Making Bag : Boxy Bag
- Hi guys, this time we made this episode about to make lady's boxy bag. Its need to work on a little more complex of bag's part. But if you guys work with veg-tanned leather without lining will be way more easier to complete. (Nice hardware lock will change this bag design felling.....even change from leather strap into some more bling chain.

I'm very glad to watch your work!
Thank You from Bangkok, THAILAND :)
Do you think 5-6 ounces of pebbled leather is sturdy enough to make a tote bag or I need to add a stiffener?
awesome... thanks a bunch
mil gracias por el video, me encanto!!!
What do you call the that golden metal clamp thing to close the bag
you r simply awesome with perfection 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Beautiful work, I would like to try to make this bag.
You do such a great bags! And you patterns are amazing aswell! Could you do eventually a video about how exactly you use the stiffener?
Cute
oooh that's fancy
I absolutely loved this video!! I definitely want to give this bag a try but I have one question, how much leather did you use for each section? (for interior, interior and stiffener)?
Bella!!
Hello Craftsmangus, where are these molds available? Thanks, great videos, they're helping a lot
😍 I wish I knew how to do this
thanks
Thank you for posting you have great skills! Amazing to watch. Perhaps due to length of video you skipped over how you made the strap? I definitely would have wanted to see that. Please do list the materials and tools you use. I'm subscribing.
Hi iLoveLeatherNYC.
In our videos we like to make in brief and not too long videos. So the main part are in the video.
We are really sorry if we have to trim some part off.
And we are in Bangkok, THAILAND so some tools and material are local and cannot find online.
Just some of them you might find something similar.
-Leather : Local cow chromed tanned in EPSOM emboss
-Lining Leather : Local pig skin
-Stiffener : Splited cow veg tanned leather, or you can use texon
-Glue : Local adhesive contact "Bondtech", or if you can find "Prym" "Dunlop" "Pattex" but I never try "Barge"
-Pricking Iron : Amy Roke 3.38
-Linen Thead : YueFung
-Electric Creaser : Regad size F1.5
-Accessories : Local
-Edge Paint : Fenice
Hope this can help.
Hi. Thank you for your quick reply. Yes this is very helpful information to have. I totally understand the video being long, perhaps make a separate one for the strap? (or any project that is complex) that way we can watch whatever we'd like to see.
Your skill level is incredible so a longer video is no problem and more than one is fine.
I loove it. Which glue are you using ?
I made the glue quick review in my IG, please take a look via following link.

fantastic
Awesome! Well, I have never attached the flap facing when the flap is completely flat like I create 90° edeges where it folds. Does really the facing underneath (attached to the flap on a straight line) let the fap folds easily later on?? Big big question occupying my mind... hope you can help me. Thank you so much in advance 🙏❤
Hi sama.
For the facing underneath (may mean the lining right?) that can be fold easily,
its is really depends. Like depends on purpose of design of bag's flap to be stay an upside down U-shape or willing to be flexible flat.
If fix shape, glue n paste together when its in curve shape (can be on mold) will have it stay, but the lining must be not too stretchable.
If flexible shape, glue n paste on flat surface with flexible lining is the way.
But for flexible shape, the lining must not be to hard, it will be against the fold.
Hopefully my English can be understandable. (I'm not fluent).
@@craftsmangus It was perfectly fluent. I appreciate your help.
Can you tell is where you get the tools from and that skiver machine you used......Thank you😊
I use most of the tools from Japan you can find at leathercrafttool.com
and pricking iron I use from AtelierAmyRoke.com
some are from Blanchard FRANCE
and skiver is NIPPY JAPAN.
Great video! Quick question, what is the tool you're using at 0:42?
Amaaazingggghhh
I would like you to make a handbag Lady Dior inspiration! Is beautiful!!
Hi, you do excellent work!
What kind of leather do you use, where do you get it from and what walking foot machine do you have?
Thanks.
Hi Otealua,
This project I use embossed leather in texture called "EPSOM" made by local tannery in Thailand.
But if you are interested in this leather you may browse IG and find for "Fineleatherclub" or "Europelle".
I use JUKI LS 341 N for walking foot machine.
I love this bag. but I want the corners of the gussets inside out. how could it be done?
PERFECT!!!
Hi!! Love your videos. Is there a reason why the front and back pattern are slightly bigger on top edge? It because after the bag is sew together all the side edges will be aligned?
Thank You.
There will be more opening room space (Not to be too flat).
@@craftsmangus got it. Thanks again!!
The panels have different thickness? 1.2 and 1.8 mm? Or is it just the stitching part?
Please what do you use to mark the leather?
That's silver pen (liquid carbon pen). =)
Thanks so muchh
amazing she dont need sewing machine bravOoo 👏👏👏 what you call that little fork? that makes a hole?
Its the pricking iron. You can find in ebay and many leather supply shop.
Excellent tutorial! What tool are you using to apply the paint to the edges of the bag? Thank you!
Its a brass paint dauber.
I used to buy this one from RMLeathersupply.com but for this model now no more.
I recommended to buy similar like this from crimsonhides, very good tools from Singapore.
bit.ly/2ON9Sf5
I also use this right now.
I want one!!! Do you sell them online?
I'm really sorry.
I make only TH-cam video tutorials and pattern for sell only.
What does "stiffener can be begged tanned .08 or eva" mean what is eva and veg tan and stiffener
VEG-tanned leather for vegetable tanned process leather
EVA foam is kind of stiff foam sheet.
Stiffener as material that help the main material more stiff.
Beautiful, what’s the name of the glue that you used?
I use "grafted polychloroprene adhesive" Bondtech brand (local brand in Thailand"
code BT-430
What kind of brush do you use to apply the glue?
In this video we use silicone brush (for acrylic paint, might find in art supply store).
Très intéressant
can tell me all materials you use ? even glue and brand name because im beginners I have no idea what glue that is , sewing stuff , that item look like fork , I would love learn ... I wanna be pro just like you
Hi Joselyn.
For glue it's Grafted Polychloroprene Adhesive local brand here in THAILAND name "Bond-Tech No. BT-430" Basically you can use contact adhesive and wait it until dry.
For things look like fork normally called pricking iron.
For other things and knowledges I cannot explain all in comment. If you would love to learn I'm not sure where you are and if there is
local leather workshop around your area or not.
But if you like to learn online you can check at leathercraftmasterclass.com
Just before you decide to take class online or local, you may need to seek a lots of info, may be browse in TH-cam for tutorials first.
And also I do make video of short review of one good book at th-cam.com/video/cxfOfYlEV3g/w-d-xo.html
:)
Awesome. Can I ask: what glue you use and the stitching iron make ? 😊
I use contact glue.
I make short reviews here in my Instagram.

Thank you, so beautiful jab, well done. so what is the item that you used on the edges?. thank you again.
lovely work! What glue do you use and whats the tool you apply it with? Many thanks
For glue. In this project I use local (Bondtech brand in Thailand) contact cement (yellow rubber glue) and apply with silicone spatula. It's great combination, glue stick well and glue stain can remove of the silicone spatula easily.
Hi, great and very useful video.
I have a question. What's the name for the tool you're using at 7:40 and what is it for?
That's electric heat creaser.
For making border line decorations.
@@craftsmangus Thank you for your time making this video and answering questions :)
Can i purchase a bag?
Perfect
What is this primer that you are using?
I use "Fenice" brand but its repackage by local supply shop in Bangkok.
What is the thickness of the leather punch?
I use 1.8 mm. leather thickness.
Hello. what is the name of the tool you use in minute 1:23 and why you use for? Thank for share yours skills
It's electric edge creaser, this tools can change tips for many purpose.
This one I make a decoration line and the pricking iron guide.
Wow, I have a few designs that I want to have made, how do I go about doing this. Do you make them for others?
Hi.
I'm really sorry.
I didn't make leather goods for sell.
I do video tutorial on TH-cam and pattern for sell only.
Hi, I absolutely love the result, but I have a few questions. How thick is the black leather you are using and also, what is the material of the “stiffener”. I live in a country that speaks Spanish and I have no idea how to call for a “stiffener”.
Thank you!
That black leather is about 1.8 mm. thickness. (Many of cow leather sell in Thailand are about 1.8).
For stiffener means to help bag in structure, to make it in good n stiff shape.
Normally I use the splitted leather from the thinning process ( top layer for making wallet, underneath skin for stiffer).
But for some place that didn't have leather splitting service is kind of hard to find.
You can use other thing like EVA foam/texon/drawing paper/ rubber mat ( thin n light).
It will give more wight to the bag. And each stiffener will give different feeling.
Hope this help. :)
Bravo
Fantástica q glue usas
What is the thickness of the leather? 3oz?
That's about 4oz+
Hi, could you explain the process of your edge finishing?
What products are you using and why.. ;)
For edge finishing I use Fenice primer and paint that sold to the factory that I know in Thailand. For me I use 2 different primer, 1st is to close up the hairy layer of the edge and 2nd different primer to fill-in the edges before applying the paint. Primer is very important in making this process easier.
After the primer is dried I paint, after the the paint is dried use a very fine sand paper then paint again. After the 2nd layer of paint is dry sand paper again then use a wet sponge or dilute the paint with water and apply the last layer of paint very thinly.
Also, this video I didn't heat iron on the edge but you also possible bees wax and heat on the edge too.
Thank you for the answer. This is the first video i saw somebody use primer. Will have to look into that some more ;)
craftsmangus Many thanks for the detailed explanation. Do you happen to know if the primers can be bought online?
does anyone know what stiffener is used?
In this vid I use the splitted leather (after thin down by planer machine) as stiffener.
Pls I will want to download this bag

is amazing!!
What was that machine being used along the edges at 7:45?
That's electric creaser brand REGAD.
hello I would love to make a designer bag. is an online course
Wht is the material of your lining plz
I use very thin skin as lining. You can use goat skin or thin suede.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊
Can you link all of the materials you used?
Most of them I bought from local store at leather street of Bangkok, THAILAND.
But you can find leather at "Europelle" and some materials at "Leathercrafttools.com"
craftsmangus thank you!

What’s the name of the glue that you use?
Do you sell the pattern to make the bag?
Yes, you can visit our ETSY pattern shop via this following link.

Beautiful, but not easy to make it..

i can totally do that...... (?)
This bag need leather bag making experience.
I'm sure if you do lots of bag already, you can make it. :)
Your work is amazing, but, is there a point on using vegan products, if the leather is real? Or did I misunderstood something? @@
I am not vegan, it just is that it didn't make any sense to me x_x
Hi Shinomiya .
Veg-tan leather termed from vegetable tanned leather or tanned from trees matter eg: oak bark, tree's root or tannin and other matters (part of example). Can be cow veg-tanned or goat/lamb or other hide/skin. :)
Veg leather means that it is tanned with vegetable color - hence the name. It has nothing to do with being vegan. :)
