Did you use natural sinew thread?

Natural sinew has no twist, therefore to anchor your needle you must twist the sinew prior to inserting the needle through it and must do that again in order to anchor. Otherwise the thread slips through the needle eye. He only anchored once indicating that this was a braided thread.
