We like to deliberately put mistakes into these videos like "astrology/ASTRONOMY"... which compels people to comment on the video, which TH-cam then sees as ENGAGEMENT with the audience which then helps drive up views! ....or....it was just an honest mistake ;)

+MetalJesusRocks I was gonna say... My immediate reaction was something like, "Ehh, those things don't go together..."
Gives me an idea for a story about astronauts in an astrologically operative universe, though.

Yeah, it was quite jarring to hear. I haven't heard anyone make that mistake since elementary school. Undoubtedly, no true lover of scientific thinking would conflate pseudoscience with an actual branch of science. I love what these guys do, but that's so embarrassing and cringe worthy I'd have to edit it out if it were me. 🙈

Great vid! Faxanadu needs more love, that game is fantastic.
In 2016 it's a stretch to call anything on the NES a "hidden gem" anymore, but if I had to pick out a few gems that haven't been put on blast on TH-cam yet (I could be wrong), I'd probably go with: Air Fortress, Heavy Barrel, Dragon Spirit, Fist of the North Star, Image Fight, Low G Man, P.O.W., and Magic of Scheherazade.

  • @jcharr1

I had Xexyz back in the day. It's a lot of fun. I had completely forgotten about it until maybe a couple years ago I was browing my NES ROM collection and was firing up random games to try. Stumbled on Xexyz and was like, "hey I remember this! It's awesome."
I remember getting a game magazine that had a Flying Warriors comic in it and reading it in the car on the way home from town with my grandma when I was young. So even though I never actually played it, Flying Warriors brings back good memories for me.

I'm so surprised no mention of Galaxy 5000! Hands down one of the best racing games for the Nes. Cool graphics, great sound and very playable. It was the influence for Rock and Roll Racing on the Snes. BTW Great show!

  • @Breakdown776
    @Breakdown776 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You guys did it again, fantastic list, though I question how hidden Metal Storm is at this point. Very much so back in the day, sure, but on pretty much every collector's radar today (and for good reason, game is awesome, one of my favorites on the console). Super glad to see Faxandu, Flying Warriors, Xexyz and Vice Project Doom get some love. All super fun titles that I personally enjoy immensely.
And of course you should do a part 3! There's plenty more great games that don't get that much press out there, and with how the first two have gone I'm sure you will pick wisely. I'll throw a few out here:
    Kick Master
    Arkista's Ring
    Image Fight
    Solstice
    Kabuki Quantum Fighter

The Culture Brain game John was trying to think of is Flying Dragon: The Secret Scroll. Dragon Power is Bandai and based on Dragon Ball(with a bastardized localization that changed characters, etc)
Vice Project Doom is great, picked it up a few months ago.
More hidden gems huh, here are some I can think of:
Startropics/Zoda's Revenge (weird to think of 1st party Nintendo games as hidden gems but I almost never hear talk of them)
    Shadow of the Ninja
    Formula One: Built to Win
The Magic of Schehezerade (another from Culture Brain)
    Ninja Kid
    Conquest of the Crystal Palace
    Clash at Demonhead
    Monster in my Pocket
    The Lone Ranger
    Abadox: The Deadly Inner War
    Kabuki Quantum Fighter
    Batman Returns
    Freedom Force
    Guerilla War
    Ninja Crusaders

Excellent video as always, I have some of these games, some I used to have as a kid and now are too expensive to obtain.
I must admit I'm very very close to giving up on NES collecting completely.
Sure I got Little Samson, Rodland, I have Mighty Final Fight and a bunch of other rares but at the way current NES prices are it's simply not feasable to even restore my childhood collection let alone add some new games to it.
I have over 60 games but am missing stuff I HAD...like Surprise at Dinosaur peak which now I have as a bootleg because my original was stolen essentially :(
I dunno, great video but every time I watch one of these I can't help but feel so damn sad
Flea markets are out of the question too, thanks to hoarders they became impossible to find anything at here.
Oh well, settling for bootlegs and repros will have to do.

I feel like you read my mind with two of those games ... Destiny of an Emperor and Spot are highly under appreciated by many collectors. When I got back into collecting, those were two of my must haves. I thought I had might have commented that on the other video (part 1) but I did not see it there. I recall Faxanadu as well. Played it a ton as a kid surprisingly though I do not remember much about it. I should go back and play it as I have it in my collection.

      @torgogorgo1888 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+Mega RetroMan Ya considering this is a mech game and the sprite looks like an 8bit version of the first mech you use in Metal Warriors, and the fact that that is a fairly rare SNES game and one of the most expensive on the system, I'd have to agree with Jack that MJR is thinking of Metal Warriors.

I would like to share an interesting fact about NES games in Poland from early 90s. Back then nobody heard about consoles in the post-communist country, games were played on Atari, Commodore or Amiga. When Poland finally got it’s console it was a Taiwanese fake of the NES called Pegasus. The console could be officially advertised on the television as there was no copyrights laws established, it sold very well and many kids had one. Nintendo didn’t care as there was no official distribution anyway. Soon after it’s debut Polish market started to be flooded with even cheaper and more obscure fakes from Asian countries. As the consoles were breaking easily I remember buying a new one every few months for equivalent of $15 on a street market from some dodgy Russian traders. However the biggest excitement was when it came to buying games (btw the cartridges had different shape and size from official ones) as you never knew what game you buying! The labels were random with Asian description and most of the time had nothing to do with game on the cartridge. As a result buying a game was a lottery - will I get some super awesome platformer (I had the Duck Tales once!) or another 1000 in 1 containing 5000 variations of Tanks and Arkanoid. I know it was piracy but you couldn't buy official games or consoles anyway.

If there is one thing I do admit to hating, it is that now with this video out, I'm sure the scalpers on ebay and amazon are going to triple the price of Tiny Toon Adventures. (was going around $10-15 bucks on average, probably will be $30+ inside of a week, and I'm about 2-3 weeks away from buying it, lol...I'm so screwed).
