I'm on limited income too. Disability, several chronic issues. Its wonderful you donated. Did your part. I find if I'm able to do even a small part in helping those I chose to help, the one receiving my help is blessed. But I'm blessed too-- knowing I helped. Its a double blessing. Stay strong.

Ignoring Trump for one full 24 hour period was the best Christmas gift I gave to myself. Once he was out of the way, the 25th actually started being enjoyable!

That Saturday when they called the election was such a freaking relief. I stopped paying attention to trump and it was absolutely delightful
Ever since the bleach and UV press conference I just doom scroll headlines quickly to make sure Trump hasn't enacted Martial Law or bombed Germany. I haven't listened to Trump directly after that but just wait for the summary on the news. I don't listen to left wing Limbaugh clones either because they're just in it for the clicks and like Fox they only ramp up the necessary outrage for their own purposes, namely to stimulate wars in the comments, TMR, David Pakman, TYT etc.
Tommy's resolution of not holding grudges anymore and instead just finishing the job... I felt that.
I have noticed that theme in Tommy's throw away remarks for the past couple of months. I really hope some people with the ability to do stuff will seriously make an effort to settle scores because one thing this election did was to take off the masks. We all know who is who now and some people have been very naughty.
Things Nate Silver is Responsible For:
-The factors he puts into his model
- The way he advertises his model, to an extent
- He isn't really great at communication, especially to people who aren't math nerds and political junkies
Things Nate Silver is Not Responsible For:
-Errors in traditionally reliable and well trusted polls that he didn't conduct
-The general trend towards polling become harder and harder
-The special bullshit that was polling and voting in 2020
-The Blue Shift on election night that everyone knew was coming but were still upset about
-The fact that the US generally does a poor job of educating people in stats/data science and the communication gap that results

Especially your last point. I don't know how many times I've seen someone says "I don't care what math tells you to do..." Math doesn't tell you to do anything or guarantee anything, it just gives you the probabilities of something occurring.
He got so defensive about the polls and it wasn't even his fault. chill, dude
He also talked, leading up to the election quite a bit about how "this 90% also includes the premise it ends up being a squeaker."
I'm so glad I discovered Crooked and, especially, Pod Save America and Pod Save the World this year ! It's been a real bright spot for me. Let's hope for a better 2021 for us all. Stay safe, stay well, y'all!

Agreed. A new find for me as well. Though biased- my own 20-somethings give me hope (most days), these young men do too. I really like - I mean it - like (!) them. As in I’d invite them over for drinks or a meal. You just don’t feel that way about many people these days, and that’s a pity. Nicely put.

i worked for months phonebanking for Sara Gideon - heard her speak on a number of occasions- she was a very good candidate! Collins deserved to lose for numerous reasons. Still getting over it!

This was a GEM of an episode. I loved this so much! Tommy Vietor's flinty edged hatred was my favourite resolution. Lovett's a close second.
I’m enjoying this pod today in a recliner with my brand new pod save america mug.
Lovett....hang a trash bag over the shift handle and instead of dumping garbage into that front seat, dump it in the garbage bag. Works like a charm!
I sounds like he needs to get a hefty yard clean up bag and hang it from the headrest to the dashboard and throw a deodorizer and rat trap in there for good measure.
I think Lovett may need a bigger trash bag.
That would require getting/buying a big trash bag and hanging it on a handle, and the bag would have to stay open, otherwise when Lovett inevitably missed the bag the trash would fill up the floor anyway. My son just tossed it over his shoulder into the back. As long as both of his parents didn’t ride in the car at the same time, it worked fine. LOL
I've also said that whatever I'm invited to in 2021 I'm going and if that means I'm seeing a good friend's child's theater show, I'm there.
Imagining going to a children’s theater show makes me smile. To be around so many people in a crowded space seems impossible. Watching a live children’s performance & not fretting the whole time about the virus or Trumpism is a buoying thought.
I'm not going to lie, I've enjoyed having an excellent excuse to do absolutely nothing more than the bare necessities of life. If haven't been 100 yards away from my house in months and other than wishing I lived five miles closer to the beach I'm good with this for another year or two... except for the people suffering part.

The First Annual Pundies was a great success! The bit about “tone” was illuminating. The political press, not unlike the financial sector press are entirely too short term in their observations, ascribing the smallest of current incidents to some new and long lasting trend; this they did throughout this year regarding DT when all previous evidence and precedence would clearly bear out a different analysis. God but the press shat it’s own pants this year. As a whole they come out of this year smelling really bad.
Many (not all) of the writers know better, but if you have to write or talk in detail every day, you have to invent possible futures

You guys are delightful. Thank you for helping us through 2020. Especially I would like to thank you for making getting involved and contributing to campaigns accessible to us at the grassroots level. I didn’t buy a Starbucks or any other coffee this year. I donated my coffee money and as much disposable money as I could afford to ballots up and down the ticket and all around the country. You filter it all down and point us in the direction to make these small contributions where they will make the most impact. You made me smarter, more engaged- but mostly you made me laugh when things got pretty f-ing dark. Happy New Year and here’s to better days in 2021.

Lovett! My now 24 yr old son has stories from his childhood in which he remembers his feet resting on a pile of trash, mostly empty Frappuccino bottles and plastic S bux cups. Luckily, he wasn't traumatized by it...too much. He went on to work at S Bux as his first job, from 17 to 23. 😆
I am insanely grateful for the Pods. All of them. I found the Pods about the same time I was diagnosed with Lymphoma (and about the same time Los Angeles was locked down because of Covid). You guys have kept my brain engaged, got me to get on phones on days I could, and send out Vote Save America links to my friends. Above all else, you helped me to get involved in things and not feel sorry for myself. You made me laugh a lot. Thank you.

Lovett, you and my husband have the same car habit. 🤦 Your chanel was a great discovery this year to keep us foreigners updated on the crazy political structure you have in the States. But let's be clear, your resolutions mirror our own up North, so we're far more similar than we give each other credit for. It's been a joy listening to all your programing. Here's to hoping 2021 is interesting in the fact that it will be more "normal".

My new years resolutions is....I will never again trust polls and I will never make another resolutions.
I feel ya. I don't do resolutions...I do try to do better in my diet and exercise (though Covid is making it hard!) I retired in January this year, and though this year has been a shit show, at least Trump will shortly be an unpleasant smear in the rear view mirror. I had to put off a move and joint replacement surgery on account of Covid and this is making getting exercise harder. The local aquarium just finished construction and opened up and I love aquariums but I'm afraid to go with Covid. Still though, I know that I am blessed. I'm over 60 but under 65 with no comorbidities so I likely won't get the vaccine until the Summer because tgstbputs me in priority 2 (along with 120+ million Americans.)
Because I am retired, though some expenses went up (Food), I have been financially stable, that's not true for many Americans. I didn't start drinking, haven't had fast food since March, don't gamble, and I am eating more healthy food. I'm not perfect but it could be worse. Hopefully I will have z better year in 2021 but I think that is more up to me than external factors. I ordered more masks and sanitizing wipes which now seem to be marginally available after 9 months of not being available for love or money. Life is good (and yes, my standards have gotten lower this year.)

My vote goes to Helmuth Norpoth's "prediction" that Trump was going to get re-elected with 400+ electoral college votes because... he totally crushed the GOP primaries.

@@pakde8002 Bill Weld was running in 2020, he won 1 delegate from Iowa. Trump forced the GOP to cancel most of the state primaries because he was afraid he might look bad.

A podcast that explores what infrastructure means in this day and age would be great. I'm not sure we should be spending fortunes on roads when folks need consistent electricity. Having Russia threatening our already aging electric system is very scary. Figuring out what infrastructure means today will help us figure out what we need to pay money towards.

If trump had acted like an adult, for any length of time, and if he had simply acted responsibly about the pandemic, he would have won, easily. The fact he literally couldn’t, is why he lost. He was never fit for the office, and that was obvious from the start. It’s enormously sad that so many people couldn’t, or wouldn’t, see that.
Exactly right and his complete lack of empathy for all the Americans that have died from covid and their families.
Thank you for making 2020 a lot better and for caring about your country's future, I learned a lot about US politics, as Canadian we deal it differently but we love crossing the boarder and enjoy your cities. All the best the to all of you for 2021and the good laugh, I enjoyed every episodes.

Lovett, brother, you are so Loved and Im still playing along on the home version today so, "LEARN TO COOK!" You look beautiful! ( People feel happy when they see you.) So, since the goal is happy and healthy, eat what you want but use solid ingredients that your body can process. You can eat a lot more without the added fat and sugar needed for long shelf lives. Remember, junk food is just well marketed cheap food. The thing that's brilliant about cooking well is, the creativity and engagement MAKING the dish is such a sensory experience that eating some is only a fraction of the enjoyment. Plus, seeing someone else gaze at you adoringly when they take a bite is... f$%king great. AND you get to eat it feeling pride and Love and yes, Joy. 💙
