  • Donald Trump incites a violent insurrection against the U.S. Capitol, and Democratic candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff make history in Georgia, wresting control of the U.S. Senate away from Mitch McConnell. Jon Favreau and Dan Pfeiffer discuss who is responsible for the coup attempt in Washington, from the president to elected Republicans Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley to media outlets like Fox News and Facebook. Then, they break down possible actions like impeachment and the 25th amendment. Finally, they discuss the work of Stacey Abrams and other organizers in Georgia, and what lies ahead for Joe Biden once he takes office.

Crooked believes that we need a better conversation about politics, culture, and the world around us-one that doesn’t just focus on what’s broken, but what we can do to fix it. At a time when it’s increasingly easy to feel cynical or hopeless, former Obama staffers Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor have created a place where people can have sane conversations that inform, entertain, and inspire action. In 2017 they started Crooked with Pod Save America-a no-bullshit conversation about politics. Since then, we continue to add shows, voices, and opportunities for activism, because it’s up to all of us to do our part to build a better world. That’s it. End of mission.

Those did, but I also think Mitch blocking the vote for $2,000 checks was the killing blow that finally pushed Warnock and Ossoff over the top. Mitch could have let that vote happen, told Perdue and Loeffler to vote yes, and there still would have been enough votes to prevent it from passing. Then they could have taken that back to Georgia and used that in their campaign... "hey, I tried, but it was out of my hands..." but blocking it from the jump just gave Warnock and Ossoff even more ammo.

I can’t believe that a firefighter in Florida was caught on film and the fire department put a statement that he is currently on paid leave while they do their investigation. What investigation? They have video proof of him being inside of the Capitol.
Apparently he, the firefighter stated that he found himself walking into the Capitol; a decision he now regrets but with all the excitement he wasn’t thinking. I take it that the barricades in front of him were there for decoration and the Capitol police were props to complement the barricades.

I remember, how it looked in June for the peaceful and unarmed BLM protestors. National Guard troops from 20 different states, heavily armed Feds with no identification as far as the eye could see and the 101st airborne standing by outside the city complete with fucking bajonets!
Here? Not a Fed in sight. Capitol Police with only hand guns and batons and in regular day numbers. National Guard requested, but denied access. Desperate politicians under siege calling the Governors of Maryland and Virginia to send their National Guard and Riot Police to save them from an overrun Capitol, and it still took another 1½ hours to be allowed access to DC, and they still did it on the word of the Army Sec, who is NOT in the chain of command to authorize that.
This was not a security failure. This was deliberate. This needs to be thoroughly investigated, who gave those orders, who kept the reinforcements back for hours, who decided to have zero security in place ahead of time. Some1 wanted this to happen.

Can we ALL just acknowledge the maturity, sincerity, kindness and love that radiates from Senator-Elect Warnock's eyes, his cute dimples and his smile? Warnock and Ossoff are BOTH GOOD MEN, I feel it in my bones , [ Ditto for Jamal Bowman , who won his seat for NYC Bronx, Westchester ] I have watched their interviews and I am impressed that these Freshmen are going to work for THE PEOPLE when they enter Congress.

I don't get all these officials talking about how many days or working days Trump has left when this coup was done in hours🤔!!! So I suggest every one focus on the hours that he has left because I hate to throw a wrench in these intellectual people's infomercials but, people who rally or riot don't take weekends off!!🤭

Kay Ink honestly, being furloughed and stuck in my apartment since March and having basically no social contact this whole time -while watching pods and knitting to pass all of my time- has created a probably not-necessarily-normal amount of emotional attachment to the guys. 😂

For some reason just thinking about the democratic win in Georgia for Rev Warnock makes me want to cry. How he overcame the racist and bigoted attacks with grace and hope and he WON is just truly moving. It makes me believe that good things can still happen in politics.

Democrats turned out more then republicans yes, but I also think that democrats and traditionally disenfranchised voters thought that even if they did vote it wouldn’t matter and Biden winning showed them they could flip the state. They then (in my opinion) knew they could so they did. And we all thank them. I honestly hope Georgia inspires more voters in the south who think because their state is red there isn’t a chance to flip it (republicans also make it really hard for them to vote) do whatever they need to do to vote, turn out and vote people in who will make voting as easy as it is here in Washington. Thank you Georgia.

A friend of mine recently went out in the field working for the secret service. She and her coworkers along with DC metro received death threats all morning yesterday because people's weapons and illicit items were being confiscated upon entry to the Trump rally. I shudder to think of how much worse this could have been if so many more of those individuals had been armed.
