    I have been struggling with my faith for years, and the past year my borderline personality disorder has gotten so bad that I need guidance. I have felt a connection with jesus and god, but recently I’ve been (kind of sneakily, lol) praying to mother Mary and it is so amazing. I told god that if I don’t feel his presence in church tomorrow, I will go to Mary. Your video showed me that in paganism and Wicca you can have any god or goddess you want, and that’s so liberating. Thank you

    You don’t know how bad I needed to see this video right now. My depression and anxiety has been terrible for the last year and I’ve lost connection with any sort of divinity because of it. Thank you for inspiring me to get back on the horse spiritually.

    When I started this path I came across you and I've always found depth and comfort in your videos. I made massive changes in my life and had to leave my practise to do these things. This video has felt like a warm nudge in all the right places. Beautiful work as always Kelly-Anne, thanks!

    Yes, people have got to butt out from other's spirituality. The whole preaching about how to find balance is annoying because it won't ever be the same for different individuals. In this life my path is very focused on the sacred feminine and if it doesn't bother me, why would someome else be bothered... ;) Thank you for sharing this, loved it!

      @Tarot by Ania I'm pagan and I know that the Goddess is very much apart of the pagan community, but my path is very much focused on the divine masculine than feminine. Plus, my path is more Spirit and spirits rather than deity. Blessings (:

      I'd prefer to work ONLY with goddesses, but now and then a god pulls at me a little (like Ganesh) so it's funny because I don't feel at all bad for not having "balance" but I feel like I'm tarnishing my own ideological purity when I deal with male deity. I certainly don't do it for "balance" however, or some feeling of lack of male energy. I just happen to like their energy and what they represent. In fact, if someone wanted to make a female ganesh. Figure I'd probably eat that up.

    My space for Hela is setup the same duality way with dried roses, skull charms, and a hand made and painted statue of her right in the middle! For more than a year and a half, she has always been there, even if it involved the extremely cruel yet honest truth. One thing I will always remember her piercing my soul with was," Child, you can kick, scream, cry, be stupid, annoying, and pathetic, but I am here for YOU and YOU WILL make this path through! DO NOT EVEN TRY to run away from me, you have an obligation here and YOU ARE GOING TO DO IT!" She came at my lowest and I know she is always ready to come out of no where and improve myself.Lastly, I am thankful for how protective she is and she has defiantly come out of no where when a being was not being friendly and, well, "LISTEN HERE TWAT..." Xoxo

    I have the strongest relationship with Brighid and St. Francis speaks to me at times, but I have trouble connecting with The Morrighan. I think I have a fear of her because she pushed me through a very dark time. It almost felt like she and Brighid were good cop/bad cop there for a while. I need that bad cop voice, that strong battle queen in my corner. Now that I've made it thru the shit it feels so strange to come back to her, but I know I need to for balance. This video was super helpful for that.

    Your practice sounds so rich and interesting, thank you so much for sharing! I love the idea of using tarot to commune with a specific deity. When I draw cards I am more accustomed to thinking of it as communion with "the cosmos" in general or maybe with my own subconscious, but I've never drawn cards with the intention of communicating with a specific God or Goddess and I find this especially fascinating and intriguing. I'm a little thrilled with that idea, and can't wait to try it myself! By the way, I receive a lot of comfort and wisdom from your videos, sometimes I just play them in the background and I feel like I have a friend in the room. Again, thank you so much, your videos are just what I need on gloomy, yucky days when I need inspiration or encouragement. You're wonderful! I hope you continue with your work on TH-cam and on your site for many many years to come.

      I actually have a specific deck (pocket size edition of the Tarot of Pagan Cats) that I use to communicate with Bast and it's fantastic! She's very clear and direct to me, and the small size means I can pull cards easily almost anywhere and also shuffle very quickly if I go through most of the deck during a conversation with Her, which happens sometimes.

    • @DarthRayj

      I do think it's important to make sure the particular entity is okay with using a given deck, as I feel like some wouldn't be good matches.

    The first vid of yours that I watched that talked about deities gave me the idea to research goddesses for prosperity. I found Lakshmi and also I googled Native American animal totems for prosperity. I put a picture of Lakshmi on my Apple watch face and I found a Doreen Virtue deck that had her also. I'm going to make an altar and feature this card. Thank you for the great ideas! I tend to take people's ideas and run in my own direction. I hope you don't mind. -Barbara

    02:51 really cracked me up. 😂 Tell it to 'em, Kelly-Ann! But seriously, thank you for making this video. After a little draught, I've been getting those warm, fuzzy, safe feelings with Persephone more often lately, like you described. If I carve out some juicy Goddess time, I feel that I'm exactly on the right path. Channeled writing has been a blast and joy for me lately. It's incredible what weirdness comes through sometimes, strange languages and all! 😌

    This is interesting. Since I was a teenager, just starting to learn about the craft, witchcraft and ritual work, spirituality and also working with diety, I actually felt like I can work only with Goddess. I always felt this way and it never changed. I always felt like I need Goddess in my life, I never gave her a name but felt the urge to pray to her, think about her and always come back to her when needed. When I had sacred spaces or little atlars, I always had them dadicated to Goddess. I never really connected to masculine God. Don´t know why but it´s the way I feel. I´m happy that it´s not only me who feels this way. Don´t get me wrong, I thing it great to have harmonious relationship with feminine and masculine... but... I could never connect and work with God or masculine being. It´s always Goddess for me.

    I'm very intrigued by Hel and would like to start exploring her energy, but I'm a bit lost as to how to go about making that initial contact? Thus far in life, I have related to Lilith the most, but I don't think I intentionally 'chose' her like this?
    On the polar opposite side, I have been musing Echo a lot throughout the last year or two; although she's not a goddess per se, the energy throughout her tragic story in the Greek myths strikes a chord with me and she just keeps coming up in my life, so I adopted her as a guide on the side and see what lesson is in that for me.
    I love that you don't enforce the 'masculine' energy like, seemingly, everyone else does. I'm really a pantheist and I struggle to get a grip on that gendered look on what to me really is one source energy. Amongst male gods, the Egyptian gods Anubis and Ra have been of the most interest for me; but it's an entirely different thing than with Lilith who I feel a personal connection to. Finding a >male< god just for the sake of finding one hasn't worked, I don't see why I 'should' in the first place. For a while I wondered if I had some sort of spiritual problem because I kept running into sources insisting that a male god is somehow vital for my path to work out.

    This video was so easy to relate to and so inspiring. I have been working with Holle ( a Germanic goddess, also known as Mother Holle) for a very long time now and I have a on and off relationship with Mother Mary. Together they respresent almost every aspect of the Divine Feminine to me. Yet in the centre of my altar I have a large white candle for "Dear Goddess" as well. I love your idea to use specific decks for each goddess. I will try to figure out if this could work for me too.
    Hugs

    Fascinating, thank you so much for sharing!! I absolutely agree that everyone should do what works for them. After all, who am I to say that "the way you do it is wrong"?? I have six deity images on my altar at the moment, but I pray and connect with two of them most of the time. One of them is female and the other male, but that's because I feel I need their particular energies and it works for me at the moment. I'm still searching my way, I myself am changing all the time, so I don't know how my altar will look like in a year. How could I tell others "you should have this and that on your altar"?

    Kelly-Ann, I've recently been exploring my Irish Catholic side and becoming interested in the Holy Mother as well, even though I don't normally connect with personified deity at all. I would love it if you could do a video focused on Irish Catholic stuff and its potential for workings outside of the church. I was wondering around a Catholic bookstore recently, it was frankly a very shadowy place for me, because I kept finding booklets and little cards espousing views that I feel are oppressive, mostly about the regulation of women's bodies. I'm really interested in how you navigate the light and shadow of Catholicism in your work.

    This was very interesting, thankyou for sharing. I used to work with divine goddess but oddly enough, the last 7 ish months I've just been working with spirit more undefined, the universe, source etc. And if I've done goddess work it's been as an archetype more than a representation of Divinity if that makes sense. .. I'm not sure if I miss the Divinity connection that is more grounded. Anyway thankyou again for sharing I think I need to journal on this :) blessed be Kelly

    Thank you for talking about it being okay to just work with the Goddess and having 2 cosmic mothers. That has really resonated with me because it has been so difficult for me to connect to a God or even muster up interest to work with a God.
    I love the Sun and my Son. These are the two male energies that I have interest in working with.
    The Sun, I have been working with his energy for a ling time but that stemmed from working with the moon goddess first. That is the extent of my desire to work with Gods.
    Like men in life... I find it hard to trust the male dieties as well.

    Tbh as a trans person i dislike the entire notion of the "divine masculine" and the "divine feminine" in general, it seems so limiting

    • @kelly-annmaddox
      @kelly-annmaddox  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I can totally see how it is limiting for some but it has been really important for me and many others. It is still a valuable model but it's sad when it's the only model that is pushed/promoted or accepted as the norm. There is so much more to choose from and that is amazing. But frankly, I have had people telling me that I personally shouldn't work with the Fem/Masc duality because it is limiting, but that is not my story - my spirituality is about me and my needs, not anyone else. I would never expect someone who feels alienated by the concept to utilise it, but it has been great for me on a personal level, especially in helping me come to terms with my feelings about men, my history of abuse etc, as well as helping me think more about what my journey as a woman has meant from my perspective.

    • @cthrugrl
      @cthrugrl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kelly-Ann Maddox I apologize if my comment was worded in the wrong way, I think it's totally great and okay for you or anyone else to incorporate it into your practice. Thank you for being so open-minded and insightful!

    • @kelly-annmaddox
      @kelly-annmaddox  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, not at all, honey, you worded it fine.
      I have taken flack for the fem/masc duality thing before but I'm not saying that you are one of those people or anything. I was basically making a point about how people have a tendency to rile against archetypes/concepts which feel exclusionary or alienating without taking into account how medicinal they might be in someone else's personal practice - essential, even. But I hope I didn't come across as making any assumptions about your point of view, and yes, it's important to mention how the concept makes you feel just as it's important for me to state that it makes me feel very different.
      I think I can be a bit reactionary when the topic of fem/masc duality and its problematic nature is brought up sometimes. Some people want to abolish focus on fem/masc duality whereas I feel that this is just as dogmatic and destructive as the idea that it's the only way.. I want more choices and more concepts and more discussions, but I don't want anyone to tell me to throw away what's important to me. Sorry if I came off snappy. I'm going to make a video about this whole thing but I keep putting it off because it's a hot button issue!

    • @gingerblue
      @gingerblue 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think gender can be a lot like race- it would be ideal if we could just erase all the boundaries and just be “people”, but after centuries of opression and shame and a society that is still very much patriarchal, I think for a lot of people it’s important that we have a moment and a space when/where we can sort of revel in those parts of ourselves. I hope this makes sense- I mean no disrespect.
