I kinda just guessed before even finding the switch that some kind of change would happen. Also, isn't it actually harder the first time because you have to fight the elite?
I've been gaming since the NES era and I KNEW I was going to have to fight those guys at some point. At first I actually expected them to wake up as soon as I turned my back on one.
You know what would be cool? If there’s statues beyond this biome, buffing slumbering sanctuary with every chest being cursed and a GUARANTEED challenge room, making it the hardest biome of the game which will have a huge impact on the rest of the game because you will see the statues in the other biomes revive themselves as well.
@@april5054 Tbh it might just be because some people never got to the Slumbering Sanctuary. Friend of mine who played like 15 hours of dead cells never got the spider relic, so never got to see several of the areas.
@@MaterialBlade You dont need to get the spider rune to reach sanctuary, you just gotta beat conjunctavius and then you can get the spider rune FROM the sanctuary, right? I think that's what happens.

I just discovered this area for the first time. May be my build was good, I found it insanely fun instead of torturing. The OST just adds so much to the atmosphere. The whole area is creatively unique. This game is an art
It's my favorite area out of the whole game, it may not be that hard, but every time I go there it's just relaxation while vibing to the music and scenery. An even bigger plus btw is that you skip that damned village.
It’s fairly easy, especially if you have cc, but the GOLEMS. They WILL one shot combo falcon punch destroy you unless you have some kind of slow, stun, or something like phaser or wings

this has the same / similar wood creaking effect that "climbing the ginso tree" in Ori and the Blind Forest and I love that. This whole track is so much more ominous and intense than anything else in the game by far - especially when it hits the high points as the background opens up to huge unknown ruins.
I LOVE this track, and the synth guitar when it kicks into full gear is just… I can’t describe just how good it is, it feels like God composed this track himself because it is just THAT good.
1:41 - 3:10 is just so wonderful. The slow buildup, to the point where it cranks up about a minute later, synth-electric guitars going with the sitar sounding synth, the beat... got my head banging in pure enjoyment.
You just entered a mysterious sanctuary, you are far from the world you wanted to have, far from any friends. So you start your progression in this temple, when suddenly you encounter a switch in a isolated room, you turn it on, the walls start moving, you go out to see what hapenned then you see that all of the statues have taken life... So at 2:11, you start fighting for your life... A true masterpiece Iv'e played the game since its releasing and its by FAR the best ost iv'e ever heard in any video games.
Anyone else find this music to be fucking...inspiring!? The way the tempo picks up after you hit the switch at @01:41. The drumming and tempo at @02:35 just makes me want to run, rolll and smash through door in real life!
I wonder if the slumbering sanctuary used to be inhabited by the pagans that live in the fractured shrines. I mean, there's evidence that they were the original inhabitants of the island, with the king "forcing them out" and all. They were the caretakers of the sanctuary, and when the king exiled them, it fell into the ruined state we see it in today. The sap-stuff in the walls leaked into the sewers, spreading the malaise into the waters if the stilt village, ground zero of the infection. As for the statues, maybe they were explorers from the village who came in contact with the sap, and were transformed. After sometime, they fell into a comatose-like state as the statues, and would only be awoken by-reactivating the sanctuary. Of course, I could be dead wrong.
Hitting the switch for the first time and hearing the music ramp up might be the best musical catharsis I've heard in a game. And the fact that it happens so early in the level lets that intense feeling stick to you for a good while (assuming you don't die too soon!) This game's soundtrack is incredible.
Getting through Slumbering Sanctuary: 1. Bring a Shield and Parry. You're getting range spammed from all directions in the first half, a shield lets you pick and choose who dies first with minimal risks. 2. Stay away from Golems. And by 'away' I mean around an entire screen's length away and out of their line of sight! If they do spot you then you'll have to kill them by any means, and don't even think of running away. 3. RUN!!! The layout is the simplest of the 4th Stages with minimal bs so flip the switch and dash for the exit(s). No booby traps, no key fetch quests, just a series of hallways.
What I do against golems, if I have a good enough weapon, I tend to try to take them outright and beat them to death. If the weapon can't stun, then that means I'll simply have to jump and roll *a lot* while using skills.

It took me a 100 hours to realize that the Slumbering Sanctuary is inspired by the Temple of Akator in *Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull* .

This is not my favourite track in the game, but has my favourite part of the OST of the game, which is 2:12-2:36, the start gives me Gravity Falls vibes, but on the second half those EPIC EIGHTS COME OUT OF NOWHERE giving you the high point. One of the hardest biomes, but the coolest one by far. Thanks a lot for this OST.
It's just not the same when I'm not screaming in terror and going "nONONO-" at the sight of a 9tf tall golem barreling at me because I have a really good build going on

I torture myself going through this place, getting pounded over and over by those giant organ looking dudes, just to listen to this. There's something about the intermittent animalistic yelps that remind me of The Maven from path of exile, and that soundtrack is just perfect. Also the feeling of having waked up something unnatural really comes through with the electric guitar. With the natural string instruments dominating the rest of the game
By far the best track in the game!! It reminds me so much of the 80s cartoon, "The Mysterious Cities of Gold." The soundtracks are so similar with that wah-wah-wah-wah-wah sound. I pretty much always die when I come by were but it just love the damn music!!! ❤️
Kinda funny that beating one of the heaviest monsters gjves you the ability to float instead of something like a heavier and stronger ground slam power like telluric shock. I would have assumed the crows in Fractured shrines, or the Slammer to drop Wings of the crow. @@Marx_the_Jester

What if there was an enemy with a quick attack that hits the whole floor, that can teleport you to them, and obliterate over half of your health? wouldnt it be humorous

favorite biome of mine :) Golems are satisfactory targets for freeze and backstab :P It was a flow experience for the first time reaching the sanctuary (and clearing it in one go).
After I've played for over 90 hours and beaten the third hardest difficulty, I returned to the slumbering sanctuary and cleared it for the first time just now. Take that, golems!

Attention to detail here: if you set an alternative Castlevania soundtrack it'll play the clockwork mansion instead the blue part is the first stage then as soon as you push the switch it'll play the 2nd part

There were only two times that I went to the Slumbering Sanctuary. The first time was 0BC and I left with 145 HP left and nothing to heal me, the second one was also 0BC and it was when I tried getting back into Dead Cells and my save was at the beginning, I died to a golem the second I hit the button.

The true final boss saw golems and went: " I'LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK" and stole BOTH of their moves

What sucks is if your build doesn't have a heavy weapon. Heavy weapons, while slower than an elderly man, stun pretty well.
Remember guys the hard counter to the Golem is the Wolf Trap.

Kinda late but here's a tip for anyone struggling with the golems: dodge ALONG with their dash, don't dodge into it!

Serán los golems seguro, trata de usar torretas, armas a distancia o dales con todo. Una vez te enfrentes varias veces a ellos dejas de preocuparte tanto.
