She's surprisingly useful, if you buff her dodge and speed. Flashpowder to drop stealth, Fortifying Vapors to get people off of deaths door, Invigorating Vapors to give a team-wide dodge boost, and Nervous Stab to clean up stuff like Sycophants.
There are two reasons to play Darkest Dungeon:
1. It's a good game.
2. The fucking music, man. Atmospheric, majestic, mystical, and yet, neither heroic, nor encouraging. Just perfect.

Of all the soundtracks for this dlcs, and even including the base game, I think it's my favorite for the feeling it carries.
It make you realize the situation is indeed almost completely hopeless. You're killing ennemies again and again just for more to show up, and even if you manage to clear a full wave, it doesn't mean you're victorious: You just get to fight another day against the goons of a cosmic abomination for whom humanity is just a pest, and your elite mercenaries are barely a speck of dust in its huge eye, enough to stall it for maybe a moment, but what is a moment in that universe when the laws of time and physics are more a suggestion than the basis of the world they should be?
And yet you fight, you keep pushing forward with the futile hope that you will reach the end of this madness and eliminate those aberrations that should not exist by all logic once and for all.
And finally, by the end, when you pushed deep enough, the horrible truth hit you: You're not defending the human world against those anomalies. You and your men are the anomaly in this cosmic aberration.
It's one of my favourites as well.

Me: "Ceaseless Labor", that's a pretty neat name for an enemy attack. Ceaseless definitely isn't the most esoteric term in this game's writing, but it is still a nice word that I don't hear too often. I wonder what other moves this monster has.

Their sickly emerald refractions bring nothing but despair. Half-shattered monstrosities, alien enough to be unsettling while retaining enough of what they once were to be tragic. And the only promise they bring is of a bloodstained night without end, filled with the tortured shrieks of the damned and the broken cackling of madmen.
Truly, we need not adventurers. But survivors
Actually, that kind of explains the choice of adventurers for the art. The Antiquarian's eye for baubles is valuable against enemies of a crystalline disposition. The Occultist has already communed with and discovered things from the Abyss, so who else is better to research this new threat. And who better to smash things than the Bounty Hunter (well, perhaps the Man at Arms?) . Also, can you really make that madman any crazier? Plus, the guy has stress relief to keep everyone sane.

Anyways, this track feels much more “alien” than the other soundtracks, which is fitting. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I also hear a bit of the final dungeon’s track.
Sanguine And "Town in chaos", I think.
Makes sense since you effectively get thrown through "time and space", encountering enemies from the dungeons you've been through in the past

My guess is that the old guy decided to use the alien time warping crystals to rapidly age a variety of liquors.
I feel like this is the most tragic music that you have made in the whole game. Much less dark, but much sadder, the missing piece of tragedy that you composed with incredible talent, as usual.
I think it reflects the fact that the miller and his folks were, contrarily to most of the people dealing with the Ancestor, completely innocent. They were turned into husks for nothing, while all the other somewhat ended up paying the price of their deeds and/or hedonism.
As much as I love the early tracks you have composed for DD, the DLC soundtrack absolutely blows it out of the water. You've gotten so much more confident with your style and I cannot imagine playing the game without your music. Glad you were brought back on board for the sequel!

Brilliant as always, Mr. Stuart! While I still personally prefer "Town In Chaos", this definitely takes second place and is still amazing!

And once again the Master of one of my favorite game surprised me again with this magnificient soundtrack (I think I did over do it but who cares the soundtrack is awesome)

I really like the introduction of synth- / e-guitar sound in this track, a possible symbol of the stellar, alien, futuristic (?) nature of the new threat of this DLC. Great work!

It’s newfound servants till at our soil and souls, corrupting it with its influence and seeding its malicious intent. Those who were unfortunate enough to be turned had their forms twisted to a horrible parody similar to that of the agent from beyond.
From the very sawmill where the fabric of reality is torn at the seams, pours out every vile creature from every nightmarish kin aided by the unholy might of their masters, to face those who dare set foot upon the sleepers ever expanding territory. It seems almost if the abomination from the void is unstoppable, unmatched by any mortal being.
But they are no different. They will fall before you like those who had faced you previously. They will perish whether it be from a tip of a sharpened blade, the end of a blunderbuss, the corrosiveness of acidic concoctions, the eldritch incantations of dark deities, whatever weaponry you shall come to bear.
Whatever the means may be, you shall extinguish this infestation from the stars.”

Dear Stuart, I read from a game review video that you and your lawyers worked hard to release TH-cam commentators from copyrights restrictions so that they could create content about DD freely. Huge respect for you and most certainly hope to continue to count on your talents in DD2!
This has such a unique sound compared to other games, its not just because the game itself is different but the music also, excellent job on giving us players a formidable, unique, setting.

Man the heroes of darkest dungeon have a lot in common with the SCP foundation, they cannot trully break the tide of horrors, they cannot put the abominations from the deep forever to rest. All they can do is let the world continue existing just one more day. Containing the horrors, not defeating them. Securing the darkest state, not reclaiming it. Protecting those beyond its walls, but never trully keeping them safe.

This piece and "Dark Mitochondria" are probably the best music compositions I have ever heard in any videogame (three decades of gaming and not slowing down lol). Even when the gameplay gets boring the music still makes playing worthwile. It's amazing how well you capture the sensation of slowly going insane while valiantly trying to hold on to your withering humanity during the final epic battles. Hats of to you sir!
You could play this in an office full of 50 year old tax accountants and everyone would immediately grab their swords, pistols and axes to charge into the void. Top notch.

I think this is my favourite OST from Darkest Dungeon.
This song has such a... severity. Powerful, yet almost melancholic. It also has this subtle, otherworldly quality - I especially appreciate that it is subtle and not the whole focus of the song.
Fittingly, it feels like an endless barrage of monsters thrown your way, weathered and beaten you hope for an end, yet there is no such thing in sight...
Incidentally, the song is perfect to work on an arduous task.
This ost also describes how you struggle to fight your way to the very end. Like all of your units have low hp and yet there are enemies still coming. It's just so powerful
This one sounds strangely heroic. Like a desperate kind of heroism. Fighting against eldritch horrors beyond anyone's understanding. Hopeless. Yet continuing to fight on.

Man, I absolutely love that each track in DD has some sort of emerging heroic theme, that gets drowned by the overarching track. Like at 2:05 you can hear a new theme trying to grow, just to be destroyed by the alien "peupeupeupeu"

I don't know if you knew all about the DLCs story and that made you create such emotionally accurate pieces of music that describe the story perfectly, or maybe they just told you something very plain like "hey it's about time and space being convoluted and teriffying". In any case, you hit the spot 100% on this one.
Also I've just realised I've been listening to your music since I was a kid, because I played both prince of persia sands of time and warrior within, the soundtrack in there was outstanding too!

The thing I love about the Color of Madness OST is the fact that It goes from Upbeat Combat to Song of sadness really quickly down the line. That, and how out of place it is to the rest of the OSTs.

I'm curious, every other song in the game fits the atmosphere or setting (town in chaos = a burning village, Court = violin mosquitoes buzzing, Darkest dungeon = heartbeat of the new god, Warrens = war drums of the swine) The overall music in COM seems to have a sadder tone... which makes me think this is the last DLC for the game? But still the new music is phenomenal!

I really don't know how the algorithm brought me, but because of this I started playing DD a few weeks ago, between the game mechanics, the story and the OST it has, it's in the top of my favorite games, Stuart Chatwood is brilliant in his work.❤
