I had a couple Hobies with their mirage drive. I v had to pull that system up so many times in a day. I ended up using a motor in the back that would just tilt and used the opening for the fishfinder i used. Then i brought it to Barnegat bay. And the mirage drive was awesome!
Some of them do 7-10 mph The hobie can do a 5.5 mph without getting tired. They are great Unfortunately, iv was fishing with a couple friends who also had kayaks when a bullshark flipped my kayak and proceeded to bite the boat until it got to the gooey center. Thanks to the man a and his son on a full sized boat i am alive today. Haven't bought a new one, haven't waded in since. Boats or surf only.
I got a sportsman 120 pdl last year and absolutely love it. Buying a trailer this year, I'm already sick of car topping it lol! Planning on taking it down to the gulf coast this summer.

I love kayak fishing too I had a kayak in Titusville Florida I even had a redfish pull me in my kayak that's how big does big red fish was I bought mine for a hundred bucks at a boat shop I went everywhere in that kayak caught a lot of redfish and trout out of it

I had a Vibe seaghost 130 I enjoyed it but it wasn't pedal drive. I'm looking at 3 different yaks. I like the simplicity of old towns pdl system. Hobie has alot of issues with their pedal system.
It looks awesome, the kayak that I use for my channel I run a Garmin Striker 4 but for you, I would suggest any of the eco-Mabs from Garman. Those are really good for kayaks. again awesome set up.

Wow, nice Kayak, how stable is it? could it tip over pretty easy. I want one , but I alway think about it tiping over and loosing all of my stuff that is not straped down. I also like what you did with posting on the screen about to size limits. Be safe and keep up the great work.
What do you recommend for throwing artificials? 7 ft or 7’6? I like the extra length for casting distance but I find it less fatiguing and easier to work lures with a 7ft
Hey buddy, I have the same kayak and color. It is really nice and I really love it. Fast and stable for its size. I've taken mine offshore about a mile and performs well out there. Great for lakes and ocean. I live in California, near the coast, it is a sweetheart of a ride. Well, take care my friend.
I’m trying to decide between a Hobie PA 12 and an Old Town Big Water. I’m having a hard time justifying the price difference. Since you’ve owned Hobie and Old Town, which would you go with? Since I’m a senior, total weight is a concern for loading and launching, but, stability is the most important thing. I’ll get a stand up bar and I don’t plan on going offshore. Maybe very near shore on slick days.
Congrats on your new yak. I've got a sportsman pdl 132 that i purchased in 2019. It's extremely stable with plenty of storage. I've fished in small ponds up to launching from the beach and fishing in the ocean with it and I've never had a bit of trouble out of it. I enjoy all your videos and always look forward to the next one.

Some fish almost have to be bled out, but all fish become better quality meat if you bleed them. The easiest thing to do is poke your fingers in the gills and rip them all. If you are super serious about bleeding your fish out you can also cut the tail off right where the tail fin starts. Some people think all of that sounds cruel, but it actually dispatched the fish quickly and is more humane than letting them flop around in your cooler alive for 10 minutes. Besides that every fish dies a gruesome and violent death. Fish don’t die in their sleep from old age 😂😅.

I got hit by a shark in Panama City while surf fishing about 40 years ago when I was 18. it didn't bite me , just ran into me when it got stuck on a sand bar beside me. I have not been in the ocean over knee deep since. I honestly did not think of the Gators in those tidal creeks . So nope,, my old butt will not be on any kayak !

Wow, what a great sponsor. I'm predominantly a kayak guy (did just buy a boat, but will only be for fresh water here at Lake Powell). However, when I travel to the gulf my kayak always goes. That rig is the nicest I've seen. There are some things I really do not like on my pelican, but I got it for a song and have got it rigged for peddle and trolling motor. Maybe sometime I'll upgrade to an old time. Great video as aways
Nice kayak. I looked at the Old Town, Pelican, Ocean, Ascend, and ended up with a Jackson Coosa FD pedal drive. Though I haven't been out in the kayak in a while (Got a Mako 18LTS Fall of 21) I still love pedaling along. Gonna have to knock the cobwebs off it and take it out when the weather warms up a bit here in NC.
Awesome, good choice too! And it's hard to kayak when you have a nice engine haha! But it's much nicer not paying for gas or cleaning the boat lol and it's peaceful and my gym haha!

I have the PDL 120. I love my old towne. However, they weigh a ton, and they can't negotiate very shallow water as well has the Hobies.....
They definitely weigh a bunch but I love the Stability in the open water.
