- £400 Difference...CLEAR Winner?! Srixon ZX4 v Takomo 101T - In this video we put to the test the age old test of DOES Price Matter. We put the Srixzon ZX4s to the test against this mid handicappers Takomo 101T!! Does prices dictate your decision or is it all about Performance!!
yes, but you can't demo the Takomos. How do you know what your spec is or whether they will fit you? in the thumbnail you have shown the ZX5 btw. The ZX5 is a better comparison with the 101T imo. the ZX4 is more akin to the regular 101.
I just built my 101T set. If you want to get fit, buy the heads, get fit for P770s and then use those, or similar shafts.
Thanks for doing this video! I have been looking at both these irons for next year. After watching Dave’s results I’m leaning to the Takomo irons.
I’ve got the Takomo 101’s and I love them!! Can’t beat their value for money!
Seems like Dave as a lower swing player is better suited for higher lofted and higher spinning irons. Maybe the ZX5 would have been a better test. Great that Dave continues to confirm his choice with the 101t irons.
I agree I think it would have been better to test against them or maybe p770
The problem with his flight on the zx4's is simply just his swing speed. These suit a mid handicapper, but you do need a reasonable swing speed. Distance is unreal in the Srixon, but the stronger lofts are obviously helping with that
It would be interesting to see Dave’s Takomo against Mizuno Hot Metal 923 especially with fitted shafts - could produce distance due to strong lofts and launch to give landing angles. Good to see Dave try a 7 wood.
I bought the 101 and fitted them afterwards to my specs, loving them
Even for a potential £400 saving I would never buy a set of irons without a fitting. I would always be wondering if they were truly the right club. Last week, I went for a fitting and tried 5 different models with 3 different shafts. I was surprised how different various combos felt and for me that’s worth 400 quid spread over hopefully years of usage. BTW, I settled on P790’s with a light steel shaft.
what do you shoot? i travel often and play with rentals and still manage to shoot in the 80s. fitting doesn't really matter if you have a good swing.
@@OrvinReyes my swing is ok, but a little on the slow side hence I was getting better results with the light steel shaft. I play off 14 and will usually be in the low to mid 80’s. Once the weather gets warmer my plan this year is to get into single figures.
Would love to see Dave give a 9 wood a go. Maybe on driver he can try out the higher spin and higher lofted ones. Maybe something in 12 degrees and a design that can enhance the spin.
Been watching you for ages via James Robinson. Think you’ve missed a trick going the advertising route, great personality and a decent player. More golf, coffee and misery please😂❤
I was fitted for irons earlier this year and after trying several brands including Srixon and different shafts i couldn't believe the difference in feel and performance between each one theres no way I'd buy clubs again without being fitted
So which irons did you end up with?
@@mlinder2000 I ended up with Callaway Paradyms with graphite shafts
Just bought my 101t irons, I think this is going to be the start of something beautiful 😍
I like my PXG 0211XCOR2’s! Don’t plan on changing anytime soon!
Just bought a set of takomos 101T, had them custom fit to my spec of 1 deg upright which is what I have been for my last two sets being Mizuno and Ping. Not used the new irons as yet so they are sat in the garage waiting to be christened!!
How did they turn out?
@@robmccIII I’ve got a bad back and not playing enough to give them a fair chance at the min. I’m using the 4 & 5 iron though and they are really nice
Think the Callaway B21 driver, 3 or 5 wood would suit Dave, very forgiving and the fairway woods have a similar profile to the Pings. Dave was right to go for the Tacomo irons, they deliver for him, and as a true Yorkshire man, saved him a huge chunk of cash.
I never buy the current years models, there is always bargains to be had in “last years models” I recently had my first ever fitting and at the age of 60 was fitted into a 6.0 shaft instead of 5.5 which I’d always played and it’s made a massive difference
Maybe a dumb question but he said he hit the 101s left. Is that a thing with bigger game improvement irons? Asking because I have game improvement irons and I pull them left hard.
From what I could see, Dave hit the Takomo 101T better. More loft and less offset and smaller profile may be better for him.
My mate fits Srixon, Ping and Taylor Made.
Everyone should get fitted , Sirixon will hold their value better in the long run I think
I’d get the Srixon’s simply you can get fitted.
Playing off 8 and trying to decide between Caleys & Takomos. What would you suggest? Thanks
Get a Wilson dyna power driver if you can or the cobra
What about Inesis?
As some putters are now ££££££ would be good to see an average golfer putt with a cheap v expensive putter .
Terrible post …you can tell Takomo are in their bags 😂 . The Srixon ZX5 is a direct comparison and are far better clubs and I’d still rather have the feel of the new ZX4’s than the 101t’s . Tokomo’s are unbelievable for the money but if they were the same price you’d never pick them up. The CB’s are probably the best value on the market but do mark up very easily
Well done Chris and dave 👍 😊
I take zx5 mark 2 any day of week over takimo.
Just a shame you can't try before you buy the Takomos.
Go for a fit, get the Srixons….
What weight are the shafts in Daves irons
I think I saw KBS Tour Lite Regular mentioned. That would be 95 grams.
Might as well get me to review these
