Amazing recipe. Many years ago I had a chance to walk in Hanoi streets and the brewing of coffee is one of my persistent memories of that enchanting town, repleted with lakes and century old culture. Thank you.
Yeah life canging is the right word. I'm here watching this video because it's been 2 weeks since I've been to Hanoi and I still think about ca phe trung every single day!
I have so many eggs from my pet Turkeys and chickens I needed recipes to try this. I used Turkey eggs for this and the coffee was made in my 18th Century Swedish Copper coffee pot. Let me tell you, it was my first time to try this and it was truly awesome!!! I think it would be easily applied to make an Irish coffee with the egg cream and a dash of whiskey ....thanks for briniging me this knowledge!
Thank you, you explained everything perfectly, going to try this, I love Vietnamese coffee so much, it's strong and robust. I'm used to strong coffee so this is perfect for me (Cuban coffee lover here) 🥰
Thank you!! Thankfully we have a lot of different Asian stores by me and so I always go and buy all my coffee and Vietnamese drinks from there! ☺️ But this is a great way in case I can’t get there! Thank you.
The breville (brevili Sufi plug ) can't work as I changed to seal to create a stronger suction 😭 sorry rules are rules 😭 Time to find new covers so I can unravel them 😭
Thanks! I really love your clear, simple and organised instruction. I just made one cup of this egg coffee and it’s so nice!👍🏻 Btw, I prefer this egg coffee than Dalgona coffee as it’s less sweet and less heavy
i just saw one of these coffees for the first time yesterday on another vid I need to find a vietnamese place in my city that makes these, I want to try one
Hello: I'm new to your channel. Actually I've just returned after a three week vacation in Vietnam and I'm craving the egg coffee. So... 1) where can I buy the coffee in the USA? 2) Where can I buy the coffee press you are using in your video? Many thanks, I look forward to hearing from you in the next days. Peace!
So...I forgot how to make this and just added a whole egg and brown sugar before pouring in the brewed coffee. It still turned out good. Then I had to search for the recipe after drinking since I forgot and was curious if I did it right. Lol. It's still good though. One whole egg mixed directly to hot brewed coffee, with brown sugar.
A late reply, but maybe useful for someone: you can beat the yolks with sugar and you will obtain something similar, in Italy it's a pretty common "grandma's recipe" and we call it "uovo sbattuto"
No...if you are worry about salmonella, you can pasteurize your egg(s) (google it for detailed instructions) ...but, a quick method to do a quick boil. have enough water to cover entire egg at least by 1 inch, bring your water to 140 degrees F (Note: at 142 F you will start cooking the egg) and place your "ROOM Temp" egg in for 3 to 5 minutes. 2d Note: If not room temp, your cold egg(s) will most likely crack when place in hot water.
Yes, it could be that she's not a native V speaker , but It could maybe because she's speaking English. It's hard to mix in Vietnamese words perfectly when you're trying to nail the English part simultaneously, especially a word like "Nguyen". Foreigners are gonna watch this too since she'a living in the U.S, it's best to pronounce in a way that is familiar to them than try to "teach" them to speak V like a native.
This doesn't look half bad. I'd probably try it. I'm actually here from r/foodcrimes where some dude cracked an entire egg into a coffee cup before pouring coffee in and stirring. A couple doses of sugar and he claimed it was pretty good. One of the comments claimed it was the same thing as you're doing here and linked your video as "proof" that the whole egg into a cup of coffee was "a thing in both Vietnam and Norway"...
Oh so the coffee scoop becomes a icecream scoop to eat from the joshanda which is not possible because they be eating themselves as it's sealed with a kiss 😭 and the pirates lips are sealed so now he has to walk the plank 😭
They ain't the issue...all kinds of people seem to struggle with languages that aren't their own. My heritage is Jewish and Irish,a world apart from Vietnam, but I'd actually like to know the correct pronunciation. Who knows though, for all we can tell maybe she only speaks English.
@@antipasinchrist One would think that, but I've been in Viet Nam for a few years and NEVER heard it pronounced that way. Often people lose a lot of their heritage when assimilating into American society - along with that, they may have lost the authentic pronunciation.
Your brain literally works like mine. Your instructions are so detailed with your measurements. The way you communicate makes it possible for anyone to be able to do what you are doing perfectly. This is exactly how my brain works too with everything. Will you marry me?
I'd say stray on the safe side and pasteurize the egg at 200F with a thermometer for 5 minutes just to be safe, because there is a concern for food borne illness.

Have your phin and your coffee! Just heard about Hanoi Egg Coffee today! Nice to see this video!
Bruh, is that a supreme branded bowl? I didn't expect that on a bowl that very much looks like my mom's/grandma's xD
"really important to use Robusta coffee", then you read the packet from her brand and it reads "50/50 Robusta/Arabica" 🤣
So... she still used Robusta.
What if you don’t have a hand held blender? Can you use a small milk frother?
WOOW , Ngon qua em 😋😇🤩
Where can I buy them hand mixer you used in this video?
This is awesome, just like I learned and tried it! Very nice video!
This is the least of thousands of Vietnam's wonders.
First wonder is : the vietnamese people !
Can we put that egg cream on green tea?
What is the regular coffee to water ratio for viet coffee made with a phin?
Hye, im from malaysia... How can i bought Nguyen coffee for Street shop...??? Serious buyer
Would like to know if I didn't have a Phin Coffee Filter, can I use a Moka Pot?
Only cost a tenner
You could use a French Press
What size Phin was that ?? (fill to top)
They serve at a crepe shop in Boston.
My foam doesn't come out thick but runny. It drops to the bottom of the coffee. What can I be doing wrong?

I have tried quite a few number of times but the egg still is smelly. I am not using any whites of the egg. What I might be doing wrong?
Viet has strongest coffee even iced even hot I love instant 3 in 1 cream sugar coffee mix from Asian market ok robusta coffee is the key
FYI, it is not made with milk because there was a milk shortage so egg was used...
So the coffee isn't hot enough to cook the yolk, but heats it enough so it's not raw?

Great way to get protein

It should be ok
harmful bacteria are actually usually on the eggshell and not inside. What you can do is clean your egg quickly before you break it.
