"advanced access" launch and the servers apparently don't work already, shocking. sad to see this series' corpse being masqueraded as a soulless online only drm-pre order bonus early access-fomo pass-post launch roadmap-poor performance-target audience abandoning-slop. TDU2 was probably my favorite racing/car game when I was like 10, and my steam wishlist shows this game as added on 12/23/2020, so I've been awaiting this game. I hope we can soon escape this era of drip feed gaming, and return to great games that function well and proper from the opening to credits without an internet connection kicking you out. I could see this game going something like the way of the Sony Concord tbh. heartbreaking. time to forget TDUSC: Gold edition, and return to TDU: Platinum, which I can play with a power outage on a low end laptop, and still get 60fps. reminder to never pre-order digital products.
Cyberpunk's comeback is mild compared to No Man's Sky. It went from the biggest disappointment to the game that I genuinely for the life of my cannot stop coming back to.
@@dgxxtremeI'm more concerned with the fact that it's always online, and you'd think smaller company like KT/Nacon could afford to keep the servers alive in the long run, much less for them to be able to brought up the promised offline mode at the end of the game's lifespan
Always online games feel like almost anything you can "buy" in real life nowadays, you dont buy it, you are just renting (apartment, car etc) until someone/something takes that away from you, games were used to escape reality, yet here we are
What's more hilarious is people defending the game saying that the demo was on an older build, but that's the same bs excuse every bad game dev uses, and when their game releases, it's always the same result.
@@Kortex_Racing y'know I haven't watched his or any other video on the console beta yet because I wanted to share my actual thoughts on the game without inadvertently parroting something I heard someone else say on another video. Knowing his content, I'm sure it's going to take a far more positive stance on this whole situation (highlighting all the bugs that have been fixed and how much smoother it runs, etc), but I'll give it a look regardless.
@@milkyy4168 Honestly it is kinda funny (and tragic) that a better version of the game was just shy of being available when the demo came out given what a sour impression the demo left in our collective mouths. The entire experience of this game, from its vague cgi announcement in 2020 to its botched gameplay reveal in 2023 to the announcement that it would be an always online live service has played like a checklist of everything NOT to do when making and advertising an open world racer; as a lifelong fan of the franchise, this entire experience has been painful to watch.
the original tdu inspired many titles like forza horizon and the crew, tdusc looks like the devs tried to copy fh and crew instead of trying something new.
Well if you ask me this IS positive content. You are doing Gods work Dank. Just imagine the thousands of unsuspecting people who will be saved from this incredible fuckery.
I also did my part by warning people about this game and it's shady marketing surrounding this game for years, and yet either nobody's listening to me, or straight up mocking me for "liking NFS" just because they need some coping mechanism with their always online slop of a racing game fell short in so many aspects it's not even funny in any sense of word compared to other racing games currently on the market
This was really good. I think you captured most of our thoughts perfectly. The demo made me actually install TDU2 again, as that is a mainstay for me, and I realized that this will not be changing with the release of this title
I'm surprised you haven't made any content bringing up how you saw this a mile away. But I figure you're tired of trying to lead horses (consoomers) away from poison water and yet they still mindlessly choose to drink it. And if that's so I don't blame you.
I mean, I did mention that I saw this coming in the "It's Time to Talk About Solar Crown" video, but I figured beyond a brief mention of that fact, it wasn't worth it to perseverate on it (especially considering that, like you said, some people just can't be reasoned with)
My biggest issues going into the PC version of the demo were the lack of an offline single-player career mode, which the previous two Test Drive Unlimited games had, and the small size of the map. (I don't care if the TDU version of Oahu was mostly empty with just a few dozen repeating buildings outside of a handful of unique locations and the houses, it was still a joy to drive around the vast map.) I still enjoyed exploring the parts of the TDU:SC map, especially the hills, but I miss the rural long straights. My biggest problem, though, was that if I was driving fast on the few stretches of highway that let you get up to the higher end of the speedometer, sometimes the game would freeze for a few seconds while textures and buildings in the next area were loading. Granted, I'm only playing on an NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card from 2016 but this was happening even on lower settings at lower resolutions and this is a graphics card that can handle Forza Horizon 4 without any issues. I'm already not inclined to buy a game with forced multiplayer (I didn't bother with the actual racing in the demo since I'm not interested in multiplayer) but, even if I still decide to buy it, I'm going to wait a while until whatever issues there might be in the release version are ironed out.
I'm just amazed that you managed to get it running at all on a non-RTX card lol! Well-articulated points made tho; online-only is (save for the very real abuse individual developers suffer in the game industry) the worst problem facing gaming today
@@Kultowy-97 I didn't have a problem with the framerate at lower settings, just the freezing when the next part of the map was being loaded in, which mostly happened on the highway.
At least The Crew 1 shut down servers well after the second game was released, offering most of the features and content of the original. TDUSC, I feel, will die like 2 did, quickly and unceremoniously, and with no offline mode it'll just become 100% lost media.
For many players, The Crew 1 was the best game in the series. The two successors can't even begin to keep up. That's why they are not an acceptable replacement...
Your dealership comment hit home. I was hoping they’d revamp with the ability to be more personal. Brake calipers, maybe even actual packages like weissach from Porsche, etc. You’ve made a well grounded and fair video. I’m disappointed they couldn’t at least update the beta further, but sure, I guess the manpower isn’t available to do it. On that note, they SHOULD offer a free trial once the games out (with progress able to carry over), especially as I assume even the next beta will be the same build lol. However that being said, there are still things ‘missing’ and needing improvements. I do hope KT and Nacon and prove over the time after the game launches that they can make this game into something that can make the conversion of ‘is this a true TDU game?’ become obsolete. Hoping for the best man; I mean I’ve always been optimistic anyway hahaha
I loved TDU 1 and 2. I was very excited when TDU SC was announced. But as time went on, we discovered more and more flaws. And I'm not talking about the graphics. I couldn't care less about the graphics. There's just not enough TDU in this TDU for me. Plain and simple. Offline mode, houses, licence tests, all the little side missions from the old games... And before someone comes along again and says that these things will come at some point. That's exactly why gaming is in such a pathetic state these days. Sell today, fix later. And so many people fall for it. And if the game doesn't even have any of the features of its 13-year-old predecessor, you can hardly say that expectations are too high, can you?
cant get over how miserably lifeless the map is, how are you going to have hong kong but empty and desolate😂 and its not a processing power limit cos sleeping dogs on the ps3 nailed it with pedestrians technical streets and traffic and just lifelike feeling
I could care less about the visuals, but outside of that it very clearly lacks in basically every regard That said, im more disappointed with the fanbase for just lying their ass off about this game to defend it. Some of my favorites so far are: "It has a better car list than any other game" "The physics arent bad, its a sim and you cant drive" "Its 1080P because the city is so detailed" "It doesnt have X basic feature because that basic feature is dumb/unnecessary"
@@ForeverDriven2121 I think it’s a pretty solid looking game, but it’s nowhere near detailed or demanding enough to excuse its poor performance. To me, a good car list isn’t defined by quantity but by quality, so having a smaller roster than Forza or Gran Turismo isn’t necessarily any problem (Need for Speed has been doing just fine despite low car counts, after all). That said, it feels like some of the selections on that list are a bit out of place (why put a track-only FXX-K on the list instead of a LaFerrari?). While I think the physics are good, something is definitely lost in translation on a controller (apparently it’s a lot better on a wheel).
@dankswank9088 in terms of car list, what I've been seeing is a few people claiming it has a "larger selection of relatable 2000s cars" than any other game when it's just objectively false In terms of car models, I understand the idea of quality over quantity, but TDSC seems to have neither. A number of the models seem to be jacked up. Squashed, fattened, too long etc However what I'm more concerned with is, for one, the monetization of this game....they made people pay for a beta, massive amount of post release paid DLC for a game with ~100 cars, etc, but even more - this game doesn't seem to have any content. All I've seen people do in footage of this is drive around. "Look at the city, look at the pretty lights, look at the leaves blowing around" cool, but where's all the long play content? What's the race count like? What's the end game like? Etc etc just seems like there's nothing there besides a handful of dull races and collecting cars And then you get these "oh it's 10x better than FH5 or TCM" comments like yeah ok lol
"better car list" this game has the worst I've ever seen in any racing games in recent times, for a game that's supposedly represent high end lifestyle, the newest cars you get can be counted by fingers (Lotus Evija, Lotus Emira, BMW M4 G82, Maserati MC20, and Pininfarina Battista or whatever tf it was called) this is even more apparent with cars like Nissan GT-R and 370Z respectively, where their modern iterations/successors do exist and yet they even as far as classifying the 370Z a "classic car"
My favourite defence so far: Stop moaning about always online. They did it because of the cheaters. With always online and the mandatory Nacon account, it will be IMPOSSIBLE to cheat. People wouldn't want to destroy their progress.’ So because it's always online, there won't be any cheaters? And because you have an extra account? I don't think so. If you get caught cheating and your account gets banned, you just create a new one. It's free after all. And if they go so far as to ban your game key, you buy a new one from some dodgy key seller for a small price...
Our only other alternatives are: *The Crew: Online only and its servers are getting shut down. * Forza: Tries way too hard to satisfy everyone but ends up satisfying no one. (Modern) Need for Speed: Reused assets and cars, terrible music and is starting to have storylines that seem like they were written by cringy corporate monkeys who only read the back cover of a Fast and the Furious DVD case and went with it. *CarX Street: Literally "Need for Speed at home". Feels like a cheap Chinese knock off. We're cooked, boys. There are no good car culture racing games anymore.
Thanks for the video. Very well made. It's such a shame, I've been looking forward to "TDU3" for so long, and now that it's here I have very little hype for it.
Such a shame, was so hyped for a new TDU... I think the BeamNG career mode, if it is given enough development resources, could well end up being the game that this should have been.
DankSwank has been right along, this game is disaster, atleast in current state. Really bad server issues, optimization and graphical issues and game is pretty soulless currently.
Since this game is heavily focused on Always Online, what pisses me off the most is that it requires an PS plus subscription just to play TDUSC! This game is a hard pass and i don't give 2 sh*ts of the fan base who are defending this buffoonery!
even with any arguments related to The Crew and video game preservation in general being thrown out of the window, getting disconnected in the middle of the race, or having your eyes being greeted with prompt screen after prompt screen related to faulty internet after doing literally anything doesn't sound like fun to me and (probably) everyone else either
So u didn't play The Crew ? Stop ur fucking crying abt online play when there's 30+ games that's always online did you go complain to them? If no stfu bc the going with the flow of shii I swear this generation is weak asf cry abt everything 😂😂
I agree. I remember when they first announced this game i immediately went sceptical about the name because it sounds like a spin off of TDU where the lifestyle isn't a priority focus and when they decided to set it in china where that place has no beaches and relaxing atmosphere, i had a feeling that solar crown was going to be shit and i was right
one their promotional screenshots a while back we're literally looked like they're being photoshopped and I'd rather save my laughs for the last when this game already has all the woes within the modern gaming in it's demo state alone, including but not limited to always online, missing content from it's predecessors & locking away demo to those who pre ordered the most expensive editions
You could be right about the spin-off idea. I wouldn't be surprised if one day they come out and say that it lacks all those features because it's ‘just a spin-off’. I've even seen people defending the game in that way. ‘It's ok. Nobody needs all the features because it's a spin-off’...
I will say, if somebody who really enjoyed the beta, I do agree with you that it would be nice to see them expand on the personalization available to the players in the dealership menu. It would be nice to be able to spec out the cars like you were able to in real life, like carbon, ceramic breaks transmission options, as well as other factory or OEM plus parts that you can order from the dealership would be a nice addition
1:24 Yes, Horizon 3 still looks good, the newest Horizon I still play because H4/ H5 kinda " lost the way". I feel it just cant be helped: Unbound didnt interest me, Motorfest was set out to challenge Horizon 5 but it just became another Ubisoft game, Horizon 6 isnt in high hopes since Motorsport 8 failed so hard. And now the beloved TDU gets a new entry from a studio that seems in over their head, the game probably races well but doesnt have many TDU elements and seems lackluster in many design choices. An Offline mode is a must in my opinion, but needs the content to support that. And yes graphics arent everything but the aweful optimization is going to draw away players that simply cant run it. I guess its back to the classics for now, lets see how TDU:SC releases and gets updates. But it sure wont be game that I rush out to buy in the first week...
IMO, tdu solar crown feels soulless and lifeless. It feels like the game was made by robots, not humans or even ai. It feels so nothing if that makes sense
@dankswank9088 beta is still on build v1.0.43.1, which is almost the same build as the pc demo. Thus build is atleast 6 months old. The release build and demo build are separate branches.
I have heard someone say that the PC Beta was at least a year old build. I am not sure of where they heard that, I am vaguely remembering that they said the Dev had said that in a blog post.
@Kortex_Racing I don't understand what they don't get abt that but then again they didn't play the PC beta so Hyder like the guy woke made this video is clueless to the difference 😂😂
I saw this coming along time ago. Who wouldve thought that a small studio that made mediocre WRC games would make a mediocre open world racing game? The biggest issue with SC is the OPTIMIZATION which DOESNT EXIST! I could've ran horizon 5 at 1080p high settings between 35-45 fps on a i3 3470 and a rx 560 4gb with 16gb of ddr3 and it looked amazing! While i can't even boot TDU SC! They lost a battle before it even began. I really doubt that a small studio like that would fix these issues in less than a 1 year. At that point the game would probably have lik 500 players at max.
I am unfamiliar with Test Drive Unlimited as a franchise and despite hearing others complaining that this borrows too much from Forza Horizon, which I definitely dont mind, this so far is panning out to be the meme "We want Forza Horizon, We have Forza Horizon at home"/looks at TDUSC. I played the PC Demo and I do not have a top of the line PC but I dont have a slouch either and it struggled to play on Medium settings, which is concerning considering I can play Motorfest on High and FH5 on Ultra with no issues. The visuals of this game just do no warrant that kind of resource draw. I was planning on pre-ordering the Gold Edition but after the Demo, I have not pre-ordered anything. They need to have a Free Demo of a FINISHED product and need to stop hiding behind "Not a finished Product, Gameplay not reminiscent of the finished product", we need to see that finished product. I want this game to do well, because I want an Open World Racer for my PS5 other than Motorfest, but from what I played and have seen, this isn't it. The trailers they showed last year to hype the release of this game looked great and then we got the PC demo and it felt like we got the TEMU version of what we were shown. I will still wait and watch to see what happens and make my call after it releases. Who knows, mabye we might have the No Man's Sky of open world racers happening, mabye when the final product is released, it will shut down all of the criticism, but I do not know how optimistic of that happening I am.
I really enjoyed my 10 hrs with the demo its not perfect but the general direction is spot on,technical stuff can easily be fixed (like the steering animation).
This is well said, BUT the No Man's Sky slander is unwarranted. If there was a time to compare it to NMS, it's when saying how you hope it could improve. Which, if NMS could improve the way it did albeit over years, there's still hope for TDUSC
True, but IF is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence; Unlike No Man's Sky, KT doesn't have the same AAA financial backing that Hello Games does, and without that, sustaining a live service-style game, much less one that requires as many fixes and added features as Crown, boarders on untenable in my humble opinion.
yeah, but that is also assuming it lasts long enough to get those updates, I am amazed at the Pheonix-like rise that NMS had, but that is an exceptional example, nothing has come back from the fire like NMS has.
@@JJARCHIE I know and it is insane, I just got back into the game after not playing for over a year and it is mind-blowing how much the game has improved since its launch
@@JJARCHIE yeah, i dont get how they can afford to keep doing that. Heck, I bought No Man's Sky twice, I have it on Playstation and on PC. It is one of the few games that I can get lost in playing and next thing I know, its several hours later before realizing it.
Forgot to get a screenshot after adjusting the settings (I did eventually get it to 60 but I can assure you the gameplay experience was still pretty stuttery and choppy)
Yeah I was thinking about this game for a while and this may be a deal breaker for me. If this is even close to how the game is going to look on release, I’m not buying it.
and it was just insane especially for smaller company like whoever these guys I doubt this game is gonna lived that long in the forseeable future considering their budget, before inevitably become a lost media by that time
7:33 it's just impossible to race on streets like that. I agree that some NPCs around the city and more traffic would be good, but even in Midnight Club LA is too much and annoying
@@Child_of_woe_1994 Glad to hear; as a rule of thumb, I NEVER preorder a game (not just because it could end up like this, but because doing so further increases the likelihood of companies as a whole continuing to pull these kinds of stunts)
I played the PC demo and really enjoyed it. Because the car physics felt good to me, the cars sounded very realistic and the sense of car ownership was there. The core gameplay felt like thought was put into it. The graphics are better than FH3 for sure. You can see it in this video alone. Also, FH3 had pretty horrible performance when it released. It's unfortunate that not all TDU features are there at launch, and it's unfortunate that the optimization isn't perfect. But my experience with the demo was pretty good in general, except for NPC cars spawning and de spawning, and some weird fps drops that required to restart the game. I wanted to actually play the demo every day because I had fun which can definitely not be said for FH5 for example. I feel like people are asking for way too much and focusing on irrelevant details. But I also understand that this game's marketing is hyping this up so people are going to have those high expectations. It's also not a very good sign that to market the launch of the game, they make a video about the features that won't be there at launch but added later. It's kind of like what happened with No Man's Sky, partly talking about a game that was still just an idea and not actually there. But of course they redeemed themselves, maybe KT has the same idea of sticking with the game. I know that I will enjoy playing this no matter what though because I loved just cruising around Hong Kong island in a car that sounds good and has fun handling.
@@RCmies the physics are solid; the execution left me wanting (I was using a controller but I hear it felt a lot better on a wheel). It looks good for sure but idk if it’s better than Horizon 3 (consistency seems to be an issue with how buildings and people look relative to foliage and car models) and while performance was also an issue with Horizon 3, my experience with Solar Crown was definitely worse (especially considering that horizon 3’s performance problems were often solved by simply turning off msaa as shown by Digital Foundry) I honestly didn’t find myself any more enticed by Solar Crown than Horizon 5 and at least Horizon 5 had a lot more I could do, regardless of wether or not I had other players to do it with (Horizon 5 still has a lot of problems tho and I talk about a lot of them in my review of the game). Sure, people are asking for a lot from Solar Crown but Nacon also promised a lot for Solar Crown (a 2022 release date on half a dozen consoles including the switch, for example) and a lot of what is being asked is reasonable and should be expected from a TDU game (offline functionality being the biggest example). I do agree that their promise of giving us the features we want potentially years after we pay for them is a pretty glaring red flag and while I hope they can pull it off for the sake of the people looking forward to this game, idk if Nacon really has the budget to follow through. Regardless, I hope they have the decency to provide offline functionality (or at the very least an offline patch that can be saved to a usb for preservation purposes) so that people who enjoy the game can keep playing it even if Nacon pulls the plug.
Why is the map so lifeless? Los Angeles in MCLA on ps3 and xbox 360 had more life than this, Almost 0 traffic, no pedestrian. Like compare TDU SC Hong Kong map to sleeping dogs and holy shit, this looks like a lifeless piece of crap😂
Hey I left a comment in your last tdusc video asking you if you saw a few comments directed to you that vanished shortly after, and you never told me if you did. So please tell me if you saw them.
I never did; TH-cam will sometimes automatically delete comments for some unknown reason (even when you tell them not to), so I’m assuming that’s what happened.
I play just about all racing games. This one's an open world game. It should have things in the world, else it might as well be in closed race tracks. There are enough of those already. Sometimes I even wish Horizon had more traffic, but in contrast this game looks like it follows an apocalypse.
yeah it's bad and disappointing, i would've never thought the game that i was waiting for since 2021 will end up like this unoptimized and unfinished pos.
For a game that’s based in Japan you’ll expect more lights and a vibrant atmosphere, and especially an engaging car scene 🤨 I got the gold pre order, the full game better be better! I did immediately think the crew motorfest graphically looks way better, I thought I was just thinking things but it’s true 🤦♂️🤦♂️
*Hong Kong what's with some people whose ability to differenate between Japan & Hongkong we're as adept as modern gaming journalists when it comes to actually playing games?
The first Crew game in 2014 had all nowadays racing games beat at launch. The only 2 things that's not too perfect were physics and car sounds in that old game.
@@pravnav Isn’t the demo for a game supposed to reflect the quality of the final release? Also, given the lack of houses and the online requirements (along with many bugs and performance issues) that are basically guaranteed to be in solar crown at launch, do you think “it’s just a beta” is really the best defense, especially considering that console players had to PAY EXTRA just to play it?
@@dankswank9088 this is not a demo, this is a beta. A demo is a finished build of the game, but just limited. A beta is an unfinished, developer build of the game which explicitly states "subject to change, does not represent final product", and yeah lack of houses does suck however they did confirm it's coming later down the road. And yes, it being a beta does justify the state the game is in, it's clearly unfinished. And I don't really understand your point of console players having to pay more to play the beta, I mean yeah they did, and what?
@@pravnavholy shit you’re actually dense, when the game was out for PC players it was marketed as a DEMO. Also the demo was free for all pc players and Console has yet to get an open play test. Many people doubt if this game is even ready for release
It is compared to Forza Horizon and The Crew because that is the competition, that is what is it literally competing with. The only pay things in Motorfest is vanities, they do not help you win, there is no pay to win here. And the "You cant blame the game because this is a BETA" argument is old and tired. BETA, DEMO, Shareware, ETC does not matter, it is the first interaction that most players will have with the product, so you want to put your best foot forward and intended or not, the poor outing of those is turning alot of ppl off. It is the cold hard truth. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, you liking the game does not invalidate other opinions.
The "this is a work in progress" defense is little more than a rhetorical shield from criticism at this point, especially considering that several recent games with far greater resources at their disposal have released in a similarly broken states barely improved from their beta builds. With this in mind, it's hardly silly to compare Solar Crown to "AAA" games like Forza and The Crew, especially considering that Solar Crown's own game director did exactly that, literally stating "We are competitors with GTA6, Forza, and The Crew". I'm pessimistic with good reason; this industry is one in which a company is directly incentivized to put their best foot forward in presenting a game, and given that THIS is the best they could do in the leadup to release, it certainly doesn't bode well. I'm sure that a lot has been improved in the game since this build, but it's safe to say there is a LOT left to fix and that most of it is likely to remain at launch, especially since most of what is wrong with this game is in the form of missing features and foundational issues synonymous with its status as a live service. Also, if you really feel like I'm some Horizon 5 fanboy, I implore you to watch my in-depth review of the game where I am certainly critical -> th-cam.com/video/7XgNOZyE0wE/w-d-xo.html
thats why i say Unreal Engine is overrated, bad performance, and effects that need heavy temporal antyaliasing to look decent, when not blurry and ghosty
that's such a cap but alright whatever floats your boat man. I just can't wait when TDU SC has like 6k players two months after its release while horizon 4 and 5 achieve over 15k players daily(steam charts). Your analysis of the Demo is spot on and @AlexVII had already proved the more recent version of the game he interacted with, has been improved. We don't currently know how old the demo build is vs the launch version or how much has changed for better or worse, and precisely what touted features are in at launch. TDU2 launch was blighted by dodgy servers and a bug ridden game with missing features from TDU. On top of that players complained about the handling, so it kind of makes sense they may focus on physics and servers first. The story behind TDU2 not fulfilling it's potential is an interesting read and the fault rests firmly at Atari's feet. This story and KT being a small developer, may help people understand the current direction of TDUsc.
@@SyeJenPlus4 Isn't it rather sad that we still don't know what the finished game will contain just a few weeks before release? KT's marketing and communication is just awful. I can't understand how anyone can pre-order a game with so little information in good conscience these days.
@@benn87 your not wrong, but isn't that the case with a lot of games these days. It seems the harder they try to banish the TDU2 launch problems the more they are creating it's own launch issues. Remember that one of TDU2's problems was it was well ahead of its time and these now industry standards were being set by Eden Games, a small developer. KT will have had a set budget as they are not funded by a Billion dollar company will bottomless CASH. A.J. and a coupe of others were heavily involved in TDU2 and TDU so it's in safe hands, however they have stated they will listen to the community and maybe add improve things based on feedback. They had no plans for houses/garages and due to the feedback that is likely to change.
Recycling games is normal now even for TDU. When the car drifts, the revs die and it doesn’t keep the wheels spinning it’s as if the engine doesn’t have the power to power out sideways. The same way the old TDU was. This game is garbage for $150 in Australia. Boycott NACON. Especially Rockstar for milking us. It’s either we take back the industry or they’ll built it for us
"advanced access" launch and the servers apparently don't work already, shocking. sad to see this series' corpse being masqueraded as a soulless online only drm-pre order bonus early access-fomo pass-post launch roadmap-poor performance-target audience abandoning-slop.

This is about to become the Cyberpunk of racing games. It will be a miracle if this game even makes a comeback.
Cyberpunk at least had next-gen graphics and lighting. TDU-SC has nothing going for it.
No idea how you can compare this game to Cyberpunk.
Cyberpunk's comeback is mild compared to No Man's Sky. It went from the biggest disappointment to the game that I genuinely for the life of my cannot stop coming back to.
let’s hope it’s the Concord of racing games

Always online games feel like almost anything you can "buy" in real life nowadays, you dont buy it, you are just renting (apartment, car etc) until someone/something takes that away from you, games were used to escape reality, yet here we are
What's more hilarious is people defending the game saying that the demo was on an older build, but that's the same bs excuse every bad game dev uses, and when their game releases, it's always the same result.
Did you see Alex’s new vid? 😅😅
2 weeks after the demo ended alex7 got access to a build that had noticeably better handling and plenty of other bug fixes. Pretty “hilarious”.
Saw Alex's new vid?
@@Kortex_Racing y'know I haven't watched his or any other video on the console beta yet because I wanted to share my actual thoughts on the game without inadvertently parroting something I heard someone else say on another video.
The Crew not only was inspired by TDU, most of the team behind the game worked on TDU previously.

Where is ur proof it's not changing?
I'm surprised you haven't made any content bringing up how you saw this a mile away. But I figure you're tired of trying to lead horses (consoomers) away from poison water and yet they still mindlessly choose to drink it. And if that's so I don't blame you.
I mean, I did mention that I saw this coming in the "It's Time to Talk About Solar Crown" video, but I figured beyond a brief mention of that fact, it wasn't worth it to perseverate on it (especially considering that, like you said, some people just can't be reasoned with)
Here to remind you that you can still play TDU 1 and 2 online (with a mod of course)
hell, even I can still play these two games completely offline, years after these games official online servers we're since perished away
My biggest issues going into the PC version of the demo were the lack of an offline single-player career mode, which the previous two Test Drive Unlimited games had, and the small size of the map. (I don't care if the TDU version of Oahu was mostly empty with just a few dozen repeating buildings outside of a handful of unique locations and the houses, it was still a joy to drive around the vast map.)
I still enjoyed exploring the parts of the TDU:SC map, especially the hills, but I miss the rural long straights.
Already refunded it’s a shame that they are using the test drive unlimited legacy name
I also have a GTX 1080 OC, I managed to achieve 28 fps on medium settings during the beta on PC...
@@Kultowy-97 I didn't have a problem with the framerate at lower settings, just the freezing when the next part of the map was being loaded in, which mostly happened on the highway.
@@abbasaltimimi5001its not the same company how yall not getting that atleast they keeping some of it features and added some 🤷🏾
At least The Crew 1 shut down servers well after the second game was released, offering most of the features and content of the original. TDUSC, I feel, will die like 2 did, quickly and unceremoniously, and with no offline mode it'll just become 100% lost media.
For many players, The Crew 1 was the best game in the series. The two successors can't even begin to keep up. That's why they are not an acceptable replacement...
I thought the characters and character animation looked better in TDU2.
I could care less about the visuals, but outside of that it very clearly lacks in basically every regard
That said, im more disappointed with the fanbase for just lying their ass off about this game to defend it. Some of my favorites so far are:
"It has a better car list than any other game"
"The physics arent bad, its a sim and you cant drive"
"Its 1080P because the city is so detailed"
"It doesnt have X basic feature because that basic feature is dumb/unnecessary"
@dankswank9088 in terms of car list, what I've been seeing is a few people claiming it has a "larger selection of relatable 2000s cars" than any other game when it's just objectively false
In terms of car models, I understand the idea of quality over quantity, but TDSC seems to have neither. A number of the models seem to be jacked up. Squashed, fattened, too long etc
However what I'm more concerned with is, for one, the monetization of this game....they made people pay for a beta, massive amount of post release paid DLC for a game with ~100 cars, etc, but even more - this game doesn't seem to have any content. All I've seen people do in footage of this is drive around. "Look at the city, look at the pretty lights, look at the leaves blowing around" cool, but where's all the long play content? What's the race count like? What's the end game like? Etc etc just seems like there's nothing there besides a handful of dull races and collecting cars
And then you get these "oh it's 10x better than FH5 or TCM" comments like yeah ok lol
"better car list"
this game has the worst I've ever seen in any racing games in recent times, for a game that's supposedly represent high end lifestyle, the newest cars you get can be counted by fingers (Lotus Evija, Lotus Emira, BMW M4 G82, Maserati MC20, and Pininfarina Battista or whatever tf it was called)
this is even more apparent with cars like Nissan GT-R and 370Z respectively, where their modern iterations/successors do exist and yet they even as far as classifying the 370Z a "classic car"
My favourite defence so far:
Stop moaning about always online. They did it because of the cheaters. With always online and the mandatory Nacon account, it will be IMPOSSIBLE to cheat. People wouldn't want to destroy their progress.’
So because it's always online, there won't be any cheaters? And because you have an extra account? I don't think so. If you get caught cheating and your account gets banned, you just create a new one. It's free after all. And if they go so far as to ban your game key, you buy a new one from some dodgy key seller for a small price...
Our only other alternatives are:
*The Crew: Online only and its servers are getting shut down.

I think the BeamNG career mode, if it is given enough development resources, could well end up being the game that this should have been.

DankSwank has been right along, this game is disaster, atleast in current state. Really bad server issues, optimization and graphical issues and game is pretty soulless currently.

Sorry you had to wait so long (brief explanation on the latest community post if you're interested)
Since this game is heavily focused on Always Online, what pisses me off the most is that it requires an PS plus subscription just to play TDUSC! This game is a hard pass and i don't give 2 sh*ts of the fan base who are defending this buffoonery!
Need to pay 100$ to rent a game and then 10$ every month after 💀
even with any arguments related to The Crew and video game preservation in general being thrown out of the window, getting disconnected in the middle of the race, or having your eyes being greeted with prompt screen after prompt screen related to faulty internet after doing literally anything doesn't sound like fun to me and (probably) everyone else either
So u didn't play The Crew ? Stop ur fucking crying abt online play when there's 30+ games that's always online did you go complain to them? If no stfu bc the going with the flow of shii I swear this generation is weak asf cry abt everything 😂😂
I appreciate this. Thank you.
You're very welcome (sorry for the wait)
I agree. I remember when they first announced this game i immediately went sceptical about the name because it sounds like a spin off of TDU where the lifestyle isn't a priority focus and when they decided to set it in china where that place has no beaches and relaxing atmosphere, i had a feeling that solar crown was going to be shit and i was right
one their promotional screenshots a while back we're literally looked like they're being photoshopped
and I'd rather save my laughs for the last when this game already has all the woes within the modern gaming in it's demo state alone, including but not limited to always online, missing content from it's predecessors & locking away demo to those who pre ordered the most expensive editions

Absolutely!
2:30 alao TCM getting mirror working in Year2 but looks smooth
Great to hear; it’s even better that the game is getting patched for offline play (supposedly)
Well articulated crticism. The demo was atleast a 6 month old build, so Im sure much of what you mentioned are improved or known of.
I'm sure a lot if it is improved, but taxis are still doing kickflips in the beta atm 🛹

I hope to god it launches like no mans
Considering how many updates it kept adding to this day
yeah, but that is also assuming it lasts long enough to get those updates, I am amazed at the Pheonix-like rise that NMS had, but that is an exceptional example, nothing has come back from the fire like NMS has.

This game needs more work at least another year or two.
It looks good for sure but idk if it’s better than Horizon 3 (consistency seems to be an issue with how buildings and people look relative to foliage and car models) and while performance was also an issue with Horizon 3, my experience with Solar Crown was definitely worse (especially considering that horizon 3’s performance problems were often solved by simply turning off msaa as shown by Digital Foundry)
I honestly didn’t find myself any more enticed by Solar Crown than Horizon 5 and at least Horizon 5 had a lot more I could do, regardless of wether or not I had other players to do it with (Horizon 5 still has a lot of problems tho and I talk about a lot of them in my review of the game).
I didn’t waste my time with this game, it looks like a less good The Crew 2

Did someone complain about the lack of traffic jams in a racing game? Trolls always expose themselves. 🤣🤣🤣
I shouldn’t be driving for half a mile on a highway without seeing ONE OTHER CAR
I play just about all racing games. This one's an open world game. It should have things in the world, else it might as well be in closed race tracks. There are enough of those already. Sometimes I even wish Horizon had more traffic, but in contrast this game looks like it follows an apocalypse.
Ever wonder why "No Hesi" server in Assetto Corsa is popular? people love weaving around traffic.

Honestly who cares about graphics as long as the game is fun
😐 Yeah about that…
Just check out the post launch video
I did; still not feeling great tbh
The video has not changed my opinion. Above all, this Fomo nonsense really gets on my nerves.
The first Crew game in 2014 had all nowadays racing games beat at launch. The only 2 things that's not too perfect were physics and car sounds in that old game.
subbed in 30 seconds now to see if that was worth it
No shit the BETA which is an unfinished build is bad
They obviously had no confidence in their game if they have to release videos of a “current build” instead of letting players play test what we are expecting on release. Many people doubt if this game is even ready for release
@@Nightboyvq so I am the dense one if you were one who misinterpreted the entire thing, and don’t even know the difference between demo and beta alright. This is literally why most games don’t do open betas. People don’t know what a beta is and they think it’s the finished game even when it explicitly says subject to change, does not represent final product. Do you not see the hypocrisy?
The physics suck
How about we let the game y’know… Release ?
You don’t wait for cancer to metastasize before you treat it
Stop hating this game! The demo was really good, only thing it needs is more traffic cars!
@@sanderhackerhd8369 it’s better than it was, but it’s still far from polished (taxis are still doing barrel rolls). Besides, the real problems with this game (its missing features and live service nonsense) will persist well after launch
welp
back to AC nohesi I go
It is compared to Forza Horizon and The Crew because that is the competition, that is what is it literally competing with.
This dude didn't watch the video and only focus on the dumb "work in progress" excuse 🤡. Fanboys are worst
thats why i say Unreal Engine is overrated, bad performance, and effects that need heavy temporal antyaliasing to look decent, when not blurry and ghosty
@@RogueBeatsARG racing games are one of those genres that just don’t seem to play nice with UE
@@dankswank9088 So True!
I had more fun with this game than forza horizon 5 even with the bugs and stuff
that's such a cap but alright whatever floats your boat man. I just can't wait when TDU SC has like 6k players two months after its release while horizon 4 and 5 achieve over 15k players daily(steam charts). TDU will die out really fast in like a year mark my words and you won't be playing it at all.
@@akiplay312 i will just play online with my friends but i am not a huge fan of online games, the thing its physics may seem sketchy but they are more realistic and make the racing better, races on horizon 4 and 5 are a joke, any car can offroad like a trophy truck, roads are wider than a highway, and everyone just crash each other, you can play ghosted but its like playing alone,
Why you are expecting the game to fail?, such negativity doesn't add anything to the comunity, this game is made by a small team, and it will get updated plus is will be only for 25 DLLS $$ , stop beign such a FANBOY, forza has a lot of flaws and it is the worst horizon in the saga, but it is made by a big studio with a very big budget there is no point of comparsion there.
@@jesusserrano8769 i don't even have horizon currently besides horizon 1. Ik it's trash but it seems that the casual community loves horizon 5 and it succeeded pretty well at least that's what numbers tell.(Its the most played racing game of this generation) The best physics in my opinion are from PGR 4 and Horizon series. They are fun , smooth and engaging. Idc bout realism since they are arcade racing games.
@@jesusserrano8769well in this case, they're literally brought it upon themselves when they implementing a putrid garbage of a racing game across the board with dated graphics, lacking so many features previous games in the series had, and most of all the dreaded always online drm on the side made for "modern audiences" in mind
@@adlibbed2138 lmao dude seems you got emotional over me saying i had more fun with TDU than Horizon, Graphics are not the best but they look good, the Last games never had the best graphics Either, yes they are missing some features from previos games but this is not EDEN games this is a New small Studio, there is so much Room for udpates and the racing is far better than what we have in Horizon, is not Iracing Physics but this us not a sim, seems you are hating for no reason lmao
Reviewing a game based on its beta demo? 😂😂😂😂😂
Given that THIS is what they put out to advertise the game to its audience, I’d say it’s fair to use this to judge Solar Crown, especially given that a lot of the issues here are just not gonna be fixed by release and that “it’s just a beta” is increasingly becoming little more than a shield from any and all criticism. As Maya Angelou once famously said, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them”
Your analysis of the Demo is spot on and @AlexVII had already proved the more recent version of the game he interacted with, has been improved.
FROM THE FUTURE: The game released and it is currently a shit show.
yeah... 🙃
It’s either we take back the industry or they’ll built it for us
bigger game maker always seem to, if they do, know what we want, but they never understand why we want it and mess it up
