It's really important for anyone learning how to start a TH-cam channel to understand TH-cam monetization and making money on TH-cam. As a suggestion, when you said that you made a video about wealth and it didn`t do as well as other you tubers video`s, I was waiting for a link to the video to pop up on the screen as you chatted. Because of your experience as a financial advisor the video further peaked my interest. But I cannot be bothered to go through the effort of looking for the video you mentioned. So you have a potential missed opportunity there for further views on the video that didn`t work well initially, because other viewers may feel the same way as me.
I love your authenticity. Lots of TH-camrs are claiming that starting a new channel will be saturated and super difficult for new creators. I started my YT journey a year ago and already crossed 85k\month with two major channels. The reason they say that is because they do not want you to take a piece of the cake. It will never be saturated and there's always more room for new creators. However I did notice that all the influencers are just keeping the real methods to themselves. I understood that after reading an eBook. No one is talking about how to outrank competitor videos, how to bring additional traffic outside YT, how to do proper off page SEO etc etc.

Finance channels make the most money on TH-cam by far. $30-$40 per 1,000 views, when most channels are like $5 or less. So the average channel with the same views would have made less than $1,000. Probably more like $500. That is why so many people quit TH-cam. Graham Stephan talked about it.

This is really encouraging. Hubby and I are seniors (80 and 73) and want to start a TH-cam crafting channel. We have experience with several programs, including editing, and also with the craft we've chosen. But we've been hesitating because we weren't sure it could be worthwhile. My channel was new and my videos hardly passed 500 views mark. It was frustrating and I almost gave up. It was when my friend told me about Fame Ster that gave my channel traction it desperately needed. After that, I saw an explosive growth. Man, who could have said that a small boost of real views can make your channel blow up!

Consider me engaged! These are easy to watch and you have a soothing voice and your videos aren't all flashy with no real content. Great work! I like your persistency. I was filming for months on my main channel. Hours of great content but I just couldnt get any recognition. I wanted to delete my channel, but luckily a came across guys from Farm ster. They pushed me with first 1k subs and a bit of views. Now I have 20k of real people following me on my main channel

You're certainly doing one thing correct that a lot of TH-camrs are not and that is your not using 20 words when you could use just one. I watch a lot of TH-cam videos and I find myself having a short attention span. If someone starts having verbal diarrhea I am gone. And I know I'll always look at how long the video is compared to how interested I think I am in the content. Too long and I don't even click on it.

I agree! I have limited time to invest watching videos. Nothing frustrates me more than creators that drone on and on. I find myself saying, "Just get to the point" as I exit the video.

Really good and transparent information. I started my channel years ago only as a hobby and never considered getting serious about monetizing. I see the potential and it is something I may consider.
With your employment history, you have plenty of public/business speaking experience. You're beyond just well spoken...You have the photo experience, the background is centered and equal without clutter and well lit... give yourself more credit

This is the first of your videos that I’ve watched. You covered a lot of good information. You’ve picked up a new subscriber.
I’m planning on developing my own TH-cam channel but right now I’m in the research phase. Things like video editing software, Mac or Windows, etc. viewer profiles, segments, are there metrics on viewer’s available, etc, etc…
I can see why you're taking off! You're clear, articulate, pleasant to watch, and you don't beat around the bush. Had my channel for a year now, and I agree. People are busy and want value without a big investment in time. Most of my videos go about three minutes max good luck in your efforts!
I agree with that. Keep them relatively short (5-10 minutes) until you get a following. Then you'll have a better idea of what your audience is interested in, at which time you can do longer videos about the topics where they want a deeper dive.

I know of an influencer who makes $50K a month and the others, I watch, they make even more than that per month.
Look at Mr Beast he makes over $50 Million per year . , He has over 30 youtube channels , but he
has a lot of people who works for him .

You're doing well! Don't judge your success by others. I was only hoping to be at 1,000 by 6 months, so you're doing better than my original goals. I'd say just keep grinding. Build each video around a topic, and try to pick topics that you have reason to believe might be popular. All you need is one or two videos to hit and your channel can grow very quickly. If new creators would ditch the idea of making money and apply the ideas of making videos people want to watch they'll get there quicker. It's an average time of about 1 year for most new creators learning the ropes. This guy is 100% correct about 1 video carrying the channel at times😊. That's why it's important to have a consistent upload schedule for the algorithm to consider 👈😎🤳

Exactly in line with what I've experienced too. I started last year and most of my subscriber growth and revenue has come from 2 break out videos that have gone over 50k in views! It's amazing but difficult as it seems to almost be a little bit of pot luck as to what will perform well!

Im trying to figure out if it would be worth it to monetize.. we do bluegrass cover songs that would need to be licensed for approx $300 each. We have a 50k view video and a 137k view video and tend to get decent views rven in our less popular videos. You think there would be any profit?
@@backwoodsbluegrassbandNo probably not on the video alone. Your RPM (revenue per 1000 views) will probably be quite low due to the subject matter. Let's say it's $5 which is a high estimate. That means you'd need to get 60,000 views per video to break even... I think it's more likely you'll need double that or more... just something to think about... but then if you can get income through patreon etc it might be worth it
I can't speak for other people, but i was inclined to watch other videos from you because you seemed honest and authentic in your delivery. Unlike other channels rushing to sell you a course after giving bare bones information.

I am so glad you posted this and that I stumbled across it. I am wanting to start a TH-cam channel and don’t really have a clear focus on what the content will be. It’s kind of more of a fun thing to do on the side. If I get monetized great, but in the end that’s not really my end goal. Don’t get me wrong, I would love for the videos that I make to make money, but it is not going to be my main source of income. It might be a weekly or biweekly posting of videos. Either way, knowing how long it could take to get monetized, is good information to have. Thanks again.

TH-cam should have been the subject of a class action lawsuit. What they did to those of us that were monetized for years but did not have enough subscribers when they changed the rules is disgusting. They took away money that had been earned and not paid out. I stopped trying to grow my channel at that point. I still do some TH-cam but just because I enjoy it not to try to earn any money. I have a video with almost 500,000 views and they used to pay me for that one video, now I get nothing.
What happened exactly? With the rule changes and all. How did the take money from creators? I am asking because like many other people who are watching this video, I am contemplating starting my own channel and want to know what I am in for.
@@huwhitecavebeast1972 The old rules did not require you to have 1000 subs or monthly watch hours to be monetized. I was monetized under those rules and earning money. Not a lot, but i was earning. When they changed those qualification rules any money you had already earned at that point, if you no longer qualified, just disappeared into thin air. In other words TH-cam kept the money themselves they did not pay it out.
They made it a little easier now. Join Matt Parr's class, he'll help you get it monetized again.❤
