Very cool. There's a vintage station like that in my neighborhood. It's now only a one-man repair shop, pumps are long gone, and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets torn down in the next couple of years.
Grew up in a road commode, dad had the only white in the whole fleet at horwith trucking in balleitsville pa. The rest of them were freightshakers and diamond reos and macks. Awesome time in my life. By the way dad's handle was the sidewinder ran with Dutch boy, wagon master, tumbleweeds, heavy chevy ,cherry pie and many others. Miss those days.

This place and the trucks are just so neat . Step back in time . I really like the cab over trucks . I owned and operated a GMC Astro cab over in the early 80’s It had a 290 Cummings . Thank you for the trip back in time !
That white road commander 2 is sweet! Hope someone buys it and restores it. Seeing these old trucks brings back memories from my childhood. Love your videos Dane.
Love that Astro. Had a new one in 1978. 290 Cummins. Then a new one in 1982 with 300 Cummins. Great show Dane. Reyco suspension. Brings back good memories. Keep them coming.
Thanks for the tour! Always love your old truck tours! The White Road Commander carried most of the looks and design over when they built the White/GMC cabovers.
Dane another fine trip down memory lane. My father had a full service garage and wreckers on old route 62 in Harrisburg (between Alliance and Canton). This video prompted me to pull up old photos I have of the station when it was Shell in the 60's and again when it became Amoco in the 70's. If interested I would send you the pics just give me a link or email.
Great video,to say frozen in time would be an understatement, especially in this day and age. Started out driving a1977 White Road Commander exactly like the one in the video, and it was a single axle,I still have an old photo of it.thanks for a couple of minutes of sanity and keep her between the ditches
Those finds are becoming very rare to find...most of the stuff has been vandalized or people ripping of parts with no regards to the truck if restorative...awesome video...definitely a few keepers in there.
I know right? I mean I didn’t see any vandalized windows which is just crazy. Especially the station window plate glass still all in tact as was the trucks. 😮
I recognized the area in Pennsylvania , browsed there 20 years ago. The medium duty White Trend typically was powered by small block Chevys . The Trend also was rebadged for Oliver and Diamond Reo , imagine getting truck parts from your Oliver tractor dealer. I like your new logo on your introduction .
Dane I know you have an Astro now but that older Astro is prime picking for a resto , you're the man for that job , keep up the great work I love old Jimmy's

Good morning Dane , man you struck gold , I believe that is an old Cities Service gas station and it is jam packed with very cool memoberia . The first Astro is in fantastic condition , even the frame rails had orig. paint & that White Freight liner was over the top , maybe an old Coke hauler keep up the good work. Thanks , Mark Battista
Hey Dane, another great blast from the past. Really enjoy your videos. In Canada trucks in empty lots like that are very hard to find, because communities call them an eyesore so they have mostly been crushed for scrap, it's too bad but that is what happens here. Even our auto wreckers now strip cars when they come in, shelf the parts and charge stupid prices. the days of going to the wreckers and taking off your parts yourself are over here. Oh well what can you do. Taker easy bud..............
Nice look back to the trucks of the day. Like I’ve said before brings back a lot of memories, the jimmy with the big grill we had one like that I think it was an ‘84 . The 4070 , the road commander. The thing I remember the most about road commander was having to rebuild the shifter a couple of times, they had a lot of joints that would get sloppy making them hard to shift. Well done Dane, enjoyed the tour. See you on the next one. 👋
Loved that 220, man. The first big truck I ever drove was a '59 R190 on a farm. Also, that pin striping on the front of that Frieghtliner (along with that custom shifter extension) tells me it was once someone's daily custom ride. Thanks again for another great video.
That White "Road Commode" would make a good project to restore for truck shows or for a retiree looking for an RV toter to travel the country with. It would look good pulling someone's travel trailer.
That Freightliner day cab and the White Trend were still made with the coach style door handles. Almost expected to see a jacket on the hook behind the seat.
Alot of cool trucks I believe I've driven past that same place with the GMC Astros. The White I believe its an expeditor or the model before the expeditor
Will we be seeing a blue White in your workshop any time soon. You sounded so enthusiastic. It is so refreshing when people restore something other than Paccar or Freightliner.- not that I dislike them just a bit of variation is good.
Nice Custom Touch would be to paint the red in the GMC green to match your stripe. I noticed the blue ones in the weeds was blue in the GMC to match the stripes. I never drove an astro I have drove a Chevrolet Titan 90. The odd thing about the one I drove did not have West Coast mirrors it had bus mirrors. I bet that's rare. Very good video I enjoyed seeing the old trucks and the old station.
I’ve always been a fan of heavy duty tow truck if I ever owned a classic truck that what I would want something like that international enjoyed the video
That day cab Astro is in very rough condition compared to the first one you looked at. The third one didn't look too bad either. Incredible so much left behind in the building.
I mentioned to you that there is a complete white road commander that outs this blue one to shame in Mentor ohio, behind the senior center on 615 and Munson rd. There are 4 greenhouses next to it. There are also some old vintage semi trailers there. It would make a great video.
Yes that belongs to a guy I have met with. It was his Dads and it was actually featured in ATHS Wheels of Time one time. He is gonna restore it soon and it will definitely be a feature. Thanks
Another great video , That place is frozen in time. If those trucks can only talk the stories we would hear. Really loved the International transtar, Never knew Why they called It a corn Binder....

The Transtar is a straight 4070, some called them the A model. Easily identified by the resessed area around the sleeper vent and the extra grab rail on the side. The B model was made in 78,79, and 80.
International came out with the 4000/4070 in 1968, that truck is at least a 1974 because that's when International moved the wipers above the windshield, from 68 through 1973 the wipers were at the bottom of the windshield.
@@bertgrau3934 Back in the 80’s I had a 1966 C/O 4000, the first year for the 4000. Prior to that it was the Emeryville, then around ‘69 or so, can’t remember for sure, it was called the 4070A, then later the “B” as it was called. My 4000 had a 6-71/10spd & I used it for hauling iron. The old screaming Detroit was always working hard but it never let me down, as long as it had an ample supply of oil to go along with it!
@@tieroneactual2228 Yes,sir, I think your correct. After I thought about it, the last year for the Emeryville was either 1965 or 66. Then 67 was the first year for the 4070. I remember seeing a CO. 4000 the difference between the 4000 and the 4070 (Transtar) was the 4000 had a smaller sleeper than the 4070 / Transtar. I'm sure they had other numbers for each truck to reflect the different engines, or transmission. I think.you could get the Detroit both inline 6 71, and 8V71, and the Cummins. I drove a 1970 Transtar, 250 Cummins, with a 10 speed. No turbo. Was slow, but dependable.
It's a Transtar II, 4070B, made from 74 to 81. Basically the same same cab as the 4070A Transtar, which came after the 4000, but they gave it a different interior and raised the cab to make room for the higher horsepower engines. You can tell by that recessed step under the door.. the width of that panel under the door is how much they raised the cab. 4070A didn't have that panel and the step was a strap metal type deal that bolted right to the body under the door, also the original transtar the wipers were below the windshield and transtar II they are above the windshield. First over the road job was a 1972 4070A Transtar. Then that same company bought a brand new 1977 4070B Transtar II.
O-H-I-O Porter greetings. 🇺🇸 You sure found a good one there! 🤩 I love the old little Ma Pa stations! The White Tend was from the 70s I believe. Thy could have either REO or White badging on them. Why? They were rather cool looking trucks! I’m not sure how many they made of them. Some say very few! Did you find something that you really want? 🧐 The White Commander 2 was quite a looker! I love a single axle cabover. It had a Cummins? I love those old little wind breakers. Now that would be an eye turner! 😏 The 1st Astro was rather sharp, too! 318 engine? Not bad! All the trucks would be worth reviving or getting for parts! Rather a rare catch! 🤩 This is one where I shall watch it again to see what I missed! So much! 🥰😎✌️
I always wonder what happened to all the old trucks. Guess people scrapped them all because they wanted to make an easy buck. Or a lot of them were shipped. Because like the transtar, you used to see them everywhere, now you barely see any. Where did they all go?
Salute to you driver. Thank you. That 79 GMC, is that a 8V-71 or a 72? That is my favorite engine sound since I was a kid. I imitated it very well back then even when I was a sharper sound. Ok the white and green Astro was a 79 with 8v92, the blue and white one is a 73 with the 8v71. Our child hood dreams and memories are what makes so many old school trucks great. Thanks for watching. 😬👍
Man i need some parts off of the 4070B for my truck I’m restoring on my channel !!! Great video as always. Im surprised you haven’t drug the astro to your shop !!
Can someone point what are main appearance differences between this white road commander 2 and the western star cabover? I know the grill and badges, but there more visual changes that we can report looking into that. Amazing video btw Dave.
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE I need to say I lvoe both models lol, I love these oldies they are soo nice, and there a lot of history behind them. The good old days!
With the White and green combo coloring, do you think the building was a City Gas Station? Reminds me of my Uncle's Esso station from the 60s!! He had a similar desk too!!
That corner doesn't cover 10% of the cars/trucks at that property. In 1997 or 8 I talked to the old man and he allowed me to walk the property. Unless they cleaned up, there are a couple hundred cars in the woods behind that station. Around the corner on rt19 they ran a scrap operation. There was a late 50's White 5000 sitting over there. Also he used to have 6 or 7 of those Trends sitting there for parts, and he ran one as a rollback. The trend used Chevy 327 or 350 in them.
Bro and viewers : If you love astros and Titans - Watch the beginning of Beverly Hills cop 2 Twenty Minutes of glorious Chases and Ramming y an astro double trailer semi being chased by the Detroit PD- at 6- 7 minutes in another classic beauty of GMC- the RTS BUS/ circa 77 does an emergency stop and u turn going 40 miles per hour! All 14 tons of it!!
Another interesting video. Sometimes I just wonder what happened, maybe the economy went bad, the person just got tired, or sick, or left them to kids that didn't care about the trucks . They are some neat trucks , but some aren't worth trying to save. That's just my opinion. The problem I see you spend 80-100 thousand dollars, to restore and no one would pay that much for it. Antique cars can be the same, you rebuild an old car and you have more in it than it's worth. That's just my opinion.
It’s all in the person who values it. Times are always changing as we well know and these are but one example of how time moves and everything is subject to irrelevance at some point. Sad but..... true😞

Man i need some parts off of the 4070B for my truck I’m restoring on my channel !!! Great video as always. Im surprised you haven’t drug the astro to your shop !!

That trend truck is the first Expeiditer made for years by White , white gmc , Volvo
Only if them old trucks could talk the stories they would tell
Use to ride with gramp in ASTRO 20 below cold omg truck was cold we hauled Maine lobsters and muscles to weathersfield ct.
That’s awesome! I mean yes cold but what memories right?
Can someone point what are main appearance differences between this white road commander 2 and the western star cabover? I know the grill and badges, but there more visual changes that we can report looking into that. Amazing video btw Dave.
Thanks..... not sure differences but the RC2 is the end of the line for my tastes. Loved it! But after that .... nope 😬
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE I need to say I lvoe both models lol, I love these oldies they are soo nice, and there a lot of history behind them. The good old days!
You should get that blue cabover nice
You just never know ..... wink wink
With the
White and green combo coloring, do you think the building was a City Gas Station? Reminds me of my Uncle's Esso station from the 60s!! He had a similar desk too!!
Ya, either that or Sinclair possibly.
Possibly. The uncle also ran a Sinclair station but I don't recall the green parallel lines with Sinclair. I could be wrong.
hello dane just watched youre video nice ole trucks their what year is that road commander 2
I think 74 or 5 is when they went with the "2" version. 73 was the first gen.
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE i have the younger cousin which is the 1979 white western star cabover
Wow a road commode....
Great video and a cool place to walk around. Check out Matt's off road recovery channel. They are building a yellow R190 off road wrecker.
Yeap that r.s.l old road commander 2 I know it well, I know where she's at.i haven't been up there in a while.
Definitely Americana!!
Great vid. Thanks.
Thanks for watchin Rich!
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE As they say in Japan in their ancient and beautiful language, No Problem.
I'll by that old cobra 29 classic side mic that tran star looked like my uncle truck it had a 335 stepped up to a 380 Cummins it surly looked like it
Dane scott contact Tim Gentry he has a you tube channel to he is trying to save a lot of the cabover he might be interested
I'll have to ask the son, I'm gonna see him this week for a little follow up I'll be posting soon. Thanks for the info.
Bro and viewers :
If you love astros and Titans -
Watch the beginning of Beverly Hills cop 2 Twenty Minutes of glorious Chases and Ramming y an astro double trailer semi being chased by the Detroit PD- at 6- 7 minutes in another classic beauty of GMC- the RTS BUS/ circa 77 does an emergency stop and u turn going 40 miles per hour!
All 14 tons of it!!
Thanks 😬👍
Sad but..... true😞
Somebody liked whites and Jimmy’s there at the property
Love the new cartoon logo. Is it going on a shirt?
Yes it will soon. Thanks 😬
I could use parts off that cornbinder
Call Paul at the number shown.
Too bad you didn’t show the Brockway in the back ground
I did in a subsequent video
Did I see a gen 2 Dodge at the side of the station
Hmmm not sure
What’s the story in the Brockway with the coal body at 1:55?
Didn’t get to look at it. There’s more trucks there for sure.
