ross' Twisted feel to lyrics. Wonderful! And the pianists quote of the Twisted ending seals the deal.

Props for the mouth trumpet
How you managed to make that feel jaunty is amazing. Also, that mouth trumpet by Tatum - amazing!
ahhh! hello PMJ fam! this video was a dream come true! thank you for everything! (and come out & see us on the road 😉🫶🏼)
