Ever noticed how the pacing of the song resembles the one of the prisoner's quarters? I once noticed that when I had to pause the game and then, after returning, I was like "Wait, why is the prisoner's quarters' theme playing? I remember I left off on the castle!" That's when it hit me, it's the same song, only with different instruments amd different overall "feeling"
it actually has rearrangements of different songs from all around if you pay close attention to it, I don't remember the song that is used in the beginning but 1:45 has a bit of the temple, 2:15 is some clock tower, 2:45 is prisoner quarters, 3:47 is black bridge
not me with a frost blast + nutcracker + frost shield + frostbite + armadillo pack combo. I just freeze everyone as soon as they get near me and one shot them 😂 just go all in on freezing enemies and you become a god for the most part as long as you take things slowly.
First time I entered the castle I was like "this is it..." And the music made me feel like "you are gonna be in pain but you are gonna love it" Thanks for these awesome musics !
I adore this this theme as it perfectly encapsulates the feelings of royalty, and pride. This is the last dungeon before the """""final"""""" boss of the game, and I feel as though all of my actions leading up to this said moment have meaning. Perfectly executed!
This theme really gives off “the final step” vibes before taking on the ultimate challenge. It has a hint of the prisoner’s quarters theme, reminding you of how far you’ve come, and reminding you that you will die yet again. Man, I absolutely love this game, even if it is unreasonably brutal to you
I found out i have only died twice in the castle, and that wouldn't be that impressive... but i actually finished the game on 5BC, and i think the reason i have a lot less deaths in later areas than in starting ones is just the determination i have of finishing the game, i have died like 200 times in prisoner's quarters, but dying there is kinda meaningless. However, as you go along you get progress with every area you go through, and so dying becomes a bigger deal, so on the last areas i am fully concentrated on not dying and getting a massacre done well in the last few zones, and this song perfectly portrays that.
Easily the best song on this entire OST. I purposefully take my time in the castle to let this play out. IMO, 2:47 is the best part, it just has that cheerful but determined energy, like you're hacking and slashing your way through the castle, so close to completing your mission.
Idc if I'm late lol 2:29 is my favourite part because it really symbolises that this is a true challenge and that there's no turning back... ...until that elite slasher combos you...
Something about instruments used is so powerful with this song here. You do not even need to play the game to feel the raw emotion and see the castle, it's all here. The grandeur of the massive halls, the vain nature of the king, the danger presented by the guardsmen still keeping intruders out long after death, the fast footsteps of the beheaded racing through the halls, running along the final stretch before the king. This has to be one of the best pieces, if not the best, in the entire soundtrack.
You step forward out of a dark room, blinded by the sharp reflections off of diamond-white walls. No, your journey is not yet over, and it isn't safe here. The frantic pounding of guardsmen boots upon the castle floors is still audible, and they'll be coming here soon. You can't let them stop you. You're so close. Just one more step.
That feeling when you get a good rub with nice items and manage to make a super effective and fun build? And this playing while you tear through enemies at the speed of sound? Yeah, I live for that shit. Man, I love this game
I refuse to skip High Peak Castle after the Giant boss fight, it's my favorite level not only for the music but for the sheer adrenaline this area makes me feel also because I need to recover HP for HotK without using my flask charges :/
Getting to the castle, finally reaching the end, whether that be your first time, or one of hundreds, always fills you up with such determination, as the best thought you could ever have comes into your brain: *"I fucking made it"* And the music just fits that perfectly
I don't know why, but this music brings out the feeling of "This is it. Welcome the the climax of your adventure." Maybe it's because I KNOW that it's the final normal level. Idk.

Though it's definitely not as action packed sounding and not all osts sound like that in game, Hollow Knight has a pretty similar style with SOME of its songs
This is just such a good final track. The audio stingers at the beginning, the reused leitmotifs, instruments and even sound effects give this song some genuine weight behind it.
Theory: Can there be another island in the game? Let me explain, In the title screen (bottom left) there's a grass patch that can be seen, like in the image of this video, the Beheaded is over that patch, how he got there, and what he made it all the way to the in-game island? After thinking on that, I theorized that after beating the 5BSC final boss a Secret Area at the Stilt Village or a Secret NPC can lead us in a boat or ship to the other Island, where we could continue our adveture. Obviously this is not real, i hope it could be. Also sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.
If this is going by in-game locations, I'm pretty sure the Beheaded is standing on the prison area - the Black Bridge is the area that takes you to the "other island", so to speak. You can see the makings of a port area (Stilt Village) on the other island.
@@Eltrotraw No port on the image, but a ship can be seen. And if the beheaded can see the in-game island from there. He in the in-game island can see the "other island".
@@gilberton.4320 There isn't an area in the game before Stilt Village that gives you a view of another island aside from the Ramparts (all the way to the right most end of the top area) and Black Bridge. Because this central island we're looking at is alluding to containing the entire second half of the game since we can see Stilt Village, Clock Tower, and High Peak Castle, this means that this first island we see the Beheaded on has to be the starting area(s) of the game. This matches up with the lore too, since the prison warden was ordered by the King to keep the prisoners from escaping, and that there were only a few ways to escape from said prison. An island prison isn't too far of a stretch to consider when a large chunk of the early game areas are taking place in this very prison.
The first time you enter the castle, you simply can't believe how good the music of the game is lol. What had been an after thought up to that point becomes the focus, and you understand how the pressure and difficulty rises with the theme, it's epicness depicting your sweat after possibly many runs that had ended prematurely, but now... Notice to myself and anyone who reads this, DO NOT pick the distillery, its stupid, and besides, you won't be able to hear this banger. P.S. Heres some other things about the run i remember: 2 BSC stats were 7,5,15 im pretty sure nearly 15K HP health fountain and mutation limit settings were enabled from custom mode (IDC a single bit about achievements or shame of using cheats in singleplayer games) ....and that's about all i can remember, welp, that's it from me...
