    I have to commend you for the detailed and thoughtful comparison! The spider chart you created to evaluate the different factors was a great touch and really helps to visualize the strengths and weaknesses of each rangefinder. I fully agree with your assessment of the devices, as I’ve also had the chance to test one of them on my own channel. Specifically, I reviewed the Vector X, although my review is in German since my channel focuses on the German-speaking firearms community. It’s always interesting to see how others approach similar products from different angles. Keep up the fantastic work - your analysis is spot on!

    Thanks for taking the time to this review. I've had a pair of Sig 10k's for about 3 yrs. I use them mainly for hunting, especially prairie dog hunting. They have been serviceable for me, but not impressive. In low light they are disappointing. This review was very timely as I am now shopping for something better. You showed me a couple of models I didn't know existed. Thanks for your time and help.

    Leica also has the pro track and theirs will work without cell coverage unlike the swaro that drops the map once cell coverage is lost. You do have to down load the map for the area you’re hunting if hunting out of cell service but you still maintain full topo maps. I simply highlight the area I’m going to hunt and it downloads to my phone simple.

    Just watched this during my lunch break. I'm not sure if you have a different price perspective, but it is my understanding the Swarovski EL Range TA 10x42 is $3999, not $3499 (10x32 are $3499).
    As an EL Range TA 42 owner, I can confirm your assessment is pretty spot on. However, I can attest that at least with centerfire, the Swaro in-house ballistic calculator with the onboard environmental sensors has been dead on accurate for elevation drop out in NRL Hunter matches.
    I will say I'm probably going to shell out for the Vector X to try out. If I like the glass and I feel it is not detrimental for my eyes, I will likely switch out from the EL Range (as I already have NL Pure for non ranging use).

    • @area419
      @area419  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      For the Sig, Vortex and Swaro we did a quick online shopping loop and found the best price from a “major” retailer. Vortex because their MSRP is irrelevant, Sig because they have these units broadly selling at reduced price. The Swaro w TA is also being sold right now for $3,500 on Midway.
      The other three are new enough the prices seem to kind of be what they are.
      And with the Swaro solver, we didn’t expect anything but accuracy. AB Elite is definitely a tested, proven, and well known name brand, though there are a lot of options that produce great results.
      We think you’ll like the Vectors, but if you don’t, let us know!

    I love that the Vectronix have an etched reticle, but what a bummer that they put the center of it at 5 mils. Confuses my brain, you would think that the center of your reticle would be 0,0. Thankfully they have another version with a simplified reticle version that doesn’t have this issue (although it lacks detail) 11:04

    • @area419
      @area419  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So the etched aiming reticle is obviously 0/0 but I think the reticles for sizing are trying to get max H/W range. It's something I'd not really considered though, there is some oddity to it, being a T that's marked like an L

    One glaring hole in this is the lack of ranging. How accurate are they? What is their actual ranging ability compared to the advertised range? If the Fury HD 5000 say they can range out to 5,000 yards, can they? Or do they drop off at 2,000 yards? I'd like to see this for all of them. Are the advertised limits accurate and who's yankin' our meat?

    • @rfcdgaf

      They're not interested in doing a scientific test, it requires a substantial investment in testing equipment, and time to make it objective. A retailer will just give you easy to make subjective, ok cool ranges good type videos like this.

    One of the biggest things that these reviews leave out is warranty, especially with anything electronic. If these companies are gonna charge $2-4k then wareanty needs to be discussed. Revic only has a 2 yr. Warranty......are you F'ing kidding me? Sig is only 5 yr. from date of Mfg. And they are the only ones that have that date. Then you have Swaro & Vector X 3 year on electronics.....$3-4k for 3 year warranty. Leica atleast does 10 yr. Which I believe is fair. Quite frankly if you can't gurantee me more than 3 yrs on your premium product then thats pretty dang sorry and worthless, i dont care how cool the tech is or its "X" factor.

    I loved this review, it was very thorough. I have used many of these products and would agree with everything said. I have not used the new Vector X since it is not even available yet but it definitely looks like a winner. Sig has released their new Gen2 Kilo 10 which has significantly improved on the glass and made some other cool upgrades which addresses some of the concerns with the original 10K's. I would love to see an update that includes the newer version of the 10K because I think the tech side of the 10K is the closest thing to what is described on the Vector X range finder. Sig has also added dedicated wind buttons that will make entering wind data much easier. The price point on the new 10K's is closer to the the Vector X price point so that is also a change the overall score.

      Sig knew this video was being done, and then dropped their Gen 2 just days after this video was released. We would have LOVED to have included it. Revic reached out and made sure we had their new item, wish Sig would have done the same. VERY thin odds on this being updated or redone.

I am a Strelok fan and found the Sig app in the hand held rangefinder to be off at 450 yards, same with a couple other ballistic apps I have tried. I think you short changed the Revic on the tech side. I own the Leicas, and have used the Swarovski, and Sig LRF binoculars. I then bought the Revic brl10b and it blows every one of them out of the water. And in my opinion you should throw out the x-factor portion because that is purely subjective. Thank you for the review! These are expensive and tough decisions. What about the ballistic solvers? AB elite is well known from the kestrel. AB ultralight, like I am using in the sig kilo6k, lacks spin drift, coriolis, and vertical deflection of cross wind. I also can't find a way to put in a zero offset. So, the harder the wind blows and the further the shot, the more error in those solutions. Perhaps some can be trued out with drop/velocity tuning. But, for sporty NRL hunter stages, like prairie dogs at 450 yards, this error is a challenge. Does the Revic or swaro correct for these? Also, what about bluetooth connections? The fury is known to suck batteries dry when using with a garmin watch. Sig has a history of glitchy bluetooth connection. It's nice the software is inside so one doesn't always need a connection, but for most binos, I assume some settings and updates need done with bluetooth to an app. One more thing- what about laser performance in less than ideal conditions- fog, smoke, dust? Sig has a best/first/last/fog and extended range setting.

    • @aarondavidson2156

      Base wind method does a full value wind with eovtos, but without advanced corrections. When you enter a vector wind (on device) then it turns on advanced: Corriolis, Spin Drift, Aero Jump, Headwind, etc. Revic (with G7 BR2 heritage) has very nice target discrimination routines and adverse conditions functionality.

      If you are in the market shopping, definitely look at your warranties, they may be great glass but the most expensive only give 2-3 yr warranties on the elecronics because they know they are using cheap, shit boards in these. Definitely excited for the vectronix, i guess a question i had but didnt get covered was how much the range enhancers effect glass quality, also is the glass in say the 10x on par with the 12x? My mind goes to the NF ATACR where most feel the 7-35 has better glass than the 5-25...

      10X is always going to feel limited in that setting. We like the Vortex for the money, though it’s certainly quite a bit behind the higher rated products at range.

    • @area419
      @area419  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Oh, and on the range enhancers - we show a side by side in the Vector X video. Adding the enhancers results in some loss of quality, simply because you’re looking through more layers of glass. That said, the jump from 10x to 14x with them covers many of the gripes. A native 14x unit would be higher quality than a 10x enhanced to 14x, but it’s a versatility game. We like them because we think in a world of compromises, they made the right ones and refused the wrong ones.

    • @PracticallySquared1
      @PracticallySquared1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fair enough. On the fury point I was more commenting on glass, I could make do with 10x good glass binos. My buddy has 10x Swaro NL pures and even though you don't have the magnification, the glass is so strong they're good for PRS spotting imo.. not trying to bury the furys but i just think the glass is extremely lacking.
      On the Vectronix, nice so the 12x will probably be my choice then. A native 12x should be decent to spot with if it has good glass, but 17x with enhancers will be pretty cool to try or at least have for 1000+ yards. @@area419

    One thing in my opinion that is crucial to the binoculars is their ability to provide an accurate And quick shooting solution for the user. Applied ballistics is a program that the military uses. These other proprietary ballistic solvers aren’t near as proven besides the 4dof. The overall objective of them is to aid the shooter in hitting the intended target. You cannot argue that AB is the king of the hill. Each units ability to aid in an accurate solution should be scored. It would be tough to do because the gun and shooters ability also come into play. I just feel some points should be awarded for it somehow.

    • @area419
      @area419  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All but one of these are using AB, and the non-AB solution was noted. Diving deep-deep into that would have been a lot of squeeze for a pretty small amount of possible juice.

    • @tommyrq180
      @tommyrq180 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Image-stabilized binoculars (such as Canon’s or Sig Sauer’s) already exist as you probably know. Some are gyro stabilized, others are electronically or mechanically stabilized. Not sure why the laser guys haven’t integrated that technology yet, but surely they will. It will come a the expense of size, portability, and electro-mechanical complexity (affecting reliability), however.

I know since i've used it numerous times upon downing a game animal. Shame on you Area 419! Also, the bluetooth distance is a solid 10 meters when keeping connected to my Kestrel 5700 Elite.

    What shootout? The only thing I've seen in this video is opinions. The short snippets of video or even the 'X Factor' as you call it are not explained and you can't see them unless you pause the video.
    And then you go in to almost nothing about ballistic solvers, accuracy, range, environmental conditions, etc. Write an article, post it on your page, who the reviewers were, how it is independent, and what test fixtures or measurement devices you used, etc

    Vortex, should not be compared to Swarovski. We run NL pure in 8x32, 10x32 and 12x42 and opted for Sig Kilo 8k-abs with near instant solutions for rifle.
