@@NeilBarratt I got rid of my TV years ago as the vast majority of programmes on all channels had hit rock-bottom and as I was only watching three BBC TV programmes a week, I got rid of my TV, since when I genuinely only watch what I chose on TH-cam, but it never stopped the TV licencing wallers sending me letter after letter demanding to come to my address to check I could not watch TV, I finally sent them a letter telling them if they got a search warrant and came round with a police officer, then they could come and look all they liked and if not, they could park their detector van outside my house 24 hours a day, seven days a week as I would not risk my hard-earned army pension to watch a few programmes, as not having a TV licence is a criminal offence, which it should not be but if I was stupid enough to watch TV without a licence and was convicted, I could lose my army pension, the rest of their programmes in my opinion, would insult the intelligence of a set of mess tins on top of an ever-increasing number of repeats both on radio and TV, so I was no longer prepared to pay just to watch an ever decreasing number of programmes and the only thing I ever listen to now on Greater Manchester Radio is the news and a few programmes on Radio 4.
If people keep paying, they'll keep charging. The only way to get anywhere is to stop paying your licence. Don't even tell them and throw the ridiculous letters in the bin. It's literally as easy as that. Anyone still paying is condoning what they are doing.

They will also use the opportunity to find out whether you have any TVs or things capable of receiving the signal, what you do use them for, and then ask if it's okay for them to come around and check you are telling the truth. Most of the stuff from BBC is made by BBC Studios, which is a separate part of the BBC, a part which is fully commercial selling their content worldwide and on subscription channels. If the BBC go under, the programmes will appear elsewhere and will still be funding BBC Studios.

I stopped watching TV a few years ago, then moved to a place of my own and said no thanks to the licence. When I moved in, the previous tenant had disappeared. None of the utilities got in touch - I had to track them down. The first letter from any service was from the BBC, covered in red writing, threatening The Occupier that if they were caught watching a TV without a licence they could be fined £1000 and face criminal charges. Ridiculous.

I cancelled my TV licence tax 18 months ago and haven’t look back and haven’t missed the woke agenda.
With Hue Edwards, the BBC actually gave him a pay rise after he was removed from the front line news reading! The paid him £250K and he has to pay it back but there is no time frame for him to do so!
The BBC are equally complicit as they sit on scandals as frequently as they sit on the loo!!!!
I could be wrong but I've heard from a few sources that the BBC paid for Huw Edwards to have very expensive mental health care at the exclusive private health clinic of the Priory following some of the allegations against him coming out. Surely this expenditure was a misuse of BBC funds?

I will never tire of saying this: I am (still) glad that I canceled my tv licence, and do not fear the jumped up jobsworths/goons who work at Capita/TVL. Do not fear any of them.

They're having to advertise the TV license now as if it's a subscription and not a tax because so many people are cancelling.

Most of the stuff from BBC is made by BBC Studios, which is a separate part of the BBC, a part which is fully commercial selling their content worldwide and on subscription channels. If the BBC go under, the programmes will appear elsewhere and will still be funding BBC Studios.
