    Very well done! I have been wanting to purchase a 500w pure sine wave inverter and had it narrowed down to this one and another one. It was interesting to find out that the usb port is live even when the unit is powered off. The reason for the ground fault is that there is no earth ground. If you short the neutral to the ground line, it will not show a fault. I'm guessing that the one in your truck shorts the neutral to ground internally. You can check it with a multimeter. But there is no reason to short them. This is an isolated circuit. Thanks for the video.

      Neutral port? Is that the negative at d back of the inverter sir?

    • @vinniec5286
      @vinniec5286 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@apptesterako8853 No sir, the neutral is the white wire to the back of the 110/120 outlet, or, on the front of the outlet, it is the longer of the two slots for power. There is the hot (black) and neutral or return (white). If you put an AC meter across the neutral and ground slots in the outlet, there should be zero (or next to zero) volts. What I have heard explained in other videos is that the guy shorted the neutral to ground on the back side of the AC outlet (not the DC wires at all).

    There's been some great reviews on the Bestek 300w pure sine wave but I was looking into getting wither this 500w or the 1000w pure sine wave inverter. Though your test did gave me some confidence this 500w may be enough,. thanks for the Vid test.

    -- Just bought the 500. Cell, tablets, laptops etc. Seems that keeping these things around 320 watts, normally would be fine. Good to see it'll work in a pinch. Recharge is really the goal, not running. Understand if people want more. Thumbs up.

  • @Syncere20
    @Syncere20 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes you should send it back to the factory and tell them that the inverter likes running loads more than it should. And that it works too efficiently there must be something wrong with it.

    nice Mike, I just purchased this to replace an older inverter I used to power my air pump for my zodiac that just shat the bed tonight so this unit is coming tomorrow. I'll connect it straight to the truck battery for inflation and call it a day in 8 minutes :) What is the voltage monitor device you have there you're using model ? that's excellent.

  • @stphinkle

    Some inverters use a different output scheme and this is why the ground test may read weird. Many inverters use live neutral. Some even are 2 60 output circuits and out of phase. Then your load connects them in series to form 120V. This is especially common on modified sine wave and non-isolated units without a hard wire options.

    Oh wow, I have the same Valence 12v Lifepo4 battery and is trying to do the same as you are to have solar input and ac well, I was also checking out the battery monitor you have there because I love the bright digital display it has, but I didn't know it has wireless capabilities too, so awesome. Can you please add those 2 links units in the back of your power box to your listing for me? Something to try is with a grounded new male plug ,join the neutral and the ground with 14 guage wire, plug it in one of the 2 outlets, this works on power banks for mobile trailers so their electronics see a ground .

      no the fan is on when the inverter is on, and nothing is plugged in. I have the inverter in a DIY solar generator/power station. The way it is mounted, I can't get the the built in on/off switch. So I have it connected to a breaker that I can flip off when not in use

    • @MikeJordanUnCamplicated
      @MikeJordanUnCamplicated  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would "think so". I was trying to find the limits of the 500w. I was impressed. I have never had a issue with it the years since I made the video, but I have never really taxed like I did in the video. If I needed to run 550w consistently, I think I would go to 750ish watts

    When connected to a car battery, does the inverter still drain power while in the off positiion? Or does it still need a battery kill switch to totally disconnect the cirtuit?

    • @MikeJordanUnCamplicated
      @MikeJordanUnCamplicated  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If the inverter is on, it does pull just under an amp. With the inverter completely off, it does not draw anything. I installed a circuit breaker for overload protection of the inverter and circuit. It has a manual reset switch. When I first installed the inverter in my truck, I would turn the circuit breaker off also. But after the first few times, I forgot. No issues as long as the inverter is off.

    • @MikeJordanUnCamplicated
      @MikeJordanUnCamplicated  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a limit to everything. Just depends on use. In my truck I use my inverter to run/charge laptops, drone batteries, tool batteries, etc. I've powered a few other odds and ends. But nothing for very long. I have never killed my battery. But that would be possible with longer higher amps usage

    At what point does the fan on the inverter turn on or is it on all the time

    • @MikeJordanUnCamplicated
      @MikeJordanUnCamplicated  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fan is on all of the time the inverter is on. The fan ramps up for high load heat and then back down, but it is always on. At about 4minutes I discuss that, and you can see the load the fan and inverter circuitry pulls in stand-by

    if you add a ground would the constant fan stop?

    • @MikeJordanUnCamplicated
      @MikeJordanUnCamplicated  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never tried. I assume from the functionality, the fan operates on power draw and not temp. But that's an assumption. Add a ground how? And then how would that ground stop the fan?

    • @MikeJordanUnCamplicated
      @MikeJordanUnCamplicated  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A starting car battery is not designed for that type of discharge. You would need a deep cycle marine type battery. Then you would do the math based on the wattage of the batt
