  • Hidden compartment for the battery on the SUV types of Mercedes. On this ML350 model, the battery location was right under the front passenger seat.

    I have a 2008 ML 63 and the battery is dead. I was getting ready to take it to Mercedes and pay them $550 to replace the battery. This video helps me do it myself. Thanks, you saved me a lot of money.

    when you are disconnecting the battery cables always disconnect the neg. one first then the Pos. When putting them back, do the Positive first than the neg. Other than that, great video.

    Great video mate. Everything in this was spot on and made the battery replacement of my ML350 a simple task. The only thing I'd add to this is that you may find it difficult lifting the battery out - I used a long thick shaft screwdriver to give the battery a "ramp" to travel up as you pull it out on the angle.

    Great tutorial. A few notes to add.. you’ll need a 10 inch socket extension w swivel adapter on end. When putting bracket and bracket nuts back on use a magnet extension tool (about $6 at Lowes) to put bracket back over bolts and to start your nuts. I think he mentions this briefly but doesn’t go into detail. Pretty straight forward if you follow his steps here and have the right tools.

      believe it or not the Engine compartment get hot and will weaken the battery life. Putting it back in the back seat area is better for longer life. If you really want to have a challenge at a batter R&R try the Chrysler Seabring it is in the Right hang front wheel well. that that is crazy

    Is the battery that you pulled out size H8? Did you replace it with the same H8 size battery? These days, some battery manufacturers are suggesting H6 AGM as a replacement even though it is lower in specs just because of ease of replacement (mechanically)

    Does it matter which terminal you disconnect first? I've seen other videos remove the negative term... first then reconnect the positive term... on the reinstall of the new battery.

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Well, you're right, the veryyyyy correct way to do it is the NOPO-PINI way:
      Negative out, Positive out
      Positive in, Negative in
      I get caught in the middle of it when trying to record, forgetting about it or just trying to do it fast and don't pay attention. BUT as long you disconnect the Positive first make sure it's completely protected and not let it touch any metal part of the car and you should be fine which ever way you decide to disconnect the battery leads.

  • @pcl1559
    @pcl1559 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I'm just disconnecting the battery for long vacation (half a year or more) can I just disconnect the negative terminal? or do I still have to remove both negative and positive terminals?

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s best to disconnect it completely and actually take it out the car and store inside especially if you live in a cold place.
      Even better, use a reputable “automatic” trickle charger that has a BMS which charges and stops when it’s full and then charges it again when it goes below the level and so on…
      Regular trickle chargers won’t do that as you have to manually remove it when battery is full or it might damage it.
      If you’re going to get one, look for a trickle charger charger that supports the exact type of battery that you have since there are a lot of types of batteries out there. Or you can get a high-end battery maintainer that has functions for all types of batteries.

      @@AlbanianFix Thank you! I live in SoCal and park the car inside my garage, so temperature isn't a big deal. I thought about the trickle charger, if I get one do I connect it to the front engine's positive and negative terminals or to the battery under the seat?

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If a car has a battery installed inside the cabin and sometimes in the trunk even, the battery vent is a safety component that avoids pressure & gas build-up and allows air and gasses to pass through the vent tube and go outside so you don't breathe it into your lungs.
