Here are 8 facts for TH-cam beginners.... things I wish I knew about TH-cam before I got started, and my surprising results after 3 months on TH-cam! In my opinion, I think TH-cam and social media in general is entering a new, more mature phase where people are getting tired of the flashy/over-hyped Mr. Beast style clickbait BS and looking for more genuine connections from creators. I think you are doing an amazing job of being honest and fully authentic in your videos and that shines through. I'm not a TH-camr or expert, but as a viewer, I enjoy your body language, tone, and shot setup. Your script is outstanding. However, I suggest reducing stock video usage, as it can be distracting. Your appeal comes from the casual, conversational feel, so keeping the focus on you will enhance your credibility.

id agree with that. you are a very good speaker and your relaxed style is comforting and relaxing then the dumb stock footage comes in, i generally dont like that in most videos anyway.
Haha I didn't mind the comedy cut senes but did feel as if the video editor is adding more than need that's taking away your serious manner. But definitely continue the channel, try discussions on your experiences and education it's really insightful. It's clear you have knowledge so continue with teaching what your good at, like marketing knowledge I'm hear from your etsy video
I, for one, don't mind stock footage or other types of inserts. I've seen on many channels though how these can be overdone. The hard part I think is finding the balance between the education and the entertainment.

number one thing stopping me is i've tried things like this before but lack the follow-through mainly because i need feedback to keep going. And that feedback doesn't come until months after I feel like I'm just wasting my time in the face of the unknown
@@elessartrost I agree, it can be hard to push ahead in something without feedback, but you have to try anyway. The #1 way to guarantee that a person won't find success is if they don't try at all due to concern that it won't work and/or do try but then stop too early. If that's holding you back, you should write that down and look at it daily as a reminder. Also, commit to working on something (whatever it is you want to pursue) for x days regardless of results... 100 days, for example. It's cliche, but it's a form of working through the pain to get to the other side. That said, you should take care to put your efforts into something that has a reasonable chance of working. Don't commit to buying a lottery ticket every day for 100 days, because that almost for sure will NOT work!
Honestly, I have no problems doing lib streams and going off the cuff. Being entertaining and taking live messages. My number one hangup, and I’m so embarrassed with us is that I just can’t get myself to do a pre-recorded video with myself in it. It feels hollow, but I know it’s not. Maybe I doubt myself on the amount of information I can give. This is one of the hardest things ever. I’ve had my channel since 2006 I believe. It was dormant for a good 12 years. Last year I decided to really use it and I have 170 followers

My #1 thing stopping me is content ideas!! Oh, and credentials. lol. I have some hobbies that I'm deeply passionate about (e.g. nutrition), but zero training or certifications to back up myself. You're a CFO, so I trust what you're saying about your money topics.

Dear Sir, as a kindergarten teacher, I can only say that the average attention span of of a YT viewer is the same as that of a kindergartner. You have to find the balance between the subject matter and your enthusiasm for that content, so that the viewers stop fidgeting in their seats long enough to absorb it. That is what keeps the journey interesting and challenging. I think you are a good teacher because you can make a person, like me, who has no experience with the topic at hand, learn something important. Good luck!

Came here from your Etsy video and I just want to say you’re doing some good work. Our TH-cam channel has nothing because I think what I will post will be boring but, you’re right, just get on with it. out of the billions of people online, someone surely will want to know it. Thanks bud keep it up.
Pick a topic that you enjoy and feel you can make a lot of videos about, and then go for it! Make sure each video has some structure to it... meaning it has a point that you want to convey.... and then deliver on that idea. I think the people who struggle try to make vlogs about their life (but nobody knows them, so it's hard to attract interest) or post about random, unrelated topics.
This is a very laid back, well worded and paced video. I started in November 22 also and it really is a slow but long experience.
It is so hard these days to find someone honest like you on youtube that really share true stuff and experience.

I've been considering of starting a TH-cam channel since I enjoy reading (typically two to three books per month) on a wide variety of topics, but I'm concerned that my English accent may be an obstacle because I reside in India and read primarily about the West.
But, in any case, I'll probably go ahead.
This might be God's sign to me to get back to putting out videos of what I enjoy without caring too much about if people will laugh or won't enjoy the content.

For your first video, can you do an experiment: Change your thumbnail. Replace your image with Warren Buffet. Change the color of arrow from red to green. Change the font to dark green on black background and replace the man holding the dollar sign with a '100%'. See if the algo picks it up.

I’ve always found the best videos come from passionate people dealing in a very narrow niche of a single topic. I’ve seen success with a cellphone video propped up and no editing and vice versa.
So true, you don't need expensive equipment or a fancy studio to make successful videos. You need: A clear message, well-delivered (don't mumble and stumble and repeat yourself), with good audio quality is probably 90%+ of what matters.
You don’t need the cheesy b-roll. Just be you, talking head with clear, wise, genuine advice. Changing background can help as well. Put a green screen, then you can have any background. Even cheap lime green fabric will work.
Refreshing to have a new channel without all the hype and hyperbole of the others.

I've been wanting to start a YT channel for a LONG time. Hardest thing for me is to find a topic or niche to publish about. I know the technical field is very competitve, but I've been a software engineer for the last 20 years, so it's a field I know really well, just not sure how to make it interesting.

Cool. I should have stuck with it before. I uploaded a few videos about philosophical/theological debates. I didn't have the time to make anything of decent production value, literally just black backgrounds with white text and some still images of the person I was arguing against. I knew the production value sucked and didn't have much response at first, and I had to decide to keep painting (my first love and "day job" at the time) or to put art aside and make more videos, which would probably involve investing in equipment to make it higher quality. I chose the former and stopped making videos.
I came back 6 months later, literally having forgotten I made these videos, and realized one of them had 10,000 views, another had about 5,000, and the others were in the high hundreds. I also got several hundred subscribers. 😲
I'd like to make a channel about theology and art, but not sure if I have the time. We'll see.

Hi William, enjoyed your video.…questions: how many subscribers do you need in order to start monetizing? About how much $ can u get for the bare minimum in the first steps? Are you there already?
TH-cam requires you to have 1,000 subscribers and a total of 4,000 watch hours before they will approve you for monetization. How much money you can make on that bare minimum depends on how many views your videos get and the content of the videos, so it really depends. Having subscribers is not enough.... you need a lot of people people to watch your videos. For example, if you put out a video that gets 5,000 views and it's on a topic that advertisers will pay $4 per thousand views to watch, then you would earn 5 (because it is 5,000 views) times $4 for a total of $20 earned.

Would rather see a series of short videos on a topic then to commit 25 minutes or more, on a topic.
