I ordered myself and my youngest son aa Bigwater a few weeks ago, should be in for April / ice thaw! Demo'd everything I could, and the Bigwater was the fastest, I felt I could stand okay and it's reliable and priced right.
Your recommendation to take off the prop and rinse the shaft and shear pin works great. I have a 2019 Sporstman PDL 120 and fish the coastal waters of Maine. The original prop shear pin rusted and left me paddling back with my hand paddle in the fall of 2020. I was close to shore and didn't feel like changing the pin on the water. In December of 2020, Old Town sent me new and much improved prop shear pins. I have been out on 167 kayak outings with my PDL the past three years and all I have done to combat that salt water is fill a 5 gallon bucket with my fresh well water and dunk the prop a couple of times as soon as I get home. Works great with no corrosion seen, easier than taking off that prop everytime.
Dude just came to say thanks. 12% of one of my video views are coming from this video. I absolutely love my Oldtown 132 pdl. The bigwater is the best kayak in my fleet!
I've fished out my Predator hundreds of times in saltwater only over the years. If it flew off my roof on the highway (as I think that is the only way to destroy one), I would immediately purchase another. Same day. The only thing I have done is that I opened up the PDL drive and added marine gear oil to the lower unit. If the seals ever leak, which they haven't yet, I want to see oil seeping out before I realize water can seep in. Fighting corrosion in the aluminum cross brace on the PDL drive is the biggest issue I have had. Also I use a mesh lumbar support on the seat. Without it the lumbar support, the lower bar would be uncomfortable on my backside.
Chris, long time follower. Really enjoy the videos. Just found out Ill be moving to Corpus in couple months. Would love to get invested in the kayak community down there, it has become my passion over the last few years. Any points of contact would be most appreciated.
Awesome! If you have Facebook sent me a DM on our page and I’ll point you in the right direction. @nextlevelfishingtv or Next Level Fishing Show with Chris Castro
Yes and No lol. If we’re talking pedal powered - The Hobie Revolution is Hobie’s ultimate saltwater fishing kayak. And the BW132/Predator is Old Town’s! Both are awesome, saltwater proven hulls 👍🏻
@@NextLevelFishingTVthe guy from Navarre Kayak Fishing channel said he had trouble launching the Salty in the surf because waves would fill the front storage area and bog it down before it could drain.. did you experience that at all?
@@iDreamOfWeenie yea I could see that for sure, but I don’t have any personal experience with it. The hull design is absolutely more superior for the surf BUT that doesn’t account for the top design. If that front area is not draining sufficiently, or overloading due to water then I could definitely see a problem.
Hello, is there an updated version of this kayak for 2023? Because i found this kayak for 1700. Could it be that they sell older version for that money?
I’m not sure I understand your question, do you mean is there an older version prior to 2023? If that’s what you mean….yes, each year a born on date is established out of manufacturing. Prior to this model it was called the Predator PDL.
@NextLevelFishingTV thank you for replying. I am just confused by price. Big water sells for over 3000 dollars everywhere and west marine sells it for 1700. Why would that be? That s why i am asking if there are new fealtures addeld to beef up the price?
@robbiejohnson3698 yeah i dont know if my kayak has a defect. Im use to using wilderness systems tarpon so I have good balance on a yak. Its weird because I feel it wanting to tip to the left.
Absolutely, you just need to find one with a power pole mount adapter or buy a third party adapter then install a strolling motor in it. Look up YakGadget online, I believe they have some mounting plates.
I wish I could win an old Town autopilot kayak so I can complete my mission of saving our beautiful waterways universe by picking up Trash and keeping it clean
I have the last gen Predator PDL and absolutely still love the platform!

LOVE my 2021 Old Town Bigwater pdl
I have the Oldtown 132 and is the best platform kayak to use in extreme fishing in the USA , Puerto Rican waters

The 5 yr warranty is now not applicable?
Great video best kayak in the market 👌

Revo is a solid kayak. The Salty PDL from OT I would say might actually be a better offshore kayak then the Bigwater.

I saw a kayaker today with some kinda motor that sounded like a lawn mower, and he was booking it.
Times are changing 😂

Did Old Town buy out Ocean Kayak? 🤯 Was looking to replace my OK Prowler Predator13.
It’s always been under the Johnson umbrella, the ocean kayak series is now under the Old Town brand now.
If they brought back they lime or grey camo….I’d 100% buy one
👀

@@dejvoja are you sure you aren’t looking at the paddle version and not the PDL?
@NextLevelFishingTV i saw it in person. It was big water pdl
@@dejvoja in that case take it and RUN! LOL never seen them that cheap.
They also went to a non locking bow hatch
True. But that hatch is just so well sealed that it doesn’t make a difference. Water doesn’t get in, unlike the hatch of my Hobie.
Its crazy my bigwater is more tippy than my brothers oldtown sportsman 120
I agree on my 2nd trip sitting down the kayak rolled didn’t know what happened crazy never flipped a kayak in 20 years I bought over 30 kayaks

Can a trolling motor be added to the Big Water 132?

Great movie tanks 🇸🇪

What I want in 2023 is all powered propultions ! Not padeling.
